I may be the only one, but I don't mind the styling of the Mustang II. I certainly prefer its look over that of the 1971-73. Of course, its "performance" is terrible, but a restomod could take of that.

I agree. That was my first car. People have to keep the time period in mind. Compared to other compact fuel economy cars, it was pretty good looking. Mine was solid red with a tan interior. It was sloooooow! But I was a kid, and the fuel economy allowed me to put money in the bank.

It was Chrysler that started it in the Mid 70's and Lee Iaccoca rev'ed it up with his famous "Buy a car, get a check!" campaign.

Lee Iacocca had written about it in his first book. The dealers wanted more K cars and Omni/ Horizon /tc4Turismo/ Charger models, but Chrysler had a huge glut of cars like Codobra, Mirada, S.t Regis and other such automotive misfits. He said to the dealers, "We can't unmake them, so you have to sell them" Chrysler then came up with a rebate program and that annoying nationwide radio ad with the frogs saying, "rebate rebate" instead of ribbit ribbit.

  3. I'm surprised they even bothered with this. It is not a CUV and cars are Kryptonite to American car makers. This has zero chance of spawning a car or any such thing for the American market. It has a low probability of making a China market car with these styling features, but I'm not expecting that either.

I hate to be a broken record but a lot of folks can’t charge at home because they’re in an apartment or condo or older home with limited electrical capacity.  That’s why fast widely available public charging is a must for widespread BEV adoption.

At one time, houses and buildings didn't have electricity at all or plumbing, or oil heat or natural gas, but the old houses were fitted with it over time or replaced. This is not an overnight change which is why I don't believe they hype that we will all drive BEV in a few years. At one time gas stations weren't a thing and you bought it at a pharmacy of all places.

Another idea is that a city like Boston can place parking meters in every conceivable place, then why can't they all be charging stations too. You'd have a captive audience to pay the meter.

I think Ford writes off those old vehicles so they don’t have to report on them.  I don’t recall seeing that on past Fords.

Although I was being sarcastic, I agree. I would hope if it gets to that point, Ford would auction them away like used cars to not have them on their books.
