  1. The Michigan law also provides for fines but as far as I know the State or even local enforcement has never happened. The police don't have the time or care about this law. They may have taken away your right to smoke while working but hey, you can still go out and get drunk on lunch or high on pain killers.
  2. Ford is not a private company. They are publicly traded on the NYSE stock symbol (F) The shareholders should hold the management accountable for how they run the company.
  3. If you purchased through TESPHE you don't actually own Ford Stock, you own shares of the Ford Stock Fund a key distinction. In this case yes they can force you to sell; just as they Ford/Fidielity are forcing us to sell our shares of Magellen Fund. On the other hand, if you say have an E*Trade account and purchased your stocks that way, I don't know that they could FORCE you to sell. Ford is organizing right now to ask someone for a large loan using plants, equipment and or facilities as capital for this loan. It was implied that the loan was for product development.
  4. My plan is to take the buyout $100k and stay till the end. Extrapolating from the people around me I would guess that more than 500 will be looking to transfer, and more than 500 will want to retire... Which in turn means you're likely to be staying till the end.
  5. Stop the insanity! PLEASE. This guys probably talking about the transfer moving allowance and probably has the comma off by one spot. Transfer moving allowance is about $2,800.00
  6. The people I spoke with today must have been trained by L.W. She's not real bright. But I did get a nice DVD entitled "You Can Achieve Your Dreams" :happy feet:
  7. Chrysler did not give employees vehicles with their buyouts. They did give them $10,000 voucher (pre-tax) towards the purchase of a new DCX vehicle. At the time with employee pricing you could have almost got a Dodge Neon for "free". My father-in-law purchased a nearly top the line Grand Cherokee. It was a POS he traded it in about a year later for a Durango. One thing I could never figure out; Why the heck anyone, would get chrome 20" rims and tires on a 4x4 and then actually take it off road?
  8. I'll be honest.... I've changed my mind at least 3,4,5....10 times. I'm still not 100% sure what I'll actually do....but I have narrowed it down to buyout or transfer when the plant closes. I do NOT want to transfer to Michigan, I want to pick where I go. (won't happen) I'm not doing the education buyout and I don't qualify for any retirement buyouts.
  9. Maybe you got more info than I did. I'm not transfering anyway... I didn't even see a DTP table. I went to the afternoon meeting Tuesday and went back on Wednesday afternoon for personnal Q & A. The large white guy from the NESC that did most of the presentation on day one was gone and he was the person I wanted to talk too. Rumor had it he had to catch a flight for the next plants meetings. Good luck with your transfer!
  10. That's not exactly how it has worked for me. I flowed back/ transfered into NAP. I received my first $10,000 at the end of the first week there. On my one year anniversary I received my second payment of $15,000 and I'm awaiting my 2nd anniversary date to get my final $20,000 check. That' my issue with taking a buyout, I want both my last transfer check and a buyout. Sure it sounds greedy, but I think Ford owes me the transfer regardless of whether or not a take a buyout. Yes, it is taxed at the bonus rate. Also, by the middle of the first week I had received $1500 ish for transfer moving expenses, these monies were paid locally by the plant without being taxed whatsoever. Later, after I could PROVE my wife had transfered we received an additional $1800 ish, again untaxed paid locally by the plant. All told you should receive just under $49,000 to transfer.
  11. I went to the afternoon meeting yesterday, and went back today to get questions answered. I came home, pretty much empty handed with a "Talk to labor relations" and a bunch of rumors. One official from the international union said that if I signed up for a buyout I'd be gone by the 1st of the year. Completely on the other hand I was told that those that take the $100K would be staying till then end. This was second hand information from Local VP susposedly from Ken MacFarland. I also could not nail down information regarding backing out once you sign up for a buyout. Someone that has previously taken the buyout may have that information in their retirement package, if so please provide and enlighten the rest of us. People that opt for a transfer will actually be leaving first so they can back fill at the Rouge. I was told 700 people could (or have) elected to buyout or retire from the Rouge and that people from NAP would be needed imeadiately to backfill those positions. Retirees would be the second group that gets to leave from NAP, based on seniority. BTW -- For DTPM and Dearborn Derek today everytime Dearborn Truck Plant was mentioned it was referred to as 'The Rouge' so I'd suspect you're right people may not end up in the truck plant but other facilities at the Rouge. BTW -- Could someone please PM (or post) me with an explaination of what we are going to be required to do with/for the VEC. If we are TLO'd from Ford do we have to seek employement? Also Joe Lee said that once we go to one shift the schedule is steady work no more down weeks. I guess my current plan is to sign up for the buyout and back out if I don't like the termination date, then ride it out till the end......
