  1. Enjoy the break everyone and be safe! Soak up the end of the "good times" before we go to contract time. Take the time we have off not to worry about what looms ahead and just be thankful for what we have thus far. Hope all is well across the nation for Ford and all its employees.
  2. I have not been on here in awhile to check this thread. I worded the sentence wrong and wanted to seperate the two of the statements. we got rid of a lot of dead weight as well as a lot of people with buyouts. Although I agree with you that the buyouts were used by lots of people with great stories of achievment those are not the people I am refering to and you know that. I am refering to those who are in the CAP program who never come to work who insist on doing the minimum and staying on medical for phantom illnesses. Again, congrats to all the people who put lots of years in and left early, those who left and got a better education, and those who left and did other things they loved to do. And good riddance to those who i despise. Any way you look at it since the buyouts began there has been a tremendus change in athe absenteism rates at KCAP as well as quality.
  3. http://kansascity.bizjournals.com/kansasci...tml?jst=b_ln_hl Thanks for cutting a lot of dead weight with the buyouts and for everyone starting to give a crap about the f uture of our plant. although this means nothing for our future and everyone is always a target to be shutdown it feels good to know that things are at least going in a better direction.
  4. I thold you!!!! I read his check
  5. you would be wrong. I work right next to a TFT and we talk through the night and I askied him if he did not mind if he would tell me whtat he made an hour for being a TFT. He told me he thought $22/hour. I said i did not think that was right, but sure enough the next Thursdy night he showed me his paycheck and he makes about $22/hour
  6. Dear everyone, I have worked at KCAP for 6+ years now and have lived in KC my whole life. The best place to find a home is in Liberty/kearney area IMHO. There are tons of houses for sale and the schools are terrific, plus the drive to work is only aobut 15 minutes tops. I have been here long enough to absorb a ton of people transfering to here, and everone who comes here seems to love it. I also feel that KC wh ich has finding for the 2009 F-150 will be a vital part of the FoMoCO future in America. Absenteeism has really started to go in a better direction it seems like, and we are building some quality trucks every night. I encourage you to go to a KC website and check it all out. Mcmoney
  7. $22/hr is not that good when you have exactly $0 in benefits. If they get hurt on the job they are not covered and they will be fired
  8. Toyota can do things like this for one reason.......They are not union! Of course they do well with this system because they encourage good work with pay raises and promotions within the company, not a autographed football or a dinner in the cafeteria. don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for what the union has gotten me and my family, but you know that there is no way in hell that people with crap work records will stand for having to work hard to make money and the union will back them up on that
  9. I was talking to a TFT yesterday at the plant about the details of his hire. He told me something that i find very disturbing! He said that he was told that he was on a 2 year probationary period. After 2 years of NO benefits, NO gained seniority, NO vacation, NO personal days they may consider them for FT status. This to me is completely insane(if it is true). The union has sold these workers up the river. All these poor workers are going to make $22/hr for two years, but the proce they pay on their bodies will be greater than any paychecck ford will ever give them
  10. Hi I am scheduled to take the buyout on March 1st if I choose to, but I will only take it if I cna find a new job. I am interested in moving on from ford and collecting a check but I am finding a job hard to find. I have 6 years in at KCAP, and am in good standing with the union. I never miss work and I am truely a dedicated worker. I am looking for a full time job somewhere in the KC area to take. If anyone knows or has an idea for a position please email any details you can to mckown24@yahoo.com. Thanks for any help, and good luck to all micky
  11. I work at KCAP and was interested in the buyout the first time when the took the survey, but after hearing the details I decided it was not for me.. here is the deal, They offered the buyout here and all these peole took it and they set dates of departure, and all the people that were going to b e gone were excited, but then ford backed out and said they could not get things in order to get people out. Bruce Bittle had even told a friend of mine by phone that whoever was out was out the rest of the packages were being canceled. I don't know what is happening as far as that goes, but with the everyone bitching and complaining about not being gone yet, it will weigh heavy on those considering it this time. I have come to my own conclusion by talking to some of the people with 30+ years at the plant. I'll just tell you what one guy said when i asked him about the buyous. he said "Why should I take the buyout? Ford pays me a lot of money to do absolutely nothing! I sit around, shoot the shit with friends and get paid a ton of money while still not having to deal with health benefit issues." " If i were to retire i would then be on more of a budget and I would have to stay home with my wife or just get old piddling around the house"> I know this is not the opinion of ALL employees, but that is how i would feel if I were eligible. I also think that you may get a few more 100k buyouts but not many because they already had a chance and passed. I guess what it comes down to is KCAP needs to get the f irst wave of people out before they worry about the second
  12. A quick question. In 07' when Norfolk Idles will KCAP stay at 8 hours or gain some hours? If they are moving the launch of the new truck up a year then if their expectaitions are true and it is a smash hit wont they need more production? Then the third shift will prove pointless. I don't know a whole lot about the happenings and they way things work at Ford. I just kind of want to get a feel for what people feel the future of KCAP will be
  13. They told us on Tuesday that all heyboys will be cut out by next week! Also noone really knows what the deal on the packages is. They are bouncing all over as far asseniority goes, and nooone can really get a feel for what will happen. We have worked overtime 5 of the past 7 nights and will balance out on Friday between 4 to 7 hours.
