  1. While I was browsing around their site, someone posted a question about putting an LS engine in it.
  2. It's a kit car manufactured by Factory Five.
  3. I would love to know the performance numbers. I bet it's a wicked ride!
  4. It's the first Factory Five Type 65 Coupe with Coyote power. LINK
  5. There was a tinge of sarcasm in my post. The man should not be a cop, at least one that doesn't carry firearm or have access to them.
  6. Unless Al Qaeda wants to have a float celebrating the death of infidels, I really don't care who has one in the parade.
  7. Not one of the 73 climate computer models cited by the IPCC has accurately predicted global temperature change. So why are we continuing to rely on these models to set climate policy?
  8. I forgot to mention that it was on a Mustang Dyno. I have heard (but can't verify) that Mustang Dynos read about 10-12% lower than a DynoJet.
  9. The club has talked about doing a road course day. There are a couple of small road courses around Houston. I'm all in if they do it.
  10. So my Mustang club was participating in a charity dyno event at KP Racing (a Houston speed shop) and I decided to see what my little V6 would do. I lined up behind a couple of Vipers (one making nearly 1,000HP!), murdered Challenger and a fellow club member's 2012 GT. My little red V6 actually drew some attention out of sheer uniqueness. So the deal was one dyno pull and a simulated quarter mile run. They get it all strapped in and did the dyno pull. The guy operating the computer actually said "Wow! Not bad! That's a little hot rod!" The result: 240HP/228TQ at the rear wheels. The quarter mile sim resulted in a 13.99 at 98mph. I'm pretty satisfied with those numbers for a bone-stock V6 Mustang (it doesn't even have a high-flow air filter in it). It was also the first time for me to hear the 3.7L at full wail and I have to say, it's great sounding for a six. It doesn't sound bubbly or high-pitched. I got a few complements from other attendees for my car which felt pretty good coming from guys with serious metal lined up. A club member with a '13 GT500 made 550 (didn't get the TQ). One other note, a black Z06 doing the quarter mile sim let out a HUGE puff of oil smoke from under the hood right at the end of the run at the highest RPM. It still ran but the owner had the hood up in the parking lot afterwards. I never got a chance to find out what happened but I hope it wasn't serious. It was the only car to puke while I was there. It was my first time to dyno and a great experience with a bunch of fellow car nuts. A club member videoed my run and is going to send it to me soon and I'll post it. Now, to start saving for a new ECU tune and cold air intake....
  11. You've never seen me driving a Camry rental....
  12. So JPD, what's the Aussie press saying about the 2015 Mustang?
  13. I'm digging it. It's a step away from the retro design without losing the Mustang DNA.
  14. You're correct that the Constitution granted powers to the federal government since it's very purpose was to establish a functional central government, mainly to perform the the two basic functions you mention. However, by granting those powers, the states also placed limitations. The Tenth Amendment reserves powers not enumerated in the Constitution for the Fed to the states. In US vs Lopez, SCOTUS upheld that Congress had exceed its enumerated powers. I think an important fact here is that the enumerated powers were granted to the Feds by the states. Article V gives the states the power to alter those powers if they deem it prudent.
  15. I don't think anyone is saying turn it all over to the states. The debate is over where the lines should be between state and federal governments. Over time, the lines have become blurred.
  16. As I understand it, the Anti-Federalists opposed the Constitution because it did not specifically enumerate individual rights which, as we all know, was addressed in the Bill Of Rights. Many of the Federalists opposed a Bill Of Rights only because they were afraid it would later be interpreted as the ONLY individual rights by a tyrannical government. The Constitution addressed a need for a central government since the Articles Of Confederation were severely lacking as a basis of government. However, one must note that the clearly defined separation of powers and enumeration of Federal power were intentionally limiting boundaries. Over the years, those boundaries have been pushed. Whether the expansion of Federal power is good or bad is the debate as it stands today. Should an Article V convention be called? HEALTHY debate is a good thing and if enough states call into question the scope of Federal powers, then it should be debated. It's why Article V exists.
  17. They are still strong advocates of gun safety and responsible ownership. The lobbying and political advocacy is a direct result of the attempts to ban firearms. The gun grabbers complain about the political activities of the NRA but they are the ones that cause it. They demonize the NRA and the result is the intransigence regarding any gun control legislation. Richard Dreyfus's proposition makes the NRA a major part of the solution instead of an enemy to be destroyed. I sincerely believe that this attitude toward many of the issues in this country would go a long way toward solutions. Both parties could learn much from this lesson.
