  1. Although I'm sure I can make a reasonably accurate guess, can you explain why black leather is only available on the Limited model in the Explorer line? Would it cause injury, death or be such a big deal to build a different model of Explorer with black leather? Eddie Bauer always tan? What about the optional Moss with Camel Prefered Suede? Or were you just talking about the Expedition?
  2. Well, I think they should share it with us. Then I won't have to worry about paying for that new Ford. :happy feet:
  3. You can probably kiss your interior choice goodby. It seems that Ford builds what Ford wants. I wanted an Eddie Bauer Explorer with black leather but was told NO! Good thing Ford doesn't sell shoes, God knows what color they'd have us wearing. The $563 is an advertising fee . As I've been informed on this forum, you cannot be charged this fee if you're on the X-plan. Curiously, the "Invoice" I was shown at a dealer had this fee "included." When I asked the salesman about it, he claimed to have had little experience doing X-plan deals. WTF is that? Maybe he made a mistake on the BS invoices they crank out at will? Be careful, watch those numbers and good luck. Isn't buying a new vehicle...fun?
  4. Seems like an awful lot of work and money to do this...why?
  5. I believe that a TSB has been issued that covers/corrects the symptoms you are describing. As much as I've heard about it is that the dealer can reprogram the computer that controls trans shift points and, if needs be, replace a valve body within the trans. You may not have a lemon law in Canada, but I assume you do have laws that protect consumer rights. If you don't known what they are, consult a local attorney. Also, you can call, email and write to Ford. Why not ask for the name and telephone number of the regional rep and call him/her directly to discuss this issue? However, first go back to the dealer and calmly express your concerns. Going off half cocked will get you nowhere. After all, the people who have the power to help you didn't cause the problem and don't deserve to be blamed for it. It is in the best interest of Ford and their dealers to make you happy and not turn you into a Ford basher or litigant. Have you tried visting a different dealer? Sometimes a different dealer will work harder to please you as a way of getting your business. Why not do a search on this forum and the Inet regarding transmission concerns and TSB's issued to correct them. Gather up copies of all the info you retrived and pay a friendly visit to the dealer. Best of luck. Please keep us posted.
  6. Does anyone know what colors will be available for the 2008 Explorer? Also, has the Dark Stone color been discontinued? Ford is being really secretive about the 08.
  7. I'm currently looking at two Explorer Limiteds, each sticker shows Job 2. At any rate, the chrome clad aluminum wheels (now standard on the Limited) are on each sticker. So the question is, does Ford credit the dealer when it makes an option standard? I guess I'm confused by the whole thing because each sticker shows a charge of $450.00 for the chromes, but one shows a $120.00 credit.
  8. If you want to void the warranty and kill yourself by altering suspension geometry, I say go for it.
  9. Most people are under the false assumption that each vehicle manufacturer produces all the parts that go into their cars. As we all know, there aren't that many companies that make the various components. Even if there were, mortals make the parts from materials found here on earth. No vehicle or its parts are prone to last forever, without failure. With that being said, people are also under the false assumption that foreign built cars are somehow superior. When most first hit our shores, they were inferior and ugly. In order to compete, styling, quality, and marketing savy were improved. However, the tide is turning. Look at MB for example, their cars come in dead last for reliability. In talking to mechanics at local dealers, they subtantiate this. So much for paying a hefty sum for a foreign car. I'm sticking with Ford.
  10. Any word on what changes, if any, for the 2008 Explorers?
  11. I thought the same thing. Personally, I like the top one better. Is it true that these skins are glued on and you have to replace the whole wheel if you damage one?
  12. Something else comes to mind. If you accidentally trash a skin, it's cheaper to replace than a chromed metal rim.
  13. Are we talking real chromed rims or chromed plastic skins for that $750.00?
  14. I'm no expert, but I'd say maybe there was a price increase. This seems to be the case on the Ford build and search site, too. As far as I know, the all weather mats are a cut above the standard ones.
  15. I've read discussions about your exact problem on several forums. Although you're not the only one having this problem, I know that's little consolation. Doesn't your state (I assume you live in the US) have a lemon law? Where I live, the dealer gets three trys to make the repair. If a repair cannot be made on the third attempt, the manufacturer has to take the vehicle back. In your case, it sounds like your getting the run around. I've owned many Ford products over the years and they have been trouble free. Be understanding and don't blame Ford for a problem with a part they didn't make. However, do blame them if they don't resolve the problem to your satisfaction. Since I'm in the process of purchasing an Exlporer with the V-8, I'm very concerned about a potential problem with that vehicles 6 speed trans. I hope someone here can help to find a resolution.
  16. Does anyone have information about the 2008 Exlporers? Specifically, what colors and options will be available (aside from Sync and Sony sound systems) and what incentives may be offered. Been looking at existing 07's but not ruling out an 08. I've heard that orders for the 08 start in May. Thanks, Dave
