  1. The politicians in the great state of California don't much care about addressing the problem so much as seeking new sources of revenue. Simply put... It's about the money. Money to fund many good and worthwhile socialist causes (<--- insert sarcasm here). :titanic:
  2. That's too funny!! Here's something that there was only a very slight mention in the media about and there's more than one study floating around... including one from NASA. The Sun is warming... Duke study... NASA study... Personally... I think it's cyclical. And, though we should be responsible we truly can't expain why it's occuring. Science can only formulate theory and hypothisize. There are more people on the planet than at any time in human history and if we all quit driving, flying, shipping, and manufacturing tomorrow there's no guarantee that the warming will cease.
  3. ...if they had one in the works for the future redesign. It's been available south of the border for some time now... along with a 4-door that everyone wants. Sam's 2005 Ford Ranger XLT 2.8l Powerstroke Diesel
  4. In Mexico you can buy a Ranger with a 2.8L Power Stroke turbo diesel and 4 doors!!! 2005 Ford Ranger XLT Quad Cab 2.8l Powerstroke Diesel
  5. There is a chassis codename of P273 for the next Ranger. Has anyone heard anything about this? Any information?

  7. Great point... but we can all aspire to ownership of such vehicles. I think that Daimler/Chrysler is doing a great job. SVT could very well have been to Ford what SRT is to DC. What sickens me is that Ford Motor Company has such great potential and yet it's never completely realized.
  8. I know Ford will never do it but it can't hurt to dream. I'm sure all of us died in the wool, bleed Ford blue enthusiasts were saying the same thing about the prospect of a new GT or Shelby GT-500 long before they were even a gleam in the eye at Ford. And guess what... they built them.
  9. I think that the Five Hundred is a little too large... A Fusion with the 4.4 liter Volvo/Yamaha V8 would be more to my liking as far as power to weight ratio. I would buy one in a heartbeat even at $30,000-$35,000. A Fusion with a 4.4l V8, 6-speed manual or auto, AWD, 350hp... Wow!! :burnout:
  10. GM is even working on a Wrangler competitor... The Car Connection "All of us are hoping (the Camaro) will be a production-approved program" in the very near future, said GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, adding that "We're all working on it as if it were an approved program." The "heritage" Camaro, which debuted in January, proved one of the most popular concepts at this year's Detroit auto show, but even as GM planners continue studying ways to craft a profitable business case, development work is moving ahead. "We're not wasting any time, said Lutz. "There is no reason to assume they would turn it down," he said of the GM board. Meanwhile, the automaker has revived the long-rumored Hummer H4 project. The Wrangler-sized vehicle was pulled from the GM schedule, Lutz confirmed, because the original "clean sheet of paper" approach, which was based on advanced, spaceframe technology, just wouldn't have been able to generate a profit. "A much more derivative approach" has now been adopted, though Lutz stressed that "it will still be a unique vehicle." As with the Camaro, GM's board has yet to give the go, though Lutz said he is "confident it will be" approved. Ford should have been on this bandwagen. Like everything else with the exception of a few BIG hits, always too late to the party.
  11. You know... I was going to point out the new Toyota FJ Cruizer. You have a fantastic point that Bill and the boys, and all of the corporate bean counters have literally no excuse. Bring the Bronco back in it's true form (large, medium, or small)... a real off-road vehicle. One that not only will look the part but will perform as well with all of the options that we off-road enthusiasts will gladly pay extra for (i.e. Wrangler Rubicon, Dodge Power Wagon, Toyota FJ Cruizer, etc.). If you don't build it... we'll be forced to go elsewhere. And, while we're there we'll be looking at other vehicles as well. The idea is to keep those that buy Ford in the showrooms to buy Fords.
  12. The last major redo of the Wrangler occured in 1997... so it looks like it's on a 10 year cycle. You don't think that Ford could build a simple little solid axle off-roader for the serious off-road enthusiast and for the not-so-serious wanna-be and recoup the cost in 10 years? I think the market is there. So much so that you can literally build a new Bronco (66-77...) from scratch. That is of course you already have a solid frame as the tubs are being manufactured in both steel and fibreglass. That is how strong the early Bronco following is. So strong in fact that if you attend the Fabulous Fords Forever car show in Buena Park California this April you'll see almost as many first generation Broncos as Mustangs and Broncos were only manufactured for 11 years as opposed to 40 years of production for the Mustang. The current condition of the automobile industry in this country is in a sad state. Fresh product is needed now. I feel that Ford is in a better position than GM currently, but DC is running away with all of the marbles.
  13. Wranglers sell well enough to justify a redesign and several new models. And what competition does it have? I guess that is what happens when you're the only game in town... I honestly believe that if Ford brought the Bronco back as competition to the Wrangler the sales alone would justify development and engineering costs. The failure to see the faithful and dedicated Ford utility vehicle segment (66-77 Bronco...) adds up to lost potential sales and revenue. And Jeeps continue to soldier on with the same basic utilitarian concept... solid axles and all.
  14. I have a '92 XLT LB 4x4 4.0l with 210,550 miles... runs and drives like new. Of course it has had regular maintenance, doesn't burn a drop of oil and easily passes it's smog inspections every two years. I love my truck. I've owned three other Rangers and they are by far the best little trucks for the money... New or Used. :D
