The "Daewoo Aveo"? Around here the base model runs about $14K. There isn't $14K worth of car there...

I have had 3 or 4 escorts from 91 to 93 and an 88 and 95 tracer. Never had that much problem out of them. Matter of fact I had 318,000 miles on the 88 tracer and 237000 on the 93 escort lx.(traded the other two on bigger vehicles) Sorry you had such bad luck with yours.

How do you get that I'm supporting the civic? I made no mention of it.......did you read my mind??? Truth is I really dont care for the civic either. But look at the fusion (and sisters) and the GM line up(cobalt, malibu and implala) ........chop off the the front 6 inches and the back 6 inches and you get the same frikin car! Just small, medium and large. There is no flair to any of them. They're just rectagles with tires at the corners. Give me a car with fat fenders, swoopy body lines and kick ass,in yer face taillights and grilles etc. Then throw and mouse motor in it . Give me a dash that has cool guages where everything is in reach. Give me seats that don't feel like I just fell ass-first onto a flat rock! IS IT REALLY THAT HARD?????? Why do the domestics keep throwing out these bland whimpy cars??? WTF???

Just read motor trend today. I have to agree with their opinion on Ford and Gm vehicles such as the Fusion, Cobalt etc.etc.. They always come up with a cool car concept then let the corporate lawyers and beancounters neuter it.what ends up in the show room is like a pitbull with no balls and a whimpy disposition. Guys ....it's not Toyota or Honda that Ford and GM have to worry about, they need to keep their eyes on Hyundai and YES KIA. All of the korean cars have been quickly coming up in quality and style and they are very hungry. The big warranty and small price are big selling points. Don't laugh 'em off cause they'll get ya. Hyundai just built a Major Advanced plant in Georgia that's onna put them on the map. Just watch.

In general the vega\astre was one of those "gotta love em to drive em" cars. I loved tooling around in my Astre. It was red with a black top and had some unusual factory Graphics on it. It also had the pontiac style 2 bar tail lights and a different nose that set it apart from the vega. The 74 and up vegas were not the better looking ones. I had a 71 that was fitted with a monza front end and had a small 400ci. and muncie 4 speed. I friend who owned a paint shop put some IROC Z graphics on the rockers and it was sweet. Hard to keep the ass end behind the front end though, always wanted to go in little circles. As for the Vega you drove...it wasn't a Cosworth, not the same car at all. The steering was tight, no rattles and would still have it if it werent for the old man in a pickup that creamed the side at a stop light. Insurance gave me $3000 and kept the car...sold the remains for $2000 to a guy who needed the drive train. Check the value on these cars...still high for a little car.

I smoked 3 6.6 trans ams with the cosworth! I got 28 miles per gallon with it. Maybe road and tracked f***** up? Have you ever drove one????Didn't think so. Quit talkin out yer ass...

It dont matter what "JD" says. If the toyota sells more and people "think" its a better car...Ford loses ...period.

Intermitant problem that gradualy got worse. Just before 30K fluid was replaced as per ford recall. The fix was done right after that by my Frod dealer. replaced the solenoids and fluid. Works just fine now. Dealer said that root cause of this problem was the seals used in the solenoid design. Ford the easy way out with some type of fluid additive first...bottom line if a good mechanic services the tranny with new solenoids..I believe these were also re-engineered. If the old design goes in you get the same issue. "

Why does the big 3 have a quality problem???? Let me tell you a story...GM goes to a supplier and says Make the parts cheaper or we'll go somewhere else! This company made QUALITY parts and had virtually no PPM rejects. They get rid of the Trained, skilled workers and bring in temps off the street. (quality goes down) GM comes back and says CHEAPER CHEAPER>>>DAMMIT CHEAPPER!! The company sends the lines to mexico.....Quality is in the toilette. But it's cheaper. GM fills the cars with cheap Mexican crap. GM recalls cars full of Mexican crap. GM gets bad reputation. GM yells at Mexicans CHEAPER AND MORE OF 'EM damn you! Lines go to China. True story. I was There...I saw it all...no lie! And the sad part is that Ford does the same thing. We dealt with them and Visteon too.

<_< I'll have to say that the Fusion will probably beig a small hit for the first year then dry up and blow away.......

Gm will continue to lose as long as they keep putting out ugly vehicles! :P Cobalt-BLAH Malibu-Larger Cobalt-BLAH Impala-Larger Malibu-Blah(SS.....fast but BLAH) Pontiac has the same probs with the smal-medium and large syndrome (G6-Grand Prix-GTO) BLAHx3. The Colorado? UGH! If it don't cost 35-40k and up they put the engineers' sons-in-law in charge of design and crap ensues. Remember the ASSTEK? The ugliest vehicle ever conceived and GM refused to pull it or make it look normal. They have had the attitude over the years that we will buy what ever they build and damn well like it! Now , here comes Nissan and Toyota and to some extent Dodge with cool looking vehicles that have cool features. Who wants a Malibu (Box with wheels) or a 500 (Another box with wheels) when they can drive a Charger or a Murano or Maxima or a Titan or a New Tundra TRD 4x4? HEY DETROIT!!! Give us something at least a hint of personality!?!?!? That my story and Im stikin to it. :rolleyes:
