  1. I purchased an '83 Escort GT in '83 (my first new car). It had fuel injection and all the brochures and car magazines said this was the first year FI was available on the Escort. See this link: http://www.escortfocus.com/html/history.html -Chip in SC (who still has his 1983 Escort brochure)
  2. Wow, this brings back some memories! My very first brand new car was an '83 Escort GT. That was the first year fuel injection and a 5 sp (I think) was available on the 1.6L engine with a whopping 88hp if I remember correctly. Averaged around mid 30's mpg. Traded a '77 Trans Am in on it. Bought this car before I could drive a manual transmission, had my uncle go with me to pick it up. We stopped in an empty industrial park where he showed me how to take off and I drove home from there. Called my girlfriend (now wife of 22+ yrs) who told me to come over so she could see it. Choked it down twice on the way over. :blah: Desert Tan w/ tan cloth interior/TRX pkg with aluminum wheels that looked like they came off of a Porsche. Neat handling little car for the times. Now I've gotta go look for my old window sticker. -Chip in SC
  3. I was never able to get my window sticker as a .pdf. I think Flash managed to get one but he's being quiet about how that happened. Doesn't matter now since I've got my car with the real window sticker. -Chip in SC
  4. If you're bucked then your car is ready to be built, all parts for its assembly are at the plant and should be finished by tomorrow. -Chip in SC
  5. Jim, Call VOPC everyday, even twice a day and Customer Relations daily. When you hear that your vehicle is "bucked", it's about to be built. The produced date is usually the next day. -Chip in SC
  6. But, you can do it yourself, just as many of us already have. All you have to do is follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread (pg 1). -Chip in SC
  7. "Bucked" basically means your car is ready to be assembled, the parts are in the plant. I got the "bucked" info on June 15 and my car was built on the 16th. -Chip
  8. When you call the number, you go right to the automated system (ERL). Eventually you are given the choice between using the VIN or the Order Number to track your vehicle. I had better success using the Order Number than I did with the VIN. Chip
  9. That's how mine worked out. ERL kept saying "as of June 16, you vehicle is scheduled to be built week of June 12, 2006". Mine was built on the 16th. Chip in SC
  10. Probably about the average wage there too ($0.02/hr)
  11. Finally some new info!! Guess you're gonna be one of the first to be built after the shutdown. Can't wait to see pics. Chip
  12. Congrats Bob!! Can't wait to see pics. If my date is as accurate as yours, I guess I won't get mine until next Monday. Have fun today......I can feel the excitement. Chip in SC
  13. Blitz, VOPC keeps going between "week of June 25" and "week of July 1". According to my invoice, it takes 9 days to ship from Flat Rock to Columbia so if it shipped on the 22nd and it does in fact take 9 days, it should be here Saturday, July 1. If that happens then I should get it Monday the 3rd. Hopefully it will arrive early. Chip
  14. This just in....... Per VOPC @ 11:02pm 6/24/06 "As of June 22, 2006, your vehicle has shipped via rail carrier with an estimated time of arrival week of July 1, 2006." Guess I'll be making daily trips by the Ford railyard now. Hope the guards don't run me off. I need one of those remotes Adam Sandler has in his new movie. Chip in SC
  15. According to the '07 Order Guide (3/13/06 version) the only colors for the CS/GT are Redfire, Vista Blue, White, and Black. Chip in SC
  16. This just in from VOPC..... "As of June 16, your vehicle has been released from foreign assembly plant with an estimated delivery, week of June 25, 2006." Getting close now! :happy feet: Chip in SC
  17. Vehicle Status Update for my Mustang: Per VOPC this morning (6/19/06)- "As of June 16, your vehicle has been produced with an estimated date of delivery week of July 1, 2006." Per Customer Relations - Your vehicle has already been produced.....looks like it's schedeuled to arrive at the dealership between July 1 and July 8." Will VOPC tell me when I've shipped or do I need to get all further info from Customer Relations? Chip in SC the72fins, VOPC has no status info on this order yet. Chip in SC
  18. Had a few spare minutes so I figured I would see if VOPC had anything new. They did....... "As of June 16th your vehicle is locked in for production week of June 12, 2006. ETA at dealer is week of June 25, 2006." The June 16 thing threw me off so I had to make the ERL repeat it several times just to make sure I heard right. Edit: FYI....this is the first time I've got anything other than "scheduled for production week of June 12, 2006". Does "locked" mean something different than "scheduled"? Chip in SC
  19. At least you finally got some news. I would have thought you would make it before the shutdown but I guess a lot of orders got entered between you and me. I should have mine by then so I'll at least bark a tire for ya! Chip in SC
  20. Been getting "Scheduled week of June 12, 2006" from VOPC for several weeks now. Customer Relations says my estimated delivery date is week of June 19. My dealer calls me up today saying he just found out today my car will be built the week of June 12 and my estimated delivery date is week of June 25. Either way at least I should have it by July. BTW, it will be arriving along with his first Shelby (Torch Red coupe). Chip in SC
  21. Mine still says "scheduled to be built week of June 12, 2006". Hope they get you off the Temp Delay. Chip in SC
  22. I see in K's instructions to use the first two and last 8 digits when checking the railcar number but not for the other stuff. The ERL is pretty specific when she asks for the "17 digit vehicle identification number". Thanks for the suggestion though. I might try it. Chip in SC
