  1. When I had to reset mine, I had to call the help desk . I called from labor relations. Help desk gives you half of the new password and the other half is given to a designated salary person.(In my

case It was the woman in labor relations). It didn't take too long to do. The longest part is sitting on hold on the phone. I did it about half hour before B crew shift start.

    Hope this helped you .

    Good luck!

  2. "Ford has always played games" well, I guess you can call it that. Ford is in business to do one thing and only one thing.... Show a Profit. Yes Ford has become very good at one thing over the last 70 or 80 years and that is, controling the business (IUAW) that Ford purchases all its labor from.

70 to 80 years ago a group of people stood together and fought for a number of things the laborer`s at the different plants in Detroit needed to become safe on the job, have a life outside of the plant, provide for their families on a middle class level and the right of choice. The group of people became the IUAW a very trusted organization. (then) The labor organization fought and won the right to work in a safe environment, wages that grew to help build the American middle class and this family orientated organization fought and fought for the right of choice when it came to overtime. If Ford needed to buy extra labor, the organization (not a business partner) made it clear that the time after the first eight hours in any day and after the fifth day of any work schedule would be purchased at a premium.

What the HELL happened to the IUAW....??

My opinion and only my opinion. I can think of two situations that may have been the writing on the wall.

First, Henry fought the UAW and stated on many occasions he would never have the Union in his buildings. Ford was the last to be organized. Then Henry released a statement, "I will control the union by doing as I do with all other business partners", "I will give the elected union officials Executive Privilege".

Like most business partners the union officials come and go without any concern of the time clock. Office space, phone privileges, company supplies and in some buildings free meals. Now today stop and think of some of these business partner benefits. Why you may wonder, is the "word" so often mentioned when Ford and the IUAW Ford Department are working together on just about anything? The word is Relationship.... Yep, good Business Relationships produce successful, rewarding and profitable business.... For the business PARTNERS.

The second situation, does anyone really think that the Reuthers or any other leaders in our Labor Organization, would have ever imagined how their organization would be transform in to a large business entity. Sitting on the Board of Directors of one of The Big Three, becoming part owners of Chrysler LLC, controling over a Billion Dollars in assets, control and adminiester multi Billion Dollar insurance corperation.(VEBA) (a second attempt but, first in the Auto Indust.)

Once again, my opinion. I believe my Union was taught very well by a business genius (Ford Motor Co.) and over the years has become a very ruthless business partner. Ford is buying and the IUAW is selling what they need to reach Fords one and only reason for existence. Profit.

How things have come full circle. The only difference from way back then, the Reuthers only had the company to contend with. We on the other hand have a multi billion dollar vender to contend with and the venders business partner, Ford Motor Co.

Ok, bring on the go and quit shit, CC. As far as bringing anyone down, really??? have you talked with any Trades members that have had their schedules change two or three times in the last month? Or maybe walk through the Trim or Chassis Department lately? Maybe take a walk through Pre-Delivery where starting times are a topic of discussion everyday? That look on so many faces is as down as I`ve seen since we went to one shift.

CandyCane in all due respect, a "downer" is watching members that have to do whatever Ford wants (even if it makes NO sence) and their business partner doing very little to support the membership to their right of choose. Do you know any members that have had to choose between the Little League Game, Dad`s weekend or an R&W because Saturday`s are manditory?

    Excellent post !!!

  3. Turn about is fair play!, if ya helped us, we'd help us and you too...stick up for us!, treat us fair! Don't come back with if ya dont' like it quit stuff again. Do you want to polarize the work force? Keep up with that reaction and you'll know what will happen!

Stop with the us and them crap...and the leaders have all ready sent the message more temps all around! So sticking up for us will be sticking up for your best interests...

Well, maybe we would help you, BUT...

Your whole post above makes you sound like an ignorant THUG!! But you expect that we should stick up for you?!?

You are a TEMP. Short for TEMPORARY. That means NOT PERMANENT.

They could use/ yank you around/ get rid of you when and however they want.

  4. everything depends on the manpower needs for that plant.....usually a temp is just there for a special reason and once that reason is over they are gone..Cause temps are not part of the plants headcount number......

Temps AND flowbacks are part of the headcount number at TCAP.

About a year ago, all Temps there had a chance to hire in as a full time employee if they took a cut in pay.

  5. Hopefully you don't feel I am patronizing you here. I was raised on the tales of Uncle Remus and Joel Chandler Harris. I may have assumed he was more popular than I realized.

In case you have not read the tale of the Tar Baby and Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Fox. Br'er Rabbit is using reverse psychology in hopes he WILL be thrown into the briars. He' actually from the briar patch and is quite comfortable there. Br'er Fox hopes it will injure Br'er Rabbit and cut him up if he is thrown in them.

If you are not from the South, and even if you are, the dialect may prove to be difficult to read. Remember these tales were written during the post-Civil War era as told by "Uncle Remus", a former slave in the South.

Again, props to Joel Chandler Harris.

No, I don't feel patronized. I had heard the story of Brer Rabbit, however, it was a LONG time ago! Thanks for reminding me. Now i understand.

I found it odd that anyone would think KY Truck/LAP would be a bad place.

  6. If current JSP employees will have one shot at placement, and it is open to all plants, then how will Ford deal with tpt's? At our plant, which is scheduled to close maybe in 2011, we have roughly 250 full timers and 600 temporaries. Will someone in JSP be offered to come to our plant and replace a temp for 2 years? I assume that there are plenty of temps at other plants as well. So, how will this all play out?

