July's 31 per cent increase marks the seventh straight month that Ford of Canada has experienced double-digit growth in car sales, and year-to-date car sales are up 21.3 per cent. "It's a strong car market and our car sales are really driving success at Ford of Canada. The Ford Mustang, Fusion, Focus and Five Hundred represent the bold and innovative approach we are taking toward cars and consumers like what they see," said Bill Osborne, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. In July, overall car and truck sales were down slightly by 0.9 per cent at 22,832 units; car sales of 7,493 units were up 31 per cent while truck sales were down 11.5 per cent at 15,339 units. In addition to the 41.6 per cent increase realized by Mustang, the Crown Victoria had its best July since 2003 by achieving a 19 per cent increase for the month. Although truck sales were down for the month, sales of the Ford Explorer 4DR were up 35.7 per cent. Lincoln had a stellar month, recognizing growth with both the Navigator and Mark LT. The Lincoln Navigator attained its best July since 2003 with an impressive 51.6 per cent increase; and the Lincoln Mark LT saw growth of 31.1 per cent, reaching sales that ranked 2 nd best since its launch. On a year-to-date basis, overall combined sales are up 4.9 per cent at 142,158 units. So far this year, car sales of 46,601 units are up 21.3 per cent while truck sales are down 1.6 per cent at 95,557 units.
