  1. i have been on indefinite layoff for a month now and i know that there are around 100 or so on layoff with me, just before i left the new edge work was running terribly, they could not keep the jobs running for more than a half hour or so at a time, that was before the layoff, i know now that since the bottom 100 or so are out the door ( the hard workers) that they are having to replace us with the dead weight, i assume that things have gotten worse, the taurus is gone and the place is dead. dont know what the future holds, alot of unmanageability at buffalo in the upper ranks. i think things will pick up after buyouts, we need to get rid of 400, 200 have signed up so far, dont think theyll get the #'s, people on layoff will be out of a job of not. good luck
  2. is there anyone who has taken the education package already that has gone through the school registration process? are there special edopp forms to fill out or do they use the etap forms? if anyone has any info please pass it on if possible. thank you, God bless
  3. Is anybody that is taking the education package wondering if they will be able to start school in january? the buyout deadline for buffalo stamping is nov. 27th, the way things seem to be going with unanswered questions i am wondering if i should start to enroll or not. i have been hearing there is a period of waiting from your last day of work until the time you actually receive your buyout money. technically i don't know for sure that my last day will be jan 1st, i am assuming it will be but who knows? I am ready to move on like the rest of my buyout brothers!!!!
  4. i am concerned or paranoid about taking the education package, what's to stop ford motor from bailing on their promises of 2 or 4 years of school plus benefits plus wages if sales continue to decline and the company continues to go under? they bailed on the retirees. come contract time they might just decide that they miscalculated on the numbers like the do everything else and realize that they can't live up to these buyout agreements. sorry dude you're gonna hafta drop out or pay your own way to school, oh yeah we can't pay your benefits either, and no more half salary. i'm starting to lean towards the 100 g's. am i over analyzing this?
  5. i work at buffalo and we were down on friday for dayshift im pretty sure afternoons ran and saturday, i think the plant is business as usual although im sure some employees are dealing with the after effects. other than than that the new edge jobs have been running like crap, they cant seem to keep them going for more than a couple of hours at a time. another slow launch. they just laid off approx. 50 to 100 hourly indefinitely of which i am one due to the balance out of the taurus work. i transferred to buffalo from wixom 4 years ago and now that i am on indefinite layoff i am signing off on my rights and returning to wixom, hopefully to be placed back in michigan, if not i will be taking the buyout, the buffalo plant is is a prime example of the union bending over to please the company, that is how we have the edge work and supposedly the fairlane work is coming also soon. the company does whatever it wants and the union backs them up. that is the only way to keep work coming in. other than that it is a miserable place to work. good riddens buffalo!! back to the d- town baby.... GO TIGERS!!!!!! i dont think stap should be affected by the storm at all.

  10. i made the big mistake of coming to work everyday and actually doing my job, since i was young i always put pride into doing my job, i've been a worker all my life so i figured do a good job the supervisors will recognize this and take care of me. what a mistake i made!!! i have now learned that anything that seems common sense in the normal world is the exact opposite in the plant, i have constantly been abused and taken advantage of by management while the lazy man gets over on me and the other people who don't mind doing their job, in the rare instance that i end up getting a decent job, it isn't a matter of a day or two before i am pulled off that job and replaced with a lazy bastard, therefore i end up on the harder jobs constantly, i have never seen a place so mismanaged in my life, first thing in the morning when everyone comes in , the first priority for the supervisor is to work around the lazy people, placing people on jobs and continualy throughout the day moving people around to accomodate the lazy people, the same thing happens evryday, when there are too many people and they need to send people home they automatically send the lazy ones home, they never ask anyone else if they might want to go home, there is no such thing as having a " job " that you go to evreyday, don't get me wrong alot of lazy people get the same easy jobs everyday, they go to the bathroom every half hour , walk around and socialize smiling, they wear nice clothes to work and they never get dirty? my clothes are filthy, oh and when it's time for overtime, guess who's sucking it up? the lazy ones, i'd love to work some overtime but i'm so exhausted after 8 hours that i usually refuse it. therfore i have begun to go out on medical for stress and anxiety, i literally want to hurt some of these people, the lazy one's and the management that continues to to cater to them, i am now in the process of changing my work habits which isn't easy, my new years resolution is become a lazy bastard!!! the problem is once you show them that you can work they make it very difficult to become lazy, they constantly stand over your shoulder , constantly ride you, they wanna know why i'm not working??? so this is my experience and i will continue to go out on medical as long as this goes on, by the way the union knows exactly what is going on and they say that management can do whatever they want, i've tried to go through the chain of command and the result has been nill. i have no confidence whatsoever in my union. they are all for themselves, i work at buffalo stamping plant, i transfered from wixom in 02, worst mistake i ever made, i am very close to quitting and going back to michigan without a job, thats how bad it is. merry christmas
