  1. Sounds like what they pulled at DTP with PSO openings. It was all legit...as it goes. They needed PSO's at DTP or ( Rouge site), since they conveniently had a few trades about to be laid off, they let them opt to change trades and get retrained. I beleive they were a welder, pipefitter, and maybe a m/w? People asked why they didn't offer this to all ford laid off trades and go by seniority. Answer.... local 600 has a special local agreement that supersedes national. It lets them give their people any job openings rather than posting them company or zone wide. Go figure.....sounds like Lima has special rights too! Man I wish I had special rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. That's how the wixom people got thrown under the bus.We were really the only ones in gen at the time, then when a posting would go up...BAM everyone's putting people in gen. Guys working their tools ( With a job ! ) with 25 years would sign and get the posting. Then the people in their gen with years less than us would back fill them. And there you have it we get screwed because our plant is closed and we all have 10-15 years, ect. There are some serious problems with system.Pray your plant doesn't close, because if it does you are stuck in limbo. DONT GET ME STARTED!!!!
  3. Is it the Company's responsibility to provide bottled water to you? Yes if there is a problem with the on site water fountains. OSHA work rules, as well as contractual obligations also come into play. If you have any issues contact chain of command. If all else fails contact OSHA. There is no remedy for sludge filled water lined pipes. They will not replace the miles of pipes because you say it tastes funny. At " now closed plant" they had pipes that were half plugged with brown slime that was in there for 50 years. Slime that tested pos for all kind of crap drawn from wells on the property. You know what they did....put filters on the fountains to kill the smell and taste. I will always bring in my own water!
  4. No doubt, the funny thing is, it's the fair thing to do. No one cares unless they are affected, then watch out! If they took all the trades out and placed them evenly throughout the zone it would work. All the overtime used to cover empty shifts would dry up and the guys with 45 years would leave and all would balance out. Or better yet, start making people actually do there pm's or work a full shift on the weekends and watch them run for the doors!
  5. The last contract modification that we turned down had trades being put into basically two trades along with concessions that only affected production workers. They were not separated, all concessions were lumped together.
  6. There are many ways to do it. Zone bumping is the easiest and fairest way to do it. Why should someone be out 3-4 years when there is a guy with 6 years less then myself working 10 miles away. You will here that is unfair to him. But if it was you that sat out for that long you would feel the same. The way they have it set up is wrong. Look at it this way. Say you are at plant that closes, you have no right to go back to production and keep all your company seniority because the plant is closed. There are no trades openings because the company is combining trades, the local leadership at plants do not want to post for jobs because it will piss off trades cutting their overtime and bringing in higher seniority trades, thus hurting their chance for RE-ELECTION. So you take a TEMP-LONG Term job on the line somewhere with a fraction of your company seniority because once again...the local leadership doesn't want to piss off voters by bringing in people with more time. So now I'm on the line with 4 years instead of say 20 years. Is this fair????????? Oh ya...long term meaning 1-3 years????? I would think this long would be considered perminant....Oh no, that's not the case. So mean while you work with low seniority not having a chance in hell in getting a promotional bid on the worst shift. I can only thank the membership for voting down the last mods. If you remember, in those mods it combined trades giving us an even less chance of getting picked up. Since we are out numbered say 20 to 1 why do production vote on what happens to us anyway? Why do we vote on what happens to production? If they voted to out source trades and agreed to give everyone a 10,000 dollar signing bonus, what would happen to trades???????????? The next contract could play out just like that.
  7. Thanks for the support! People label us as lazy because they see a few sitting around drinking coffee all day. I took a test with over 600 people, and scored in the top 30. Went to school for 3 years, trained on the job at the same time so I could better my self and family. You don't here about line workers dying on the job, but you do here about trades. Its not fun being 40 feet in the are on a ladder, but its what I choose. The job has allot of pressures that most do not see. I came from the line and have never disrespected them when they wanted me to modify there job so they could work up the line. All so they could leave on break a minute early. I came from there, I understand. Those trades who hired in from the street will never understand. I know a few who are on the line for the first time, they got a rude wake up call. Yes I want to go back to my tools. The system is all messed up, No bumping of lower trades in other plants. Ive been out over 3 years with no opertunities as of yet. Evertime there is a posting they dump more in the pool. Threre are one trade opening for about every 100 line jobs.