  12. News late today reports that the talks have broken off, earlier than planned, and that no deal with happen between GM and Nissan. Wall Street is way up today, with it, Ford stock is up over $0.57 and is one of the top 5 most active stocks on the day. Reports have Nissan now looking to talk with Ford about a merger. What do you think? How would a merger with Nissan benefit Ford, specifically Ford North America? Sure Ford has excess capcity but what products could Nissan fill that capcity with? I personally don't like the idea of mergeing with Nissan, I think Honda would be of much greater benefit. My bad Ford is up about $0.35 to $8.57 (Not up $0.57)
  13. According to a Detroit News article Visteon is closing its Chicago fuel tank plant. Sorry for no link but here is a quote from the article: Visteon's Chicago plant mainly produces fuel tanks for Ford, and the automaker's fuel-tank contract will be moved to an Automotive Components Holdings LLC factory in Milan, Mich., Visteon spokesman Jim Fisher said.
  14. Hmmmmmm....... What percentage rate of taxes do you pay in Canada? I claim single zero during the year, to insure that I over pay by a little. Married no kids, with only major deduction being mortgage interest. During the year the government, state and local, take about 30% TOTAL each week. After I file my taxes, at the end of the year, it usually works out to about <20%.
  15. Yes. The ACTUAL departure/termination/seperation dates for employees choosing either a buyout, education package or retirement package will begin in January.
  16. Maybe someone else can explain..... or agree with my take... But The way I read that document is that those people that are taking special retirment packages get to PICK when they leave up till late next year. I want a buyout but I also want to pick when I leave.
  17. Damn.... that's a flashback. I remember being able to hear the NHRA Northern Nationals from my parents place! Milan is a safe town.
  18. Milan - 45 minutes to DTP US 23 to I-94 Very small town, older town, blue collar, with diverse population, Decent tax rates, BRAND NEW High School, no real shopping district, but they have one decent Kroger store. 25 minutes to Ann Arbor, 15 minutes to Dundee (Cabella's) Before transfering to NAP I grew up in Saline.
  19. Ya, I know about the MKZ but that is a glorified Fusion and the MKS is 18 months 2 years away. I didn't mention the MKX or Navigator for that reason. I know I missed the Econoline built in Ohio. I will restate again that those current working in CAP and TLO'd from CAP have good future. Look at the products you have and the products your getting. I'd certainly rather be working at a plant like CAP then one that is closing such as my own NAP. Reasonalbly thinking people will see the handwriting on the wall that clearly reads. ALL PLANTS THAT WILL REMAIN OPEN WILL RUN AT FULL CAPCITY. 3 CREWS ACCROSS THE BOARD. So take an honest, hard look at your plant and figure out if your getting or loosing product and make your buyout decesion based on that plan.
  20. Focus - WAP - Wayne, MI Fusion - Mexico Mustang - AAI - Flatrock, MI Edge - OAK - Canada Crossover Not really car or truck Five-Hundred - CAP - Chicago, IL FreeStyle - CAP - Chicago, IL Crossover Not really car or truck Crown Vic - STAP - Canada Town Car - Wixom to be STAP F150 - Dearborn, Kansas City SuperDuty - KTP Louisville Expedition - MTP Wayne Explorer/Sport-Trac - LAP Louisville Escape - Kansas City Ranger - TCAP - MN to be Thialand That covers everything doesn't it? Mecury not listed because they have ZERO uniqunic(sp?) products. Town Car is Lincoln's only product......
  21. Please keep us all up to date with this which I'm sure you will anyway. I'd be very interested to know what locations employees at ACH plants get to choose from. Orginal flowback included ALL Ford locations accross the country.
  22. Norfolk Southern was at the Job Fair at the plant a while back; they seemed very interested in employees. They do have some "yard" jobs that do NOT require travel. I too looked that Union Pacific website. It sounds great BUT.... Up to $40,000 a year first year to be on call 24/7/365, with future potential earnings of up to $75,000 a year. Also, what are the real safety statistics? Is this a high risk job as in years (many) past???
  23. 8 years Transfered into NAP couple years ago, haven't got it figured out yet.
  24. I'm interested in taking the money. If you sign up for the cash buyout do YOU get to pick your last day??????? I missed yesterdays meeting. Initially, I was interested in the Education package, but I'm taking a couple classes now, and it's just not for me. If I can't pick my departure date, I'd be interested in specific location transfers.... (Gee, I don't want too much do I)
