  1. Does anybody know anything about are new plant manager?, I heard he came from 2 Ford plants that ford shut down. Also he was one of Ford top Lean Manufacturing guys and he came here to lean out Oakville, and cut jobs.
  2. Aloha there is not 4000 members,also this was one of the biggest turn outs we've had as a local in a long time. The people who show up to vote is how you figure out the % . If you didn't show up I guess you don't care and you loose your right to question the vote. This vote is sending a message to our leadership, because in past ratification we voted 95% in favour of what they negotiated, So turning it down was a wake up call for our local leadership and the national," if they care what their menbers are saying or thinking!!" That's the first time i've seen that many members that animated and upset with a contact and you know over the last few years we've open out the contract countless times.
  3. Trim: Did you read what I said, We have already been shown democracy and hopfully we continue to evolve it. The U.N. is trying to help other countries around the world to implement it. Trim go to this Web sight so you may educate yourself on the rights of the people and the privileges of corproations {businesses}. google " now corproations claim the right to lie" Definition of Communism A totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarain party controls the state and the elimination of private property. Definition of Democracy Government by the people, rule by majority. A government in which the supreme power is vested in we the people and excerised by them directly through a system of representation involving free elections. Your theory about the labour shortage and wages is ridiculous, the corporate feudal lords have taken care of that with globalization. We will never have a labour shortage because the corproations have out sourced many of the good paying jobs , and they are working their way up the ladder to the middle class US. They are eliminating the demand, so there is know need for supply, until we all will work for a bowl of rice. The jobs you are talking about are going to China, India, Korea etc...but of course their will be lots of $10.00 hour jobs just like in the U.S.A.{ WalMart }like you said 10years ahead. The labour shortage; they took care of that also with the changing of some of the immigration policies. Did you know that some corproations bring in labour from other counties and they are not allowed to work for anyone else.They cann't better themselves or educate themselves and if the business does want them anymore or they don't do what they are told { slavery} they just ship them back no question asked. MAPLELEAF FOODS DOES THIS. That $2200 bonus you are talking about came from your left pocket to your right pocket { the shell game}. The CAW took your last 1\2 hour premium at the end of the shift on the flex agreement, no breaks and no premium. CAW and Buzz dangling the gold carrot $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and everybody gobbles it up. Also I forgot the most important group that misrepresented us, our local barganing masturbators, they shoved it to their 707 members like a rendered mule. They took $8.50 a day $42.50 a week that's $2200 a year their's your bonus, if you have 10 years to go to retirement that's $ 22,000.00 and that's with no cola or wage increases. This is not a signing bonus it's a quality,production bonus their is a big difference.
  4. Classical Economics It's the spending of money by working people that creates consumer demand. Comsumer demand in turn creates busniess opportunties, and that creates jobs. We the people are the government. We make the laws so business can function with in our society in a responsible and financial equable way, not the other way around. We the people create and regulate the rules of the game of business. Business don't have rights they have privileges to function with in the parameters we set for them. What you are discribing is not Democracy it's Corporatocracy Trim: Those points I made are some of the basics rule of democracy that the United Nations are trying to instill around the world. They are following the North American model of democracy and the teaching of great people like Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, F.D.R. ect...
