  2. Hey Guys, haven't been on in a little while, and my plans for my 87 5.0 foxbody are about to get underway, thanks for the info and help! Below is a link about the 2k9 mustang, I've also heard that there will probably be a NOTCHBACK version in 2k9 as well? any thoughts?? :stats: http://www.newtechspy.com/articles06/2009mustang.html
  3. DAMN wildosvt! havent seen you in ages! how have ya been? :shades:
  4. Ok Everyone I'm back for an update, and trust me what an update! I've uploaded pics as well. After speaking with my father in great detail about the car ( since I bought it from a friend of his) I found out that before he bought it, a ford mechanic had owned it, upgraded it, and then for some stupid and unknown reason the car just sat in a field for a year, Then my fathers friend bought it and fixed it up a bit. I do know that the engine has had some upgrades done, what they are I havent a friggin clue. Hence why I wanted to start immediately on the resto. I've got the temporary paint coat on it and a temporary exhaust ( if you could call just an inch and a half straight pipes an exhaust lol) :happy feet: . What I am in the process of ordering are new headers I just cant decide on which ones ( any ideas here guys?) and a 2 -2 and a half inch exaust. I'm not putting mufflers on, I've come to love the pure throaty sound that this little car has without mufflers *EG* So now I have a couple of questions. !) which type of headers would give the best STREET performance, but still give good gas mileage and not hurt the old pocket. 2) which is better in your opinions Basanni X pipe or off road H pipe, and why? what places have good deals on these? I've also checked at summit and seen that they dont have shit anymore for front clips. I want to get a NICE aftermarket front clip so I can put fog lights in the car. I just dont have any good websites to look at, any help? Well, even though the car needs a tune up, I'm glad to state that yesterday it beat its 6th camaro. ( mind you I havent done any Hypo to it yet. The car has just been painted and an exhaust put on) Was also thinking about putting satellite radio in it but after having to deal with pure STUPID people at walmart who cant tell you if you have to have a tape adapter for it or if it is wireless.... fuck it I'll put in an MP3 player and listen to mix Mp3 cd's. gotta go run and meet the lovely fiancee for lunch, and yes I'm taking the mustang *EG*
  5. wow man congrats! I thought I hit a mile mark when I hit 330,000 + on my 87 5.0. I've had no engine rebuilds no problems from the engine, and damn, I havent even changed the spark plugs in over 120K miles. I still get great performance and gas mileage. I do think though since you have 400K plus on it though that you do have the engine checked, and what I mean by checked, is you can have them do compression tests on the engine to see how the compression ratio is, that will also tell you how some of your seals are etc etc. but hell yeah congrats! Mine's going down for a good needed resto though so stay tuned for pictures as I go along on it!
  6. OK where to begin. how bout the beginning. floor pans will have to be replaced, to much rust. All of the body work, I am having done at my fathers friends body shopy ( REALLY good pricing ha! ) I've got the paint picked out, but I am going to have ford paint the car. I want to get it painted the new dark blue that I have seen on the 06-07 mustangs. It will be painted once the body work and the Xenon body kit are on the car. I am looking for a GOOD designed front nose for a mustang because I would like to put some fog lights on the car, but I dont like/want the stock GT nose. any suggestions of places I can look online? Now onto the back end. I am not the brightest buld in the bunch when it comes to mechanics, but I noticed when I took off the back tires that I had two shocks and a strut on each side? I thought mustangs only had struts in the front with one set of shocks in the back? Also, what are the pro's and con's of doing a 5 lug rotor conversion from a 4 lug drum set up? I've also decided that for the engine work, My friend mike ( certified mechanic) and I would tear down the engine and completely rebuild it if it is able to be completely rebuit. He seems to think that the costs of rebuilding this engine would be more expensive than buying a new one because of the costs of the shops around here. If this is the case when it comes time to do this, what would you guys recommend for a new engine as GOOD swap? mind you I still want this car to be gas economical (daily driver) but have some GOOD OOMMPPHH when its needed. once the car is done (should be by the middle of next summer) I'll post some pics for you all to see. many thanks Sean
  7. thanks! I'd love to keep the original engine, I just didnt know if it would be worth it since it had 300K + on it. I mean hell I figured that since the muscle car wars have returned, I'd beef up my little 5.0 just a little bit... make it just a little sporty yet drivable still) I'm also thinking of repainting it either white with a diamond pearl gloss, or the 07 Dark GT blue I've heard of people getting super chargers and putting smaller pulley's on for more boost. which would you recommend?
  8. Okay, First off let me say that I am the proud owner of an 87 5.0 notchback. its got some miles on it and the body shows signs of its age and all. However I have a few questions. I've been wanting to do a resto to this car but only have gotten around to actually planning it now. First, Should I get the new boss 5.0 engine that is coming out for it as an engine swap for it? I would like to put another 5.0 liter engine in it with some decent horsepower (nothing crazy... maybe 300-500 Horsepower) yet try and keep it with the sleeper look. What would you all recommend? Second, IF I do end up getting the boss engine, is there a 6 speed trans that would bolt up to it? I want to put this car back to show room condition and I plan to pass it down in my family. The reason why I got the car is I needed a new car, and since my mother had recently passed away, I needed something that would make me feel youthful again.. so, with part of the check I got from my mothers life insurance I got the car.. in a sense this is the last gift my mother will give me and I want it in pristine condition. Comments would be appreciated thanks, Sean
