  1. Thank you. Now I need to find my book.
  2. Kinda what we were thinking also. Just wanted to see the language in the contract. Thanks.
  3. My dad was offered to take a voluntary lay-off and he agreed. Then they came back later and told him he couldn't have it and that they were going to lay-off low seniority instead. Can they do this since they asked him already? Also, I thought whenever there was a voluntary lay-off, they had to ask high-seniority first? What is the actual language on this? Thanks.
  4. SO GLAD I AM OUT OF THERE! :happy feet:
  5. That will look like 200 other trucks we build that day. We will build it right....
  6. They changed my huband's date to May 1st... :happy feet:
  7. My husband was told July 1st! He is an extra man on his team, and they are holding him that long! Ridiculous....
  8. My husband signed up yesterday. He works at DTP.
  9. My husband is considering the buyout. For those who took it: Did they tell you your last day? How soon did you get your buyout check, we are doing the 100K? From what I'm reading you can apply for unemployment? Thanks so much Ronniemom
  10. Heres the question though how do you make a decision about a buyout without knowing what is going to happen to the MTP plant. My husband only has 10 years so for all intents and purposes everyone seems to say take the buyout. But you have two problems one he takes the buyout and can pay off some of our debt and he goes out and gets another job for less money and we have to pay for insurance and we have lag time where only I am bringing in money. Then only we find out he would have been fine if he would have stayed on. Or he stays on the plant closes and there is a change in the contract and and suddenly statement "nobody will be involuntarly seperated" won't matter. I guess my question is will GEN survive the next contract? Even if it does how long will someone be allowed to stay on GEN? Maybe just long enough for the next contract and you be out and missed out on taking the buyout when you could have? It just seems to me that when you try to talk to someone management, union or otherwise no one can give you any advise about what a person should do. We have to make a decision by November but they are already telling you that there will be more closing after January? So its a crap shoot and making a person have to make a life-altering decision with little or no information. It would be nice for a union person to say well we are going to fight for GEN in the next contract HARD because we know alot of guys are going to be in it. Also when looking up GEN I found this article http://biz.yahoo.com/e/060125/f8-k.html on the Ford SEC filing it already looks like they plan on having alot of people in GEN and "reviewing costs relating to the guaranteed employment numbers ("GEN") provision of our collective bargaining agreement". So it sounds like it is going to be a contract issue as of 2007. This whole thing just seems so poorly planned and excuted. Sorry to ramble I am just so upset and confused and frankly have NO idea what to do. Its not like you expect lifetime employment and or benefits, just some help in making a very hard decision that will affect the rest of you and your families life.