I think that maybe there will be some changes to JSP, but not eliminated? I guess we'll wait and see.

According to the union our plant will NOT bring in people from JSP because we are still supposed to close.

(At least that is what union said before this current lay off). A lot of us were wondering why though, because if they offer placement at ALL plants, we are A PLANT (at least for now), and one with ALOT of temps and flowbacks.

Of course, like always, this is subject to change!

  7. Sub credits were credits that were given to all blue collar workers prior to 1990. These credits would max out once a worker got a certain amount. When you get laid off you would be paid SUB based off of your credits. In the late 70's early 80's Ford was paying 1 weeks pay for 1 SUB credit. When the SUB fund got low they raised the number of credits taken for each weeks pay, like 4 credits for a weeks pay. When SUB ran out of money which it did, workers didnt get any money from Ford. The problem was no buyouts were offered and the low seniority employees laid off drew most of the money, when the higher seniority employees who were laid off later in the down cycle started to draw SUB money the pot was empty. The same could happen today if the buyouts were not offered. But the last few contracts gave workers job security that would put them in GEN after 46 weeks of SUB. Now JSP only provides up to 2 offers or 2 years of income in the event of a layoff. Hopefully if JSP is set aside, our union can get SUB paid for laid off workers until they are offered a transfer. At one time SUB fund had close to $1 billion and I am sure there is still hundreds of millions in the pot.

Wow! Yeah, that was before my time... Thank you for explaining it!

  8. Critic...........You hit the nail on the head>>>> very little people do NOT even know about the sub credits being disclosed on your paycheck, sub credits as I recall....STOPPED being printed on our paychecks I would like to esttimate somewhere in the timeline of the early 1989-1990, the change came when the company went from having the paychecks having a "clear" window showing our name and the FORD logo printed all over the paycheck on the outside. Damn!!! They are setting us all up to get unemployment, then weeks later, ......the sub fund has dried out. And so will our asses be.........SOL.
  9. Yes they belonged to Visteon which Local 249 represents. Those employees had the option of a buyout, transfer with their work to MI, or tranfer to KCAP. The majority of them took the tranfer to KCAP. I heard the number was 67 but don't quote me on that. We did also have a parts depot in KS that closed sometime ago. I'm not sure if there is anyone left over there or not. We did get a few of there employees at KCAP a year or two ago. As far as TCAP coming to KCAP I wish you all the best. I think there might be a few left at SLAP that are waiting to come. I know that is true for the trades just not sure about production. I'm not sure who they would bring first (TCAP or SLAP). It's one of those top secret things that only certain people are allowed to know about. I'm still alive so I guess I don't know yet.

Yeah, folks are wondering why people who were at Visteon get transferred first. They thought we would first because

of us closing. Everyone transferring is anxious to get down there as soon as yesterday. But, yes, everything is TOP

SECRET for sure. Hope it all works out for everyone! Good Luck! We all need it...

  10. Hey Smokey Paw- I am one of the first grp. to get the exiting buyout, but I was one of the last ones to sign up to come back for temporary employment and the book was pretty empty for signatures....... I talked to someone inside that gave me the number of COMEBACKS I'll call them as 2 hundred something from a Union rep and that is including the people still working on the line so ( No where near your statement of "Almost everyone who took the buyout has signed up to come back") from what I was told last week in the Chassis zone there were 80 some extra's over what was needed to run and they went back to the line and started to ask if they wanted to leave and they could have left right there and then..... Most waited for Weeks end.

When I was there still the rumor was 800 and 400 were open jobs to transfer too But I don't remember which number went to what plant. Kentucky and Kansas respectively.

Sorry, I should have been more specific...everyone i have talked to has signed up to come back. Someone who signed

up said the list was long. But you know how everyone talks B.S. right? The latest I hear now is 500 openings at KCAP.

  11. We all wish we knew for sure. The facts right now are that we are hiring TFT employees to replace the ones whom take the buy out packages. We are also being told that they do not plan on replacing skilled employees on a one for one. Instead they are going to reduce the amount of each classification. At this point in time we are still not sure how far they are going to reduce each classification. Whe at TCAP is telling you folks that you are going to be offered transfers? Just curious because last I had heard they had put a freeze on all transfers. That's why the last few folks at Atlanta are so upset about. Good luck to everyone regardless of what they decide.

Our Union has said , anyone who wants a transfer should be ready to go in the next few weeks.

They won't say where though. Some people from our plant have already gone down to KCAP to check things

out, however, they were not allowed in the plant.

I haven't heard about any freeze on transfers, but, we at TCAP have a freeze on hiring temps. Almost everyone

who took the buyout has signed up to come back. Not all of the buyout people have been let go yet. So who knows...

Everyone is getting TENSE thats for sure!!!

  12. That's been in the rumour mill here for a while. I hope it's true for you, KC has been a blessing for my family and I since we got here (SLAP). If I hear of anything I will post it here for you, I'm not 'in the know' by ANY means, but what i hear I'll try to help. God Bless TCAP!

    Thank You!! Anything helps!

  13. Anyone know for sure? At TCAP we have been told that KCAP has 600 openings for us to transfer. We have been

told,"Those who want to transfer will go SOMEWHERE", but everyone thinks it's Kansas City. It would be nice to know since some of us need to make plans for that to happen. Anyone have any info?
