MISC. THOUGHTS

Sirs:

Congratulations with your new 5.0 L engine. Close bore spacing remained. That translates into a sturdier crankshaft and less bearing friction, good! I am also impressed that it's a stroker - better suited for transmissions with higher overdrive ratios, good!

Since you are keeping tooling from the modulars and indeed retaining those engines along with this new 5.0, consider V-10's for Lincoln. Lincoln (of which I have owned a few) should be the touchstone of American luxury not competition for Buick. It needs exotica. A V-10 in at least one full size model, perhaps like the rendering done on a Bentley in the BON forums and in a sports car based off Mustang. Mustang should have fire-breathing V-8's but Lincoln should have the smoothness and power of a V-10.

In my younger days, I owned Mustangs. I'm very disappointed in the latest rendition. To me, it seems to have lost edginess. Now it's more like Mustang II. Mustang has a maw for a grille and a FLAT hood and a simple back view. This new version looks girlie with its front end work and curved-down hood and sissy tail lights. If this design was done for the sake of aerodynamics, forget it. Aero becomes a factor over 55 mph. How often in real world traffic is this car going to see speeds over 55 mph? Want to reduce drag ... figure out a way to trumpet the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold, engineer Mullaly knows what I mean.

In the re-design, please produce a car with the same raw edginess that made Steve McQeen.

Thank you.
