  1. IF they didn't pay it back...then neither would GM and so why would FORD go to such lengths so as not to take any gov.money? In 1978 Chrysler had to pay it back and I'm sure 10/15 billion dollars now won't be forgiven. I'm sure Chrys.will try not to pay it back but I think there's no other way for them not too. People are mad enough about them getting the money in the first place....not to pay it back would start a avalanche of business' to do the same thing.Rest assured the Gov.will get their money.
  2. completely wrong!!!..................they do have to pay it back whomever told you different should recheck his scource. the uaw and the gov. will hold a certain % of each company and as the $$$ are returned each of their %'s will reduce until the gov.is repaid it's $$$ and the uaw's veba is made whole to the level that is expected.
  3. Let's get off this idea for now ok?.......Until Chrys./GM pay back their $$$ to the gov.there won't be anymore give backs. Ford IS NOT at a cost disadvantage as of now...........but because they have to pay the gov.back both Chrys./GM have operate at a lower cost in order to make money and pay the gov.at the same time.Ford doesn't have this issue. So basically All the car companies will be on equal ground for now. Now after the paybacks are complete look for the Chrys./GM workers to want to be brought up to the Ford wage to make things equal across the board. Once the UAW looks at this.....I'm confident it will go down this way. SO PLEASE FORGET WHAT JOE-BLOW WANTS AND MOVE ON..............(helps keep the blood pressure down )
  4. I don't think Ford will get more in takebacks from the union mainly because both GM/Chrys. if in bankruptcy will have billons of $$$ to pay back to the gov.while Ford won't have to therefore eliminating a need by Ford to get much of anything back from their workers. IF $$$ is the sole issue for a reopen then Ford doesn't have a need to get more from their workers....they'll be making more per car sold than the others from the getgo so if that is their reasoning it won't happen. Now if GM/Chrys. had no payback to the gov. that would be different..........but rest assured the gov.will want AND get their money back and until it does any difference in Ford's wages and the others is a mute point. while this is only an opinion...not fact it is what I think will be the result.
  5. If there is a union rep.on this blog tell us what happens to the GM/CHRYS. retirees and their pensions/benefits........are you going to protect them like the good union you pretend to be?
  6. on matters concerning Ford Motor and it's workers..(I'm glad you know your definitions) but this is the BOF not the editorial section of some newspaper. Taxes are everyone's concern but job issues/matters within Ford Motor belong here.
  7. This is The Blue Oval Forum........not a public media outlet. For Ford Employees/Retirees and their concerns about Ford Motor Company both good and bad.Let's keep it that way.
  8. Despite negative voices like shelby Ford is going to make it.......make no mistake about that. With the product coming out and the contract adjustments along with stockholders who can't afford for it to fail we'll still be there when the economy once again prospers.
  9. Tax is on the cash AND the voucher......per my tax person...it is considered taxable income.
  10. No matter how many feel their getting screwed and vote"no"it will pass make no mistake about that. As to getting getting screwed well that maybe a given but if Ford gets through this then that becomes a mute point..........so screwed yes I think all will agree.
  11. Fools maybe........but it will pass make no mistake about that.
  12. now here's a poor soul that needed the education classes that had been offered and didn't use them............brother this is one of the most disfunctional comments I've ever seen on this forum....and that's saying something.
  13. Ford lost $$$$ everywhere but South America.
  14. I took $30,000 of the $50,000 in July when I retired and $6,000 fed.(20%) was taken but nothing else since you no longer have to pay state tax, SS tax or medicare when retired. Hope this is of help to you. However if your not retired but only getting buy-out $$$ and leaving the company then all of these taxes would be due.....I don't think the union gets any.