  5. Foxrun I couldn't have said it better. The working class has to stop fighting amongst themselves for the little pieces of crumbs, that is what the wealthy right wing neo cons want us to do.We need a grass roots union movement that brings all the working class people together. We need to educate and inform them but most of all the union has to gain, no correction earn their trust and respect back. That is where i think Buzz Hargrove has gone wrong over his last 15 years , he has approached the government like business does, lobbying a few government officials to get his agenda through { not very successful, very short termed}. Buzz should have tried to construct a grass roots union movement from the working class up, bringing all of us together to work to a common goal. Through the voting numbers we can take back our country from the right winged ultar rich neo cons and bring social equality back to our working class people. We have the voting demographics on our side, but we just don't get out and vote. That is how the wealthy get their agenda pushed through all the time. If we unite together we can make change! Divide and conquer {the working class} Control the media {no freedom of speech, weathly corprorate agendas brain wash our youth, rich own the media} Control the wealth { W.T.O. money and power in the hands of the few} Governments and Politicians {buy them with political campaign contributions etc...} All of the above are in direct conflict with what democracy was bulit on, but that is what the ultar rich are exactly doing, we all have wake up. One by one we can all make a difference { Rome was not built in a day}
  6. Sparkly We need fair trade not free trade, we are in a race to the bottom. It's Toyota today and China tomorrow and there is know end insight. It will never be the now because it will always be tomorrow. {Do I say political revolution ?} What's it called when government and business are making all the rules--- Fascism
  7. Sparky I was being sarcastic ,I haven't missed a ratification vote in 25 years. Also, so everyone knows you do not get your relief at the end of the shift or any other time during the shift either, it is gone forever and you will be a slave to the line you dogs. Get the kitty littler box and the bottle to pee in ready!!! But don't worry your local bargaining will change your diapers, take and empty your bottle and pooper scoop the kitty littler for you. These guys haven't worked on the assembly line in 20 years, lets see how they would do lifting mufflers over their heads for 8 hours a day. They are out of touch with the workers, they have forgot how degrading it is to cross your legs and wait to go to the wash room. {a basic human right} shame shame
  8. We now have to work 8hrs with no premium for the last half hour, so we now loose $ 8.50 a day in overtime, that's $42.50 a week , 52 weeks that's $2200 a year. I quess that's where they got that $2200 bonus from, we paid for it ourselves out of our own pockets. Good job local barganing commitee you guys play the shell game as good as the National , I bet you all lined up to KISS Buzz's ass to!!!!! that would be the easiest thing to do. You all TURTLED!!!!
  9. Trimdingman you are a humorous guy,you make it interesting to come to this fourm. You have missed your calling; Eddie Murphy has nothing on you. When you do retire please let me know I will pay to come and see you on stage doing your stand up routine or in your case laying down with your feminist witches.
  10. Sparky touche' I like the way you think the better of these people, you are definitely a half glass full kind of guy. I guess I'm skewed by all the years of manipulation and dishonesty I seen. But we have to remember there is billions of dollars at stake with the company and the union. Also I didn't incriminate are local in my theory just the National, they hold the ultimate authority when it come to offering buyout. Lets wait and see how long they wait to announce the packages after their recall rights runs out, I bet before the end of the year or sooner. Also you are right on the money, these people shouldn't wait for Ford to call them back, get out their and make a better life for yourself. Education is the key to controling your own providence.
  11. Beast, I don't mean to be disrespectful but i can't follow your rejoinder could you explain in more detail. thank you
  12. Sparky, I always enjoy your posts, you give some excellent information. Maybe you can help me. Is the 142 employees rights a local issue or a National? In the past of course we never manipulated or worked around the issues to help our local members.Over the past few years we have changed this gray revolving collective agreemnet so many times it makes your head spin. I will think about an amendment but it will probably be broken or changed anyway. Sparky, I'm just being facetious, I do agree we should follow the contact but these members see it being misrepresented or distorted all the time and now they think what about me, you can't blame them. The point I was trying to make, if they know they are going to offer buyouts and are just holding off till their recall rights run out and it is premeditated so the national can offer these openings to other locals, I think that is inappropriate! It will smell really fishy if that happens. Always a pleasure and educational reading your posts have a great weekend.
  13. Sparky in the past we always fought to bring back OUR 707 members first, this is their local not STAP, Windsor, or Buzz's. Is this egalitarianism for the 142 707 members I too want everyone back to work just like you,but I would expect my local 707 union to fight for me first. The National has their own agenda and that is SURVIAL. I think the National Union has already negotiated something behind the scenes to protect the senior workers from other locations.It wouldn't surprise me as soon as or shortly after the 142 recall rights run out, they will announce the buyouts for the senior workers. This will save the National from any legal action or reprisals from these employees. {O.L.R.B.} Remember it will take the company months before the buyouts are ready, so they will have to get the baLL rolling now and the National knows this. It would be a shame especially when we negotiated the flex agreement and these Oakville employees voted on it. They were under the assumption they would be back to work building Freestars, MKX and Edges on three shifts with 4,000 people employed at this site. Now,the rug has been pulled out from under their feet.Consequences of Ford breaking the contract over and over will cost these laid off employees their jobs to other locations. C.S.I. will have to investigate-- or this might be my silly conspiracy theory??