  8. I was told that Livonia wants electricians and maybe an all-around carpenter. Are there any other trades that will be needed possibly ?
  9. You wont have to worry about it much longer. Come sept mach- repair, welder fix and others are gone. Gone by not meaning red lined but gone combined. If you didnt apprentice it, it will be eliminated. This is one way to cut trades numbers, core trades is all that will be left.
  10. Ive heard of electricans getting work....how about other core trades being needed?
  11. Well I wouldnt complain about being a temp trade if I were you. I have been back on the line from my trade for two years now. I would love to be back on my tools, no openings, even for temp jobs! I have news for the ISA people... your SOL.
  12. I MAY BE WRONG BUT, CARS MADE IN MEXICO AND CANADA DONT COUNT TOWARDS PROFIT SHARING.
  13. I think this site has moved away from what its original purpose. The Ford workers forum should be about sharing information that will help make us stronger as a Union. Most of the this forum is about people bashing each other, or posting things that have nothing what so ever to do with UAW Ford . Lets keep this site clear of the stupid stuff, and let it be a tool for the upcoming contract. The company loves an uneducated, uninformed, and divided workforce.
  14. Hey guys, Whats the latest going on? Its been quiet for some time now, any movement or postings for trades lately ?
  15. Ok this moron says Im whining. Here is my original positive post, here is his negative angry response. To start....happy to be working, but... Its been a long time for many of us, years for some. Is it time we get the ball rolling to get us placed? If anyone has phone numbers, please post. Ideas on what should done? Response.... when people turn down available work for whatever reason, especially .... especially, in todays economy it makes many people a little unsympathetic. I guess after sitting on the stool and blogging for 2 years reality starts to sink in and the pink cloud of having representation fighting for you no longer exists. I can almost bet when the phone rang 20 or 30 yrs ago and ford was offering a job they would have sifted through shtt. Now its totally different, people refuse work because its not their trade!!! Im done with this turd, I have no time to argue with idiots.Im not bitter, or angry, just looking for information as I FIRST stated. Once again,I would like to here from trades. Thank you
  16. Thanks for the positive feedback. Actually you are not step one if you go to CAP because you need to have been on your tools at the location. Since I was not a tradesman their before I would not be step one. I Already spoke to IUAW about it. No need to go to CAP to be one the line, have been back over a year now, at Saline currently.
  17. Well I have 3 classes left for a BS in business from Oakland University, and if you have so many degrees and are so smart why are you still working on the line , why not take the test all these years?? Take the buyout! Let me guess your second associates degree in whining? PS I am all ready working on the line, have been over a year.No trades postings for CAP. Came from the line, I'm not above the work. Happy to be working, again looking for information and OTHER TRADES comments not an obnoxious bashing.
  18. Well it didn't take long for the bashing. First I can only speak for myself, I have not turned down one offer. I would work anywhere, I mean anywhere in my trade.Second I have not been sitting on a stool for two years. While all of you and I assume you are production ( because you are bitter) were placed when my plant closed. There were NO OFFERS for a job in my trade for a year. When they did come it was for 5 to 6 jobs for 28 to bid on.Yes I have signed EVERY bid, no I have not turned down any work. And finally I don't know what you have seen or heard but not only did I work in other Dept's when they needed help but helped other trades as needed. Please don't group everyone in the same boat, like I wont say all production are bitter trades haters who think they know everything and are to stupid to pass the test.. All I was asking for was positive information from trades, not negative from production, but thanks for the hate!
  19. Well that may true, but what about other trades, pipe fitters, toolmakers, ect. I'm tired of being left out in the cold, there is work and spots to fill. Ford wants us to drift away, and without a fuss they will get away with it.There is room but elected chairs, and presidents don't want to piss off all the low seniority trades.
  20. To start....happy to be working, but... Its been a long time for many of us, years for some. Is it time we get the ball rolling to get us placed? If anyone has phone numbers, please post. Ideas on what should done?
  21. We have been in production the last year and a half. I mean they could of placed us in trades in zone one, but current chairs dont want to piss off voters by loosing any overtime. They could absorb us and be done with it. They are trying to get us to take a buy out by leaving us out. Guess whos letting them! Even dangled a carrot by offering us back our trades pay to sell out current trades by voting for mechanical groups..
  22. Try being out 3 years....Wixom trades got left to rot. There where places for all of us to go. The company dragged their feet and guess who let them.
