  1. Do trades outside of the rouge have 2 seniority dates (date of entry and trade seniority date) or just date of entry? Thanks and let me know.
  2. Wow...1000k=1 million dollars!!!!! SWEET!!! :happy feet: It must be a bonus for not taking the buyout.
  3. I thought the whole point of concept cars was to generate interest in future designs and technology? That's one ugly vehicle, aside from that what's really new in it? hydrogen fuel cell? already being done in other cars. onboard computer and video system...whoo bold move there. It just angers me to no end that someone up top thought that this was a good idea and invested a lot of money in it.
  4. the 859 is fairly accurate, the plant manager said he wants to get it down to about 500...the fuel tanks made there are for the escape, crown vic, mustang, edge, econoline, (taurus line just got shut down:() damn and one other one that I can't remember. Things aren't looking good at all there.
  5. Those meetings are a joke, 2 friends signed up for them and guess what? NO ONE was there. There were signs telling you where to go and they went and waitied for 15 minutes...no one came by, no notes NOTHING. So what the hell are we supposed to do? The company that is supposed to help us find our options blows us off, things just keep getting better.
  6. Millwright, 33 yrs old, 12 yrs total in, 8 on trades. Seriously considering the education option.
  7. I know...there's one guy who has over 40 years in who said "I'd like to retire, but I just don't know what I'd do with all my time..." that's fucking pathetic in my book, not only because he's screwing a young guy out of a job but goddamn are you that boring that you couldn't find something to be interested in/do with yourself? Every day I think of a ton of other things I'd rather be doing...oh well nothing I can do about it.
  8. What he said. Maybe now that they're possibly putting some of us back on the line maybe some of those old guys will be able to leave.
  9. I know I'm considering taking it, I'm not in GEN yet, but will soon be. I've been hovering with 8 guys below me before I get put in GEN. I think they're getting ready to cut some more heads in the rouge in oct. I believe there are 30-40 mw's in gen throughout the rouge with more to come. It's not looking good, they've got us by the short and curlies. That's okay after a meeting with my professor on monday I'll have a better idea of what to expect and what to do, I'm glad I started back to school already, just wish I would've done it sooner. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE, KEEP YOUR HEADS HELD HIGH!
  10. I believe there will be meetings this next week, I'm not going to be able to make it cause I'm in school at that time, I'm sure I'll hear all about it, I was hoping that someone (perhaps the wizard) already had the details. What's the mood like at the truck plant?
  11. just wondering if anyone has any specifics, been hearing a lot of things but nothing concrete or detailed.
  12. You wouldn't be able to hang working on the line. There's a reason the pay is so high, crappy environment all around. What was the turnover rate for the temps at GM? 80%? Yeah you probably wouldn't make it, you have no idea what it's like, but go ahead continue making broad generalizations about things you have NO idea about. Side note: I only capitalized one word, it's usually done for emphasis. PS WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS YOU LOOK LIKE AN ASS.
  13. It would take a lot. Almost ALL of the old equipment from the old 2.0 spi is still just sitting there, so that would all have to be removed. We've tried getting them to let us tear it out, we'd probably end up making a little money and keep everyone working for a little while selling it as scrap. They just respond "it's being looked into, we've asked for money to do it" (that's been going on for 6 months now) Then they'd have to redo all the floors, both levels...and that's just to get ready to start installing the new equipment. If the do indeed close the deftp, I'm screwed (probably am anyways) I've got about 8 guys under me before GEN. Maybe I'll take the 140, pay off credit cards and knock my house payment down to about 3-400 a month and get in a totally different line of work.
