  1. Take it easy fellas!! 2011 S.D. 4x4's will still have solid front axle. Front axle, tie rod, trac bar, sway bar, links all look simialer to 2010. There are a couple sitting around in the plant with engineers and launch personel hovering over and inspecting. We are supossed to build about 100 units next month along side the 2010's for job training purposes. The new 6.7L and the new tranny is a HAWSE???? Looks like something you would see in a semi!! Sheetmetal looks to be freshened up. Front headlights are rather large. Will be launching vehicle in Feb. or March 2010. Later :shades:
  2. Yes, Our chairman sure does know how to deal with the company............he gets punked out almost every time he goes to bat for us. The handbill put out last week(signed by him and our bargaining committee) contained three bargaining wins: It stated our new line start times and some crazy sh*t about contractual language agreed upon about KTP being sole producer of SD for North America and Canada through 2009 model, and no layoffs up to 2007 contract. Well, one week later and the last day of work before shutdown, we receive a new handbill. This one is from Labor Relations and it states a new line start time.(yup, different than what the union said) Guess which one we are to follow.......... Well, one of the three so called bargained wins only lasted one week, How much longer untill the other two are reversed and we are notified by Labor Relations and not the UAW...... The company will do what the company wants to do.
  3. Either your head is in a hole or your post was entered incorrectly, but we already are three shifts! I think you meant to say "when we go to three 8 hour shifts". Just wanted to clarify that. Say, how long until they let us know what the shift hours will be. Been hearing 8 to 4, 4 to 12, 12 to 8.
  4. We are hearing at KTP that later this fall, a second buyout will occure and be offered to about 700-800 production workers for a total of about 1000 buyouts. People from Atlanta assembly will be offered to transfer to KTP; How many transfers? Don't know. This is what is floating around and has not been set in stone. Take it for what its worth.
  5. Currently at KTP, we are three shifts working 10+ hours four days a week. Company has approached the union and laid three proposals on the table to cut overtime; 1. Work three 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week.(this one is rumored to be what will happen) 2. Leave shifts like they are, but pay strait time 10 hours and do away with shift premium on nights and weekends. 3. Lay off the third shift and work 10 hours, 5 days a week with mandatory sat. when orders are needed.
  6. That is correct. '07 SD will use the same solid front axle as the '06. In fact, the new redesigned '08 with the 6.4L PS will also use the same solid axle-coil setup. '07 production is supposed to begin tonight, with the '08 model starting in Jan. of 2007. According to Ford design engineers, the solid axle will be around through 2010. The IFS was scratched due to the solid axle setup being "heavier duty" than the IFS.
  7. Aluminum diff. cover is already in production and has been for some time. I have noticed it on the 350 dually only with the low geared rearend. Our line builds mostly 250 and some 350, and I believe it is 4.23 gear.
  8. Sorry fellas, I didn't mean to create a frienzy. So far all of the 08' S.D.'s we have built for testing have all had the solid front axles on 4x4's. As far as IFS, I havn't seen one yet. This could be just an option. The next time I see a launch engineer, I will ask about SLA and IFS. In the mean time, the solid front axle will be available on the 08'.
  9. Update on options for the 2008 superduty: -New axles for increased payload -Electronic throttle control for all engines -Electro hydraulic braking / hydraulic launch assist -Trailer tow lighting system -Power point in pickup box for trailer tow -New load monitoring system -Optional rear load leveling air suspension -New standard SLA front suspension for 250 4x2/4x4 and 350 4x2 pickup and optional for 350 4x4 -New rack and pinion steering for SLA -Single fill dual fuel tanks -Satellite radio option -DVD/rear seat entertainment system option for Crew Cab -Navigation system -Cold weather package(heated seats ,steering wheel, remote start, etc.) -Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) -New front seats, rear slouch seat and fold flat for super cab, sliding second row with hidden track, tip and fold flat for Crew Cab -New exterior apperance-hood, fenders, front end,box and tailgate outers -New front fascia and bumper design -Moon roof for super cab. Production date for this 2008 SD will be Jan. 2007.
  10. It will be the 6.4L twin Navi. Specs are under wraps right now. Been told by S.D. launch engineer that Job 1 of 2007 S.D. has been pushed back to Jan. of 2007. Thats about 6 months later than normal. By the time we start building the new 07's, Ford may decide to call it an 08'. If they are built in Jan., look for them on dealer lots in late Feb. Why so late? Been told Ford is still working on reliability of this new twin turbo. They want to take every step cautiously as to make sure it is not a repeat of the previous 6.0L P.S. :D
