Ford will probably offload Volvo within time, but to who? Possibly a Volvo AB and Renault joint ownership of Volvo Cars?

I know their not popular but does anyone know if there is going to be a 2010 explorer sport tract? Or maybe a spy shot floating around.
There will be a 2010 Sport Trac but it will be pretty much the same as the 2009 Sport Trac. The 2010 Model Year will be the last of the current generation Explorer, Mountaineer, and Sport Trac. For the 2011 Model Year only the Explorer is being redesigned now as a unibody on the D3.2/D4 platform. There are sadly no plans to bring out a new Mountaineer or Sport Trac. It's kinda sad because I always thought the Sport Trac was an awesome vehicle, but thats what happens when you don't advertise it.

It is definitely an amazing looking update, however given the size of the grill, the blue oval on it is rather small

Well that's my point, luckily they have assets to sell off but who would buy those assets now? I really don't think they could get for Volvo what they paid for them back in 1999.

Just as the Topic Title says: Should Ford sell off Volvo and it's stake in Mazda? Given the current economic climate, is it worth it to sell them or hold them a little bit longer?
-
I think this may be a sign of things to come sadly. Is Mazda beginning to become a drain on Ford?

BlackHorse, Thank you for posting this I'm glad someone took the time to do it. Don't listen to what some of these dudes have to say, if they don't want to see it, then they don't have to and they don't have to read it either. They can run if they want, but it's reality. But yes indeed, today we pay our respects to all of those that lost their lives on that day. May we NEVER FORGET how America pulled together and showed the world how strong we can be. May God Always Bless America.

Believe me or don't believe me, but everyone will know more about Ford Motor Company's future after the UAW Contract Talks are settled, then they may tell more about future products for the Brands that will be left standing. Just realize that they want a simplified company. They sold Aston Martin, will sell Jag and Land Rover, and probably Volvo. Then if they phase out Mercury, that leaves Ford, Lincoln, and Mazda which they only have a part of anyway. I'm very sad to see Mercury go as I always liked their look and sporty feel to them, but that's business.

Hey everyone,
I've been on here for a few years now but never said too much, as it is just as fun to sit back and read everything that everyone talks about. This is all speculation anyway, but I've heard from various different sources that the Mercury Brand is most likely going to be phased out by 2011, with the last product being the Milan or Mariner. I've heard through some, from suppliers that when the next generation of Ford offerings come out there are no planned Mercury siblings. When the next generation unibody Explorer (ORE) comes out in 2010 for the 2011MY whether it is RWD or FWD D3 based, there are no plans for a Mountaineer. When the next generation Escape comes out for the 2012MY, it will merge with the next generation of the Ford Kuga (but will be called Escape here) there are no plans for a Mariner version, but Lincoln will finally get a version. When the next generation Fusion and MKZ merge with the next generation Mondeo, it was confirmed that there are no plans for a new Milan. It's not like tomorrow they are gonna shut off the lights and say no more Mercury as the Mercury Products will end their planned lifecycles with their Ford siblings. So when it comes time for the next generation of Fords, the Mercury's just won't return. Very sad indeed.
2009MY Last year for Mountaineer
2011MY Last year for Mariner
2009MY or 2010MY Last year for Sable (someone else said that Sable investments end in 2010)
2011MY Last year for Milan
Grand Marquis may end at anytime between now and 2010
If anyone else would like to add anything they know, it would be appreciated but we'll see where this goes. It is a shame to see the Mercury Brand go, but maybe a stronger Ford and Lincoln Brand will come out of this. Possible Ford Lincoln Dealership set up will come in the future?
2010 Explorer Mountaineer

The 2010 Explorer, Mountaineer, and Sport Trac will be the last model year of the current generation and being BOF. There probably won't be any changes except for maybe colors. This will also be the last model year for the Mountaineer and Sport Trac as there are no plans to redesign them once the Explorer switches over to the D4 platform. So yea, they will all last together until the 2010 model year is complete, with only the completely redesigned 2011 Explorer coming out.
