You seem to forget that the retirees gave MANY times during their years as active members!! Many times!!! They fought for the benefits you enjoy today!!!! Look at the union now--check out how much they are getting with this.My understanding is that they get double retirements!!! Is that fair to anyone?!?!?! Remember the ones who fought for us---REMEMBER them and fight for them the way they fought for you!!!! You better hope someone is behind us to fight for us too!!!!

The sad part is that the people negotiating this contract get double retirements and no longer care about the people who helped get the benefits we all enjoy today!!! Only voting for the retirees---which is us in the near future----will protect what our retirees fought for all of us!!! Better think hard about this contract, it is your future and probably many of your parents current life!!!!

I guess I didn't get my point across very well. I didn't mean that retirees should get a raise, I just meant that they lost things. They have received a bonus each year in Dec. that I am sure helped them out through the holidays--or that they just had fun with. We get bonuses that they no longer get as active employees. This bonus has been taken back with this contract--why?? And what else will be taken back from people who have no voice before we get a chance to retire ourselves? We really need to pay attention because it is our future they are removing things from, as well as the people who fought to get us what we have!!!!

You make some valid points but the main problem I see is a devided work force--period! the union needs to find a way to protect what we have and avoid losing it because of this devision. Without forethought we will be doomed soon--you are right

I agree with you, maybe we misunderstood each other. I know that once you give back you never recoup and I don't want to give back anything. I was just commenting on people frequently saying things about retirees and I don't like it. I hate the two tier pay and find it causes problems on the floor also. It is hard to have mutual respect when you work for completely different money and benefits. I wish the members would unite and fight not fight amongst themselves--retired or working. We have to walk a very fine line because the union has the toughest battle of it's existence right now. In fighting will take us down. I just know that the union will not give up the right to strike--they will keep enough language in there to get it done if needed. That is why I want to see it all before I vote. You make a lot of valid points that I agree with and I hope you share them with your teammates.

The retirees cannot vote on anything so why are you blaming them for wages--two tiered or cuts? I really feel sorry for you, you don't see the forest for the trees and hopefully speak for a minority of UAW members.

Everyone on this site always has very derogatory comments about the ones who have retired and I don't get it! They are the ones who blazed the trail for us and we don't show them any respect??? Remember, God willing you will be retired one day and we should be protecting all the retirees rights because they will be our rights soon. The knowledge of the retirees is also very important, we should all be smart enough to sort through the b.s. by now. Most of us have parents who helped us get our jobs, remember them when you cut down retirees! As for the contract 'no strike' clause, I always thought you could stirke for health and safety and the union always found a way to do that when they were really fighting for something else. Until I get a chance to see for myself without someones elses opinion, I will not decide on my vote and you shouldn't either. Check it out on paper, not from your teammates mouth, make an informative and intelligent vote--as we always should. Also, the comment about the retiree having an opinion and sitting on their ass--they earned that remember, and one day you hopefully will have earned it too!

I have never trusted vote counts at Rawsonville---ever!!! I think it has always been and always will be fixed, ever look at the 'chosen' folks on the election commitee?????

I have never liked or trusted joelly, but who you got with enough experience, know how and connections in this terrible time to relace him? don't like him, but feel concerned about his replacement. most people who would try for his job are his cronies who only know how to kiss ass and carry a clipboard! I hope someone is out there who can really step up!!

One day we all hope to retire from Ford with full benefits. What has Gettlefinger and Ford done for retirees? Didn't they lose their fall cost of living? Did they lose vision and dental like GM? I want to be comfortable when I retire and am sure all of you do too. What are the chances? Does anyone know what they lost, because everything they lose now, we lose later--never forget that!
