  1. Some Norfolk Local 919 UAW Ford workers who moved to Michigan switch to buyouts About two dozen ‘NORFOLK LOCAL 919 UAW’ Ford Motor Co. employees who transferred to the Dearborn, Mich., plant are so frustrated that they've decided to take buyouts and leave the company, according to a local union president. Norfolk workers unhappy in Detroit Their criticisms include mistreatment from bosses, lack of responsiveness from the local union, and concerns about quality control at the plant, said Chris Kimmons, president of United Auto Workers Local 919 in Norfolk.
  2. UAW members lose benefits UAW member perks cutTough times force Big Three, union to scale back tuition, other programs Josee Valcourt / The Detroit News "Unless significant program reductions are made immediately, the UAW-Ford National Programs will be in a deficit situation before the end of 2007." That is affecting workers who were counting on such courses to help them launch second careers. Sherwood has watched the local membership fall from 14,000 people in 1980 to 3,300 today. UAW-Ford cuts Production cuts and shorter working schedules have impacted education and other programs for workers, retirees and families. Here is the status of some of those programs: • Family Service and Learning Centers: Child care centers closing on June 30. • Skills Enhancement Programs: In-plant education centers closed, effective April 16. • Fitness Centers: In-plant programs will be redesigned; membership programs at outlying locations will not be renewed. • Retiree Education and Training Assistance Plan: Moratorium on tuition assistance. • Automotive Industries Studies, Prior Learning Assessment and UAW-Ford University: Discontinued. Source: UAW-Ford National Programs Center but THE UAW OFFICERS GET A PAY RAISE UAW officers get increase in PAY SO TYPICAL - the members continue to lose while the UAW elete continue to prosper.
  3. What a deal! My union dues have finally paid off, it is worth paying union dues if I can get a 50% discount on beer at Walmart. Gettelfinger ;is wonderful! The UAW is great!
  4. UAW workers feel givebacks unavoidable The last 5 years has produced the worst UAW leadership at international and local levels. Because of them the UAW will so be long gone.
  5. The UAW needs the union dues that will be taken out of this $500 bonus, the UAW will get a percentage. Reason gettelfinger and bob king are so happy about members getting this bonus.
  6. When the chairman, president, committeemen, executive board, or anybody travels to Las Vegas, Florida, California or any where else for so called UAW conferences/union business they ARE paid with union dues money, NOT Ford money. Ford does not pay them when they travel on so called union business - THE MEMBERS PAY them. 40 hours plus their overtime hours they say the worked plus ALL expenses.
  7. Bob Antonio, Jersey transplant at NAP now transfered to Detroit. He told the newspaper he was going to retire and move to Florida, but now he does not want to give his ex-wife half of his retirement money.
  8. Do you understand the word "contributed"? Medical excuses/restrictions definitely contributed to the downfall of Ford, along with poor upper management and product and the UAW. There is plenty of blame to go around.
  9. You NOW see that your jobs were not important to the UAW, it is only your UNION DUES that was important to them. Ford, Toyota, Nisson, etc. will definitely use this information to inform their workers of how the UAW sells out their members. The UAW is crumbling and all union members will lose more and more.
  10. What a surprise the chairman does not know anything. You better have something in writing that you will receive the buyout if you quit. Don't trust hearsay.
  11. You will be wasting your time telling anyone at Solidarity House anything especially on a Friday but here are some additional telephone numbers. 12. More UAW workers bankrupt Sunday, September 18, 2005 Autoworkers who used to thrive on overtime now find it tough to keep up their lifestyles. By Louis Aguilar / The Detroit News Article One year ago today
