  1. Thanks for the info Fins. 12 days seemed kind of long for a Ford check to clear.
  2. Got it today. Long line lots of confusion as you would expect. One thing I did not think about is because the check is so big when I went to deposit it they hold it for 12 days. Oh well............. good luck guys.
  3. The plant called and left a message for me around 1:30. I called back around 3:30 and they told me I could pick up the check from 8 to 10 on Fri. So you figure it took them 7 weeks to process the info. So if you go off that it should be middle of Feb to get to the Jan. 1 people. But remember that was in the middle of the Dec. holidays also. Guys all I can say now is that it was a great run while it lasted and I wish the best to those who are leaving Ford to pursue other jobs and good luck to those who are staying.
  4. Yep Pick them up between 8 and 10. This is for the ones who went out Nov 27. First round is on me!!!!
  5. I was also one of the ones who quit early. I have a job lined up that starts In Feb. Because of my Seniority I would have either lost the job or lost the buyout if I worked until Feb and then left Ford. I had back ups planned for the two months between jobs. If Ford is involved with anything you can expect some sort of screw up. If you did not have the money in the bank or a Temp job until the check came in you have no reason to whine about the timing of the check. We were lucky to be offered one in the first place. The way I thought it was going to work was they would start processing them the first of January anyway. So that means earliest would be mid February for receiving them. You do what you need to do to make it in the interim.
  6. To the fellas that took refresher courses. Who did you guys use? I want to get my masters license but would like a refresher course to bone up on first. I have been trying to find an approved company here in Va. but our education rep is not here as we are in shutdown. The national education people will not look for companies in their data base. If I had a name they can tell me if they are approved but will not look for anything. Thanks
  7. Long sleeves? We don't need no stinkin sleeves! LOL we took the arc Flash class at Norfolk But they have never issued us the gear except the gloves. Any way looks like after first of the year it will not matter for me. No seniority and nowhere to go
  8. Tithe 10% of the gross and pay off everything but the mortgage and bank the rest. The remainder should get me through job searching. The way I look at it is this. There are some companies that have shut the doors over night and the last check bounces. Don’t get me wrong. I do not want to leave Ford. This was my dream job but they are shutting my plant down and I do not want to leave Norfolk. I will take the 100k and be thankful, it could have been 0
  9. He thinks he is an electrician. :poke: Hey Simple its called a cab Puck remember
  10. I don't know how much of this is true but I have been hearing that there is a petition going around trying to get people to drop their membership. You would think that with people losing their jobs that the Gov/Union would go easy on the hit they would take on taxes and "dues" Oh well such is life I guess
  11. It looks like its true. I am getting the info from union reps and Company people here that we are closing. It sucks but there is nothing we can do. We gave it a try.
