  1. Again you still are missing the point but apparently it is never going to get through to you. Yes I'm sure you take a lot of crap from everyone and your job is tough. But your job is also to show respect and representation to ALL UAW members regardless of how many years they have. Part of being elected is playing a politician correct? This guy posts his seniority date and full name and you threated to go pull his file? That is the part that is not professional. Everyone there is trying to provide the best living for their family. So the guy who started at 45 with 5 years is apparently not made available the same representation from you as the guy who has 20 years in at 45??
  2. I honestly hope you are not a Dist. Rep! If so you are just sooooo professional with a calm demeanor for your UAW members! Everyone is going to disagree on this subject, but I don't think you need 20 years "seniority" to have an opinion. "grow some seniority and then we will talk!" Thats a great line there, My understanding is that you could not choose who you represent and you do not have a choice but to represent both deadbeats and hard workers with 1-50 years seniority?
  3. Imawhosure great post! Like always I agree with you! Although I don't have as many years in as most of you, I have learned a key to being a Ford Employee, and that is Mediocrity is the highest expectation of all us. Do not try to overachieve because it will get you nowhere. I've never been to medical and have not had a bathroom break in 5 years, I come to work every day, but always get stuck on jobs that no one wants to do. I don't complain, but it does get frustrating when you see four people sitting at the picnic table begging to do 3.9 or a half dozen people sweeping in the aisle making the same pay as you. Or another great example I saw right before theis latest layoff... A person we would all consider a deadbeat, was doing a half ass job on a containment. When a boss asked if she could check if another plug was in, she went to medical and told Health and Safety she smelled a gas odor. Before you know it 10 yellow vests were down there! Hell when my wife went into labor she couldn't get a hold of anybody to get me out of there! Sorry to vent guys! I know you have all seen it also! When I signed up for the buyout this past week I was told a list would be posted in December with a list of everybody's name and date of departure. Is this the process at other plants?
  4. Wow this is the post of the week Methos! I agree with everything 100% Best of luck to you in the future!
  5. So now I'm a chump for expressing my opinion lol. Very mature buddy. I would like to hope that the people on here are all focused on the same thing, and this is a true compassion for their job. People who are deadbeats do not take the time to post on here let alone read anything. However, I think it's very important to scroll back up and read Calvin's post about your own plant. It is true I only have 7 years in but I do have many family members who have retired from Ford. Like I mentioned I am leaving, and only wish Ford turns this thing around and everybody that wants a job will have a job. I don't know how many comapnies can lose almost 6 billion in a quarter and continue to survive unless old practices from Ford and the UAW are modified.
  6. Good point, I signed up for a buyout anyways so if it ever gets here I won't be around to vote. Just putting my own two cents in on the subject. We all know that both company and union has to change to stay alive today, the question is how much change will we allow to happen? I came from a plant that closed, so I know the fear of giving in and then getting screwed over.
  7. My #1 priority in my life is my family. So spending three days a week with them instead of two is a dream come true. Helping the company save money and turn the ship around in any way would only benefit all of us. I do not need overtime to pay my bills 40hrs is perfectly fine with me.
  8. My wife graduated last year with her associates RN and started at 50-55k with as much overtime as she wants. But the downside of the career is that her and I will be working holidays, weekends, and swing shifts. So I will definitely miss the Christmas Break! LPN's start at around 30k. If for some reason 10 years from now I don't have a job I'll just continue to educate myself. I just wish the best of luck to whatever decision everybody makes.
  9. Thanks! Now on to the Gaylord Faulker jokes! LOL!
  10. This is what my degree is in...maybe it's not the typical white collar but it is in demand everywhere in this country. http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouts...;choosesignup=0
  11. I found that funny also. I emailed the reporter and told him he had some inaccurate information on that story. There is also no mention of the people that have been laid off with more to come this Fall. If Ford has to get rid of 30k employees I'm sure they will find a way.
  12. CUT THAT CHECK! CUT THAT CHECK! :bandance: :bandance: :bandance:
  13. Imawhosure, you are correct and I guess I was just excited to see our local communicating with us. So I'll take the link down out of respect for our local.

  15. Very good post, I agree with you on a lot of things. I for one want a buyout. I have spent years in school and am thankful for ETAP. I've been through one plant closing and am ready to move on with my life. My wife also works and has great insurance. Although like you said a lot of people who are not prepared will have a hard time going to a job where the pay is cut in half. A lot of people have a bad taste in their mouth because they have been burned by the union. Whether it has been bad information about a subject ,only allowing so many buyouts or just a bad expereience with their local rep. However I am very thankful for what are union brothers and sisters have worked so hard to bargain for us today. I wish the best of luck to you my brother in the future!
