Should I buy it?

Hello everyone, this is my first post so hopfully it’s in the right spot. I currently have a 2010 ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi that I tow my horse trailer with. Usually 5500-6000lbs but occasionally will tow a bigger one closer to 8000lbs. My truck does great although the suspension is pretty soft and it’s getting up there in miles (197k) so I’m looking to upgrade and wanting a 3/4 ton this time. I had a 2011 f150 before this truck and I liked the interior as well as the handling of it alot better than my ram, although it had a 3.7 v6 so it wasn’t very suited for my needs which is why I sold it. With how comfortable the f150 was id like to go back to ford. I came across what I think is a very good deal on a 2012 f250 crew cab long bed XLT with the 6.2 gas engine and 133k miles. It’s only a few hours away and I talked them down to $14,500. First off, does this sound like a good deal? I’m in Indiana and the truck is just about rust free which is a huge deal around here, he also said it has zero issues and the body/interior look to be in good shape. Does $14,500 seem like a good deal? My second question, how well do the 6.2s tow and what’s the longevity like on them? It has 3:73 gears which I know isn’t ideal however my ram has 3:55s and still does great. I’d really like to hear comparisons on people that have owned/towed with a 5.7 hemi so I know what to expect switching to the 6.2. I know the stability will be way better but not sure on other aspects of it. Also, what’s should I be expecting mpg wise loaded and unloaded?

From other online trucks for sale, I'd say it should be worth it. Looks to be well taken care of.  I have the 2019 version of the 6.2 l engine, 6 speed automatic and the 3.73 rear end on my f350 dually which I only use with my heavy truck camper. It performs great. I just never try to be in a real hurry to get anywhere.

Do you think I’ll be disappointed coming from a 5.7 with higher power specs or will it still be enjoyable to drive and tow with?

I think the truck would sell for way more than that in my neck of the woods.  I'd check it out.  

 

I have a 17 6.2 and it's been great and zero complaints. Mines got a little more power but at the price I'd deal.  Only reason I'm upgrading is but more comforts and going back to a dually.  

 

I'd jump on it.

Going to check it out tomorrow morning. I’ll let you know how it goes. Looks to be a great deal to me. As long as it runs and drives good like he says, and the body is close to as good of shape as it looks in the add I think I’ll be going home with it.

Well just went and picked it up. Runs and drives great and apparently was repainted a few years ago so looks very good as well. A couple things I have noticed after driving it home 100miles, it has a very slight vibration around 60mph. Hardly noticeable, but it’s there. Second, there is a slight rubbing/grinding sound coming from the front left wheel that it only noticeable when driving along somthing where the sound can echo off of. Sounds like the heat shield rubbing, but I already checked that. Any ideas what it could be? I was thinking a wheel bearing however it doesn’t change when turning either direction. One more thing, I turned the hubs in to test the 4wd and even with the selector switch in 2wd the front end still started to bind up on the drivers side when turning on pavement. Possibly a bad u-joint on the axle shaft? I still think I got a very good deal and have no problem fixing these small things just looking for some insight.
