QUESTION ON SAME DAY SCHEDULING

CAN THE COMPANY SCHEDULE A DAY OFF FOR THE PLANT THEN ON THAT DAY THEY SCHEDULED OFF CALL PEOPLE IN AND MAKE IT MANDATORY THAT THEY COME IN ? ALSO GIVE OUT AWOLS IF YOU DON'T. WHERE IS THIS IN THE CONTRACT WHERE THEY CAN OR CAN"T? THANKS

 

Just get your behind inot work and be thankful you have a job.

Any more the company seems to do whatever they want to do. They always say management has the right to manage. Sad as it may seem.

No they can't. (If you are hourly) They have to tell you the previous day. If they want emergency production or maintenance, it's on a volunteer basis. If you are not scheduled by the previous night, they can't AWOL you. They can try, and claim whatever they want, but if for instance on Friday at last break they say we are not working tomorrow (Saturday), they can't call you the next morning and say we got the parts in, you have to come in or you'll be AWOL. If you want to go in, great, but if not, too bad for them. Schedules and contracts are made to be followed. Management will try and pull crazy shit to scare the workers, but the union has to be there to bust them and enforce the contract.

The situation was they (company) called off a regular day of production and then called people that day and tried to make them come in. Where might this be found in the contract we have been looking but can't find anything on this thanks

Don't listen to this Troll. THEY CAN DO THAT BROTHER! ITS IN THEIR (the company) CONTRACT!
