  1. We bought a 2019 Escape at peak incentives and A-plan at the end of April '19. This is after the 2020 Escape had been shown and I was firmly in the NO column for it. I don't care for the looks of the 2020 especially the nose. The Corsair looks fantastic, but feels smaller than my Escape and is REALLY expensive. We're really happy with our Escape, and I wanted specific features as well. The 2.0L Ecoboost, pano-roof, lane-departure/distonic cruise. I didn't even realize our Escape didn't have the paddle shifters until after we left the dealership with ours, highly unlikely to use them long term anyway. It does have the manual shifter switch on the side of the center console gear selector. I think I've used it 2-3 times. I nearly purchased a leftover 18 Escape, but it was missing the adaptive cruise and the dealer wouldn't come down enough on it, out of A-plan age. I do prefer the 18 taillights, but I'm happy with mine.
  2. Been a long time since I considered ordering a vehicle. As a non-fleet customer I've got until 5/16 to order a 2019 Escape??? Not really a fan of the 2020 design and they still don't have a production timeline of "Baby Bronco/Maverick" nor final production form. Bronco and Baby Bronco development seems to be taking forever! -Former NAP employee.
  3. I'm sure the new NAFTA 2.0 and Trump will save you. LOL The sky is NOT falling.... yet. At least wait till the mid-term elections are over.
  4. The mileage you got in the Taurus is impressive given that 27mpg is it's EPA highway rating. Your EcoSport is still pretty new, especially mileage wise, you might still see mpg improvement going forward. Also physics plays a HUGE roll in mileage. The "BIG" engine in the Taurus doesn't have to work very hard (rpm/hp/torque) to move the car and it will lump along at 1800 rpm at 45-50mph. The EcoSport weighs about 600-1000lbs less than the Taurus (depending on how equipped) The EcoSport with it's tiny 1.0L 3 cylinder engine has to work a LOT harder to move that mass more rpms = more fuel burn. Tons of other factors involved as well. #quityourbitching
  5. Here's the latest on the 2020 Explorer in Police Interceptor guise...... https://www.caranddriver.com/news/this-is-the-new-2020-ford-explorerin-cop-car-form
  6. Thank you. They're 'surprised' by the build date as the dealer had given them a significantly different timeline.
  7. My father a retired Ford Motor employee would appreciate a status update on their 2015 Ford Explorer. VIN: 1FM5K8D88FGC69373 Thanks. I'm a former Ford Motor employee having received a buyout package from NAP. -Steve

    The New Fords

See the car connection.com for a single photo of the new Fusion front end. http://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/for...nWXrpZ6tGqJI%3D
  9. Yes, but that was because you were interested in buying a Focus. If you were interested in a F150, Expedition or SuperDuty I'm sure they would have bent over backwards to make a deal. Fuel efficent vehicles are 'popular' now because gas prices have gone up, just as Explorers were popular when gas was $1.25.
  10. Hey, Hey, Hey, I just took a look at this thread. Notice the design theme, that nearly matches the future Taurus. The lower-intake the hood lines and even the headlights have simliar design language.
  11. Hey, could someone remind me how much was/is the federal tax withholding on the $100,000 buyout check? I did the M99 W-4 and just filed my taxes and wondering if I saved anything. In the interim I earned about $3,000 in interest. Thanks.
  12. I made sure to right click and save this time. Looks good..... but this thread will disapear soon.
  13. I like it. I see the new F150 grille in the grille of this Taurus. The mesh with the bar design looks better IMO then that of the Edge or Flex.
  14. Didn't see the other post. Mods feel free to delete this thread.
  15. They've added some character lines to the entire body and bed and put the SuperChief concept grille the front end. The interior shot makes it appear very very busy with a LOT of buttons. The pictures are of a Supercrew, to me the cabin space appears larger especially noticed longer appearing front doors. The pictures are over at www.thecarconnection.com Wow sorry about that..... must already be thinking about thanksgiving pie..... It's spy shots! DOH
  16. Yes, but the government doesn't pay interest on my refund. This way, for at least six months my money is working for ME not the government, it's a net gain for ME.
  17. I used to work at the Norfolk Assembly Plant. My buyout date was June 29th, shutdown. I still live in Virginia.
  18. It took two weeks to get the buyout check. I personally claimed married 99. The federal government did not take any income tax (they still took social security and medicare) My buyout check was $89,000+. I will owe the government money at the end of the year, but it will be FAR less then $25,000 that they would have taken from my check. I have until Jan 15 to make that estimated tax payment WITHOUT penalty. Anymore questions....

    Ford Edge Sport

I'd be thrilled if Ford made more coupe models! Ford only offers the Mustang and Focus. Neither of which I'm interested in. I don't want to drive a Mustang because A: I'm not having a mid-life crisis yet, and B: I don't want every 19 year old Ricer wanting to race me at every stop light. OTOH - The Focus is a car for college kids or first time new car buyers, I'm way past that. I'd like to see at LEAST a Fusion coupe, or better yet use the Mercury line up as the coupe department. I think a Miata rebadged as a Mercury is a great idea. Conceptually, I didn't like the grille on the new Lincoln MKR? (the coupe concept). I do like the new Lincoln sedan and think a coupe version would be OUTSTANDING. HELLO Ford is anybody listening? In the Fusion marketplace it seems everyone else does have a coupe version. I havn't heard that the Solara is going away, but I have seen spy shots of the next Accord coupe.
  20. Ford's fuel economy is going to look bad especially compared to GM. The reason being is GM is using cylinder deactivation technology on many of their new cars. A friend is getting 30mpg in his Impala. Instead of focusing on more high horsepower variations of the Mustang Ford needs to improve fuel economy. It's a simple
  21. If you're really good at using the internet you can probably find Mr. Mulally's home address and send a package there. I used to live in Michigan and remember when Bill Ford and his wife bought a house in Ann Arbor. I did a drive by once to check it out, couldn't see a thing from the road but it's in a pretty nice neighorhood right along the Huron river. Also a Explorer was parked across the street, presumably security. This was about the same time I saw a prototype GT(40) driving around the Ann Arbor area in flat black paint, that was cool as hell!
  22. It is taxed as income, that's what we were all told at NAP. The reality of it is that THAT truck wasn't the last truck BUILT at NAP. The truck he won had been built weeks earlier and while it may have been the 'last one off the line' it certianly wasn't the last truck BUILT at NAP. I would have kept the truck, probably given it to my dad to use, with rights to borrow it at anytime. :-)
  23. WOW.... I don't know what you've been smokin but it must be good.... "The Flex is a fine looking vehicle" Some how I think you'll be the only one saying that. "Ford is in no danger of going under" Ford is a long way from being out of danger, they need product and the Flex isn't that product.
  24. I think the automakers should and can do more to make vehicles more fuel effiecent. It seems like everyone from GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, BMW, Porsche and many others are either developing or have vehicles with 500 horsepower. Really, come on, tell me what is the point of a car with 500 hp? Don't get me wrong I like speed, I like horsepower but that's not what we (as a country and as a world) need right now. And frankly, I think the automakers can do both, create a vehicle with excellent fuel economy and 300+horsepower (300 btw is plenty of hp for all but the largest, heaviest vehicles produced.) Instead of the horsepower war that the manufactures are having right now, why not put those same enginneers to work on fuel effiecency? These vehicles will sell in volumes greater than those with 500hp. What good did the Ford GT ever do for Ford? Halo, cars really don't make sense.