  14. I grew up in excelsior springs which is about 12 miles from Kearney. Kearney is grewing a bit in the right direction, but I would urge you to consider Liberty first. Liberty is the nicest city in my opinion near the plant. They have an A+ school system and have tons of options for shopping and eating. Kearney is pretty close to liberty though so if you can get a good price and don't mind a short drive it shouldn't make much of a difference.
  15. I have heard several "rumors" about the down time, but have heard August, September, November, December all days. Suposedly the sheet that shows our production schedule shows us working 40 hours til the end of the year but it is tentative. I asked my committeeman and he just gave me the run around and then basically spit out the same thing that i can hear through the shitter wall. At KCAP we are on a total non logic building system, there is no rhyme or reason for what we build and why. Management lets out a production number to the workers to and then they pull out the carpet and add 30 more trucks to it. don't get me wrong I love making money and would rather just work 8 hours and get the full check, but just dont tell us that we need something only to pull it away consistantly. I mean its like a marathon runner running his 5k just as he sees the finish line ahead in the distance the race is extended a half a mile I t may not be that big of a deal to go the other half mile but when you see the end you start to get anxios. Anyhow now that i spouted off for about 5 minutes, I fully expect for us to have at least 1 week of downtime before the end of the year. If they are in fact going to give us 2 weeks off I wish they would just give us it on the back of shutdown so we could be off a month.
  16. I thought they put in a new server becasue the old one was fried by lightning. It was brocasting fine all day untill the storm came through. I am just going by what Kevin Barns told me
  17. Ever since lightning struck water test last Monday KCAP has b een on 8.5 hours for dayshift, and 9 hours on nightshift. Is any of the o ther F-150 plants working overtime? We were told by management that we will be working these hours until shut down.
  18. 87 degrees? are you kidding me? It was 97 with a heat index of 105 last Firday inKC and we didn't get anyhing. LOL. 87. Ford will do nothing to help an yone out, it's either take care of yourself or die.
  19. Over 1,000 signed the interest survey. The meetings ended tonight and they gave all the information that anyone had wanted to know out. The only thing left to do is sign on the dotted line. We will no doubt use all of the 400+ packages that will be offered at this time up. There is a high demand for them here. It is rumored that they will offer more than the 400 but do not know if it is true yet. I thought about taking the education buyout but it just makes sense to keep working here finish my last semester here, and go into a masters program while looking for a job, and then cut loose from here than leave now. I wish anyone luck who is leaving, staying or comming over. :D :D
  20. Here are a couple of Rumors that I heard today about the KCAP buyouts! 1. To this point 1,000 people have signed for the packages(not sure w hich but any of them all together. Supposesdly the company is offering 500 of the packages to the plant in total. 2. The company has told the top 100 worst workers that they better sign to get out or they will be terminated when this is all said and done. They want to weed these people out first. I doubt they could do that but it would be nice to be rid of the garbage in our plant. Once again just rumors i will let you know when details are given to us.
  21. On friday the co mpany has posted that it is taking a (non-binding) survey to determine who is interested in the packages. We have until next week to decide and then there will be further prodding after we get a number.
  22. New schedule is out and supposedly according to the computer KCAP is scheduled to go 10's starting in August for the launch but heard it won't be for long
  23. TwinCam-- i am currently selling my home in gladstone. It is about 5-10 minutes from the p lant and requires no highway travel. It is 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, finished basement, and has a new furnace and new a/c. It has a huge acre lot that is fenced in and a double tier deck that is simply beutiful. NKC has some pretty good schools as well. I am asking $125,000 but am listing to offers. I just put in new paint, new carpet, and new windows throughout the house. If you would be interested in looking at the property or i could email you some pics if you would like, email me at mckown24@yahoo.com. i hopw you find what you are looking for and will help with anything you may need help with.
