  1. I guess you didn't like the part "if permitted to occur or to continue, will imperil the national health or safety, it shall have jurisdiction to enjoin any such strike or lockout, or the continuing thereof, and to make such other orders as may be appropriate." I don't think you can make the case of a striking postal worker imperiling the national health or safety. I'm sure you will try though.
  2. Your original was about the govt., true. The post morphed into including their economy and them being isolationists. You were wrong about the Ming dynasty and China being isolationists. Twist it any way you want.
  3. I'm not quite sure what "due" means, however it shall have jurisdiction to enjoin any such strike or lockout, or the continuing thereof, and to make such other orders as may be appropriate. I do know what "enjoin" means and basically the govt. had the right to fire them. If the govt. didn't have a legal leg to stand on, where were all the court actions against the govt.? You are the one who is unimpressive.
  4. Yawn..... Sorry skippy, you said China has not changed. Now you want to be specific, Too late. Can't back-track now. You are wrong. Admit it. Takes a man to admit a mistake.
  5. I stand corrected. However I believe this has not been repealed. Sec. 208. [sec. 178. Injunctions during national emergency] (a) [Petition to district court by Attorney General on direction of President] Upon receiving a report from a board of inquiry the President may direct the Attorney General to petition any district court of the United States having jurisdiction of the parties to enjoin such strike or lockout or the continuing thereof, and if the court finds that such threatened or actual strike or lockout-- (i) affects an entire industry or a substantial part thereof engaged in trade, commerce, transportation, transmission, or communication among the several States or with foreign nations, or engaged in the production of goods for commerce; and (ii) if permitted to occur or to continue, will imperil the national health or safety, it shall have jurisdiction to enjoin any such strike or lockout, or the continuing thereof, and to make such other orders as may be appropriate
  6. I read the WHOLE Act. Not just the parts I liked. SEC. 305. It shall be unlawful for any individual employed by the United States or any agency thereof including wholly owned Government corporations to participate in any strike. Any individual employed by the United States or by any such agency who strikes shall be discharged immediately from employment, and shall forfeit his civil service status, if any, and shall not be eligible for re employment for three years by the United States or any such agency.... My Father always warned me not to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
  7. Sure, whatever, China is the same as it ever was. Funny thing, I don't recall having all this CHINESE made crap in America 15yrs ago. Talking to you is like clapping with one hand.
  8. Did you read the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947? Didn't think so.
  9. On August 3, 1981 nearly 13,000 of the 17,500 members of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) walked off the job, hoping to disrupt the nation's transportation system to the extent that the federal government would accede to its demands for higher wages, a shorter work week, and better retirement benefits. At a press conference in the White House Rose Garden that same day, President Reagan responded with a stern ultimatum: The strikers were to return to work within 48 hours or face termination. As federal employees the controllers were violating the no-strike clause of their employment contracts. In 1955 Congress had made such strikes a crime punishable by a fine or one year of incarceration -- a law upheld by the Supreme Court in 1971. You better hope you never lose your job with Ford. You don't know history, you can't read, and can't do math. If I were you and given the choice of packages from Ford, I would take the educational package cause you sure need it.
  10. Yes, same government in control. True, they have a firm control over people entering and leaving their country. Isolationists? Far from it. YOU need to re-read my post. 15 years ago there was no GM, Ford, or ANY other type of FOREIGN investment in China. Look at China today. Many foreign companies in China, investing in their workforce. YOU say there is NO change. I call bullsh*t skippy. While maybe the workers don't see much of an improvement, China is becoming an ever more powerful country by all of this. Like I said , China is the 4th largest economy in the world. They will continue to grow. You can sit in front of your computer and try to twist facts all you want, but facts don't lie. Not much has changed......tell that to all your brothers that are being or will be laid off as more focus is shifted to China for manufacturing. Bill Ford himself and all of his cronies are foaming at the mouth at the size of China's "isolated" market. And Ford is not alone. Look at the trade surplus China has with the U.S.($124 billion in 2004). Nuff said.
  11. Ming dynasty?????? WTF have YOU been smoking?????? I believe the ming dynasty ended in 1644 A.D. ( IF you can do the math, it has been gone for over 342 years.) This guy named Mao Tse-Tung, with the help of the Soviet Union, took over complete control of China in the year 1949. I think you are alittle off on your timeline skippy. And as far as change goes in China- Do you really think the Chinese would have allowed all of the foreign companies to operate within their boarders 15 years ago (around the time of the Tiananmen Square massacre). The Chinese know the best way to gain power is through their growing economy(Which is now the 4th largest in the world). During the time you call the Ming dynasty, they were for the most part isolationists.
  12. That's not my problem at all. I'm not a UAW trained electrician. I've been doing electrical work for 23yrs starting with my fathers family business, continuing through the Navy and finishing with the I.B.E.W.( International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.) where I became state certified in Virginia. I was then hired into Ford after that. I have experience in most phases of electrical work from simple residential all the way to working on Kawasaki robots. I feel my resume has and will continue to speak for itself when Ford lays me off.
  13. I'm not quite sure to whom your post is directed at, but I can tell you from personal experience, if you have your card, it puts your foot in the door. Without one, the door is slammed in your face.
  14. I really wish that was the case. He had that "deer in the headlights" look.
  15. I don't know how this test is given or who gives it, but whomever does better change the way they are doing it. Perfect example; I was a outside hire electrician. I was given an apprentice after about 1yr at the job. Trying to gauge his level of knowledge, I asked for a simple stop/start, one-line schematic. This guy put the maintaining contact IN SERIES with the start button. I don't know about any of you, but I would hope a 4th yr apprentice would know something as simple as that. To me, he just didn't have the knowledge that a 4th yr should of had. I also hope that not all of the UAW apprentice graduates are as underachieving as the ones I have seen here at NAP.
  16. Yeah, keep thinking that. Last time I checked, every electrical job I've been looking at requires AT LEAST a journeymans card.
  17. From what I understand, those people going to AAI originally came from Michigan and are now being allowed to go back. Doesn't sound good for NAP.
  18. I think NAP will be safe through 2008. I believe they are the launch plant for the next F-150. After that, I can see it being on the list for 2012.
  19. If they were to offer me the 4yrs of paid college I would take it. I've only been with the company 3yrs. I'll get out before the ship completely sinks.
  20. That's a new one. More conjucture than fact I'm sure. <_<
