  1. I believe it's more of a choice not to include those options because of an unwillingness to invest any more money in the old model. It was suggested that the recent minor changes that were made to the Expy/Nav were changes that had been mothballed for a while until they decided what to do with the Expedition as a whole and then finally pulled the trigger on the minor MCEs while they were waiting for the new models to arrive.

  2. These changes are exactly what was needed! The additional power/low end torque, the configurable gauges, the active exhaust and the mag dampers will bring the Mustang up to the content level of the Camaro while retaining its more friendly daily driver refinement and comfort advantages. Had this been available in the fall of 2016 instead of the fall of 2017, there would be one in my garage right now!

Nothing is stopping you from picking one up and parking it next to the Lincoln.

  3. I hate to say it but almost all of the improvements to this Mustang can be attributed to the 6th gen camaro from the Magnetic Suspension system to the variable exhaust. That's the amazing thing about competition, GM is finally giving Ford a kick in the pants to evolve the Mustang. Ford can no longer take it's costumers for granted. I remember when you could count the lifecycle of the Mustang platforms by the decades and a solid rear axle was considered acceptable on a sports car in the 21st century.

In any case, I'm a big fan of the updates.

Competition is great, it makes things better. That's why the F Series is so good, it has competent competitors.

  4. I never liked the frowny Mustang fascia so a bigger and sadder one doesn't really do it for me, but I think people will be surprised by how more 'exotic' the Mustang looks with some of the design choices they made. It's smoother, wider, flatter, sharper, closer to the ground. I would argue it looks more upscale, less conventional and more contemporary. The less 'lumpy' look won't be for everyone, but I'm curious to see what the GT 350 looks like.

My understanding is the 2018 GT350 will not receive the changes the other 2018 Mustang models will receive.

  5. Everything looks the same today, and they have the same capabilities and features. The real trick is not giving them reasons to NOT buy the car. Unfortunately, Focus came up with plenty of reasons. Essentially I don't think styling matters that much anymore but it's good to have something that allures people more than usual.

Agreed that the transmission woes do not help sell the car either, but respectfully disagree that styling doesn't impact peoples' purchasing decisions.

  6. If the 2018 looks like that it will have little impact on sales, because it gives a current owner little incentive to upgrade. Aesthetics are what initially drive someone to consider buying a new vehicle. You want that "gotta have it" first impression, not the "seen that before."

I think that is part of the Fusion's sales problem, beyond the market shrinkage.
