  1. So, GM has put the Buick Regal in an ad for GM North America. The Regal is listed as a "concept." This is the first GM has done to fuel speculation that the Chinese Regal is coming here. http://www.thegmsource.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6516

  3. Ford got wind of a Roush Silverado in the works and apparently put an abrupt stop to Roush' plans! http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ..._articleid=1092
  4. Not quite. G8 is going to Canada to join the Camaro. Now - I'm not going to justify Pontiac as Solstice and G8. Not at all. But, I will say this: There's a powerful side to the electrification of the automobile. It's not all about MPG when it comes to electric cars. Battery powered cars have an insane amount of power when needed.
  5. It's not getting any better for the G8 exports as the year goes on. I wrote this a few weeks back. http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ..._articleid=1060
  6. This isn't true. Chevy wouldn't offer a Solstice like vehicle - they have the Corvette. Even if the price point is Corvette 40k, Solstice like Chevy car 25k, they wouldn't put two vehicles that are basically identical on the same showroom floor. Call me crazy, but I, like others prefer the looks of the Solstice over a 'Vette. The Pontiac G8 is for all intents what the Chevy Impala would be, but GM's not willing to take the Impala RWD. So, again....Pontiac has the G8 to satisfy those GM buyers that want a rear-wheel-drive sedan that has a competitive price that isn't the Cadillac CTS sedan. Pontiac very much has a purpose within General Motors, as a separate brand in the B-P-G channel, just like Jim Hopson said they do. Not as a rebadged brand that will be sold in Chevy dealerships like some of the "bigger" publications have slapped Pontiac with.
  7. Sure there is. The talk that "Pontiac is Dead" is ridiculous. In fact, I saw a segment on Pontiac called "End Of The Line" on NBC Nightly News. The picture being painted by mainstream media is that Pontiac is a dead brand. Hell, The New York Times today said that Pontiac was no longer a separate brand at GM!
  8. I had the opportunity to go one on one with Pontiacs' Jim Hopson regarding the brands future. Read my short interview with Mr. Hopson below. We will have additional coverage on the future of Pontiac, however these are the most pressing questions I feel needed to be addressed ASAP. Including, is Pontiac as a dead brand at GM? http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ..._articleid=1082
  9. The White House said this evening (Monday) that it will give GM the remaining $4 billion it has requested, well before it receives GM's viability plan on Tuesday afternoon. http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ..._articleid=1072
  10. You know what, I screwed up. The driver is on the RIGHT side of the car *the type that we have here in the U.S.* I don't know what I was thinking - but yes, the driver was on the traditional side that one would be on here in America. Sorry - it's been a long day for various reasons.
  11. That was a typo that has since been edited. The vehicle was a LHD model. All apologies.
  12. Actually - I was quite surprised when I saw it in person. When I noticed it in my rearview mirror I thought "new Taurus, and it looks nice!!" then I noticed the profile of the wagon, and sure enough it was the Mondeo TDCi. Not bad looking in person at all.

  15. But they have since moved on to talking with GAZ.
  16. You do realize the "Classic" is fleet only, and not for consumer purchase. Thanks, drive through.

  18. TheGMSource - The UAW has sents its members on strike. More than 73,000 active GM employees at 59 plants in the United States have been ordered to walk off their jobs and pick up picket signs. The UAW is on strike. http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ...2_articleid=646
  19. Previous reports have indicated that the 2007 GM/UAW contract talks are to begin this Friday. Those reports are false. This Monday at 9:00am the official press conference will be held between UAW and GM officials. GM CEO G. Richard Wagoner, Troy Clarke and UAW President Ron Gettelfinger are all expected to be on hand at the UAW Solidarity House located on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Detroit. We're currently working on plans to attend the press conference and hope to bring you live notes after the conference is held. |MORE|
  20. GM's initial goal of selling 1,000 Volts by the end of the decade hinges on developing a reliable, long-lasting battery. If that target is met, the largest U.S. automaker expects to sell 1 million within five years to make the model profitable. http://www.chevyvoltforum.com/index.php?showtopic=103
  21. Over the next 12 months, researchers from, Compact Power, Continental Automotive Systems and GM will be testing the battery-pack designs in the lab and in vehicles to confirm that the packs can work for the life of the car--at least 10 years, says Denise Gray, director of hybrid energy storage devices at GM. Initial tests of individual battery cells, along with projections about the performance of battery packs that can contain hundreds of these cells, have Gray optimistic that her company will have proven packs by June 2008. http://www.chevyvoltforum.com/index.php?showtopic=83
  22. They have already pulled the plug on the Aspen. It won't be around for the 2008 model year.
