  1. There are a lot of people at Sharonville who wanted to be gone by now. Batavia is not releasing techs to come here so they can go. I am not sure of how many at Batavia want to go now.
  2. I am still waiting for you to cite a source for the $160,000 buyouts at Boeing.... :boring: :missing:
  3. That is entirely possible. 5R110W is good until 2010 but the 6R140 will be taking over in 2010. Sharonville's future depends on getting the 6R140. Without the 6R140 Sharonville is just making gears and a few converters. That is not good for many jobs. As far as the tax situation goes that doesn't matter much. They will get a deal from the state and from Hamilton county for that.
  4. No one is disputing the fact that they got rid of a bunch of people. What is in dispute is your other claim... Where can you site a source that a mass number of employees got $160,000? :blah: I am told that Sharonville is supposed to get down to 800-900 people by the time that Batavia closes. That is down from about 1300 today. There are about 2800 people total between the 2 plants today. There isn't going to be that many jobs here in 2008 anyway.
  5. What is your source for the $160,000 buyout for 60,000? Here are a bunch of articles from The Seattle Times from 2001-2002 when Mulally was at Boeing laying people off... Business & Technology: Saturday, October 13, 2001 Boeing job cuts reach deep as 5,000 here get pink slips By Kyung M. Song and Luke Timmerman Seattle Times business reporters http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/...+%22job+cuts%22 Business & Technology: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 Boeing issues 2,900 layoff notices in latest job cuts By Kyung M. Song Seattle Times aerospace reporter http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/...+%22job+cuts%22 Business & Technology: Friday, December 14, 2001 Many Boeing job cuts take effect today, and career advisers help sort options By Kyung M. Song Seattle Times aerospace reporter http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/...+%22job+cuts%22 Business & Technology: Thursday, October 17, 2002 E-mail article Print view More Boeing layoffs likely; reductions would be 'across the board' By David Bowermaster and Kyung M. Song Seattle Times aerospace reporters http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/...+%22job+cuts%22 Business & Technology: Thursday, November 21, 2002 Boeing: More job cuts necessary By Helen Jung The Associated Press http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/...+%22job+cuts%22 If you read these articles you will find no reference to any generous buyout offer. The one article that did reference money talked about the company taking a $63 million charge to cover the severance costs for about 12,000 employees. $63,000,000 divided by 12,000 is $5,250 not $160,000. Those are my sources. What are yours? :slap:
  6. I have heard it from several salary people. Bottom line is that the offer that has been put on the table is essentially the same offer that has been made at plants that are closed now. Do you think that people who don't want to come to Sharonville (for whatever reason) and are in a position to retire should take the $35,000 and run? If so, you should put some numbers on paper and see what the difference is between the salary you will receive between now and then and how much money you can get by just walking to the mailbox. You will find that the difference is not much.
  7. This was in the Batavia Committee Report in the Local 863 Transmitter... I am at Sharonville. I have heard no recommendation from our PC as to whether to go or stay. I have heard him say that he doesn't think that they offered enough to entice people to retire though.
  8. I have heard that the Plant Chairman at Batavia is telling high seniority employees not to take the buyout now because there will be a better buyout offered when the building is closed in 2008. I hope this is not true but I will not be surprized if it is. This is the same guy who went around telling the people on the floor that they awarded the 6FM transmission to Batavia but it was going to be built in Sharonville. That was a few months before it was announced that the transmission was going to VanDyke. Note to the Batavia folks. There won't be another buyout offer! One of the first things Ford's new CEO asked was why we are getting buyouts in the first place. He will be against buyouts in the future. Also, contrary to some rumours I have heard Batavia is really going to close. Ford doesn't need 4 automatic trans plants in the US. I am not sure that Sharonville is safe after 2011. The only reason that they are saying that Batavia is idled instead of closed is because the closing of Batavia will be dealt with in the 2007 contract talks. It is all a word game. If you are going to retire in 2008 when the plant closes instead of coming over to Sharonville then do it now. You will not make enough money in the next year to account for giving up the buyout money. You will be working for min wage for a year. If you don't want to retire now that's fine. I'd rather that you do for my own selfish reasons but everybody has to make their own decision based on what is best for them. Just don't believe some line about a better offer coming. :titanic:
  9. As a SHV employee I find all this bickering interesting. If and when you come to SHV you had better be ready to work and sweat (no AC here!). Ask people who came from SHV and those who are here now. You will be expected to work or you will have so many 4600's flying around you it will make your head spin. You may think you have a weak union there. Wait tilll you get here! I think I will sign up for the buyout then take stock of the situation (number above and below me) and make my final decision. This is like a game of musical chairs. There had better be enough SHV employees under me to absorb the BTV wave. If I am anywhere close then I am jumping out of the game before the music stops and there isn't a chair to sit down. :rip:
  10. I hired in in 1998 @ SHV. We just laid off about 100. The youngest person in the building is 11/15/1999. I am worried that I won't make it and I doubt anyone with less than 1998 seniority would. That is why I am leaning toward the education buyout right now. Some things for Sharonville and Batavia people to think about... -5R110W production goes thru 2010 or 2011 -4R75 converter business will be reduced as more models get the 6R -we have not guarantee of getting the 6R140 business -the 6R and 6F gear equipment is on isolation pads with the wheels still attached -we have a lot of old timers who don't want to retire (I don't blame them...that's just the way it is) I'd love to stay but I think the writing is on the wall.
  11. I have 8 years at SHV transmission. I have no idea what to do. I may get bumped out when Batavia closes (we have the same local). If enough retire I'll be safe till they close us down in 2011. I am already going to school so if I take the buyout that is what I'll do.
  12. If SHV doesn't get the 5R110W replacement then there will be big cuts in Ohio in 2011. That tranny may go to Mexico! By 2011 Batavia will be gone and SHV will be making nothing but gears (2 employees manning 2 million sq feet).
  13. They are cutting out a shift of the 5R110W tranny at Sharonville Trans plant. Imagine what that means to KTP. We are being told this is a permanent cut! Dayshift is out for 2 weeks starting today and they come back for a week then they cut out afternoon shift on 9/11/06.
