  1. We'll let's see...Ford has 54000 uaw workers. that would mean Ford would have to hire over 10000 people before the first is entitled to the top wages. Now Ford's market share is currently falling....There are all ready people in the GEN and layed off....Do you realize how long someone will have to work 2nd teir before they are illegable for regular wages. it could take a decade for those first hires, if they have the pateince......Almost makes you feel guilty, Did we sell them out? the next generation of auto workers..Thier only hope is for a large buyout program that would buyout well over 10000 people. Right?
  2. All you GEN haters might be very disapointed. Check it out, read it. :happy feet:
  3. However, if the 2nd tier are kept at 20% and given a chance at "regular UAW" jobs :stats: why would they then want to negotiate a cut for those at the top 1st tier. This is, I agree though a very divisive pratice. I know people who work in such plants outside the auto industry and they are warnibg of a tense work environment down the road.
  4. Whats to stop Ford, in an effort to take full advantage of the 20% 2nd tier, from putting large numbers of current workers in the GEN (while they are rebuilding and restructuring) for 1 year and then 2 days later when that year has expired from hiring a whole slew of 2nd tier replacements. Leaving a whole lota of folks out in the cold. Do we still have call back rights?
  5. Initially, and next contract we will still have a vote. If they change it Vote it DOWN :stats:
  6. Im hearing that Fords contract is much different in regard to the 2nd tier new hire. It will NOT be restricted to non-core, will be ALL new hires, but will include this 20% cap. Much different than GM's or Chryslers :stats:
  7. While the two tier workforce is not fair to new workers and divides us on the floor, a 20% cap means they will never become a majority and also once the 20% cap is reached they should be joining us in the top tier, giving them incentive to keep our wages intact in future contracts.....Right? That is how I'm hearing it explained. :stats: :stats:
  8. The second tier, according to The Detroit News, Nov. 5th, Will be CAPPED @ 20% of total workforce, meaning they are not become a majority or now where near majority, thus not enough to vote are wages down. Also, as hiring continues those remaining above the cap of 20 % should move into the top tier, thus giving them a reason to see our teir get increases etc..etc..... :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:
  9. Job security via plant product comitments do not mean there will NOT be job losses. (unless you are willing to relocate or take a buyout.) This contract could lead to job classification eliminations. Your plant may stay open BUT you may still be out of a job, bumped down, relocated via new GEN rules, or simply bought out. We must READ the FINE PRINT!!!What happens to current "non-core" positions/classifications. What of those jobs the UAW agrees to let be outsource? What happens to those currently in those jobs? :reading:
  10. It's not going to happen, for reasons mentioned above plus no one spends $20,000 to $60,000 on a vehicle built by a bankrupt company. Ford knows this too.
  11. Does anyone else have the feeling that Fords 2007 contract negotiating strategy has been in the works for a few years now?
  12. Wow! this kinda shit almost makes you want to vote anything and everything they throw at you down . Threats only piss you off, you know? :reading: I'm starting to see why so many are turning to the foreign transplants, at least they are wanting to create American jobs, All the big 3 seem to want is to move jobs overseas.
  13. Thats true, it would cut us in half!!!!!Big changes coming, anyway you look at it, at least we ALL have a vote.........
  14. Does not sound as bad as I first thought. Hopefully not too many jobs at stake. Sounds like just a new way of approaching thier (Chrysler/GM) work. Have to wait and see what Ford has in mind. :shades:
  15. Damn! And all indications are that Ford wants to do MORE job cutting. This is going to get interesting. I also see mentioned more machine maintenance to be done by operators. All "first line" maintenance. What the hell is first line?
