Or, if your phone is close enough, you can just say 'Hey Siri' and it will wait for your command. And, it just dawned on me, Sync should pick up and listen. Now that I think about it, I've done that in our Flex. "Hey Siri, call wifey work" and it dials her work number using the Sync system for voice. "Hey Siri, text wifey what should I get at the store" will send her a text with those exact words.
My new truck has eyes free, so I just hold the button down on the steering wheel and it will activiate Siri, but I can still say 'Hey Siri' and she will pick up.
In short, yeah, I think it will do what you want as long as the phone is close enough to hear you. The cup holder in the center seat/console should be close enough.
