I think you are underestimating the Union membership. I am not against my Union leadership, I think Ron has underestimated the willingness of the majority of OUR Union to draw the line in the sand on this. And as far as your "support the retirees" is that like the last concessions??? When we "supported the retirees" by making them pay more out of pocket, and giving away the things THEY EARNED ?? I hope we dont keep "supporting the retirees" the way we have or they will all be BROKE with NO HEALTH CARE if we keep going the way we have. I agree our backs are against the wall, but I think instead of surrender, we come out fighting. Ford is using this to scare everyone into giving up the farm, and the sheeple are following along , hook line and sinker. The Co. cant tell Congress "We really dont need the money" and then tell the Union " We need concessions" ......Someone is being LIED to. Who do you think the Company is blowing smoke at ??

He is still in China....the Premier ,or whatever he is called, is worried that the impact of the US markets falling, will impact the Chinese markets. I think we should just demand a 6 month National Contract from now on..........thats about how long the last ones have lasted. Some of us were here back when FoMoCo was making RECORD profits...did the Company offer to open the fucking Contract THEN to give us a little more of the pie ???? NO ! The biggest problem is in what you just stated... "ironclad".. There is no such thing anymore, the contract is only good until it "needs to be reopened" now. I say to hell with it No giving up JSP, NO giving up wages, No giving up anything period..otherwise they say they wont close any more plants, we sign , and they close the plants anyway(without JSP) so we are all out of a job..

I was trying to make the point that alot of people say one thing and do another.. I attempt to buy US made products whenever possible. I will give you it is getting harder, but I do wear Wrangler, and Fruit almost exclusively. As well as Red Wings, and USA made Coats (Union Line) and hats (wayyyy more expensive). If you go to your Union hall they can direct you to Union Made products as well as the links made here.. I also buy UAW made firearms . (Colt for example) We need to support others, as much as they need to support us , that was my point. I probably did not make it clear enough, sorry about that !

How many of you will spend more for American Made products ?? I dont mean a few pennies more, I mean 30-40% more .... I for one do, when possible,and I understand some of you can't due to economic reasons...but I suspect alot of people on here talk a good game, but don't follow through..Wal Mart is closer/more convenient..

So I should stop trying to Buy American , and just shop at Wal Mart?? How about the mom and pop shops around town ? I just tell them "I am not tied to YOUR industry " so to hell with ya.. One major contributing factor has to be the way that the Exec/shareholders profits are looked at. They all want to make the $$$ NOW that way they are paid NOW. So there is little ,if any, farsighted vision going on in the Company. The result is what we have on our hands now. Companies with no real vision about where they are wanting to go 10-15 years from now. Although it pains me to say this, I must say Mr. Mullaly did seem to be taking the right steps to getting Ford back on track before the financial market collapsed.

You mean we haven't given up those (deferred for you company pukes) COLAs and raises the last 3 contracts?? (or "happy days" etc etc..) Someone must have been just messing with me.... I say NO MORE .....period...lets tell em "all in" and get this shit over and done with one way or the other. The majority of us come to work everyday and do the best job we can. I have no control over the way the Company runs, or designs thier products. I think we have already made enough concessions...actually too many IMHO , but thats another story.

Sadly, I agree with you. I was hoping that most of the people that did not know the TRUE meaning of Unions would take the buyout. Like I said in another thread,the younger workers (for the most part) won't even listen when you try to teach them about sticking up for each other, and watching your bro/sister's back, or solidarity. Its all ME,ME,ME,ME..........
