  1. No VIN. I called the VOPC and they confirm a reciept date of 6/18 but no scheduled date and no serialization.
  2. Isn't that a big dose of reality!! I had gambled that I would be able to order one - we a certain color/option combo optioned - before one arrived at a dealer. Now why can't the dealer be more realistic? I know... I know... they don't wan't to lose a sale. I will make a mental note - thanks.
  3. Did you gently prod the dealer to find out where the hold up was? Who is holding up the order??? It's a sure sale as I am just waiting with the $$$. From what I read, priority "10" orders are put ahead of stock orders. I would be less patient if the dealership was filling up with Tauruses (they don't have any yet). I have never ordered a car before so this is new to me. I sure would like to find out where the order is held up.
  4. Reiciept date for my 2008 Taurus was 6/18. It has been 6+ weeks without further progress on our order. Is this more a matter than it is held up by regional, dealer allotment, or factory schedules/issues? My wife and I really want our Taurus!
  5. On Monday, 7-29, it will be six weeks since the receipt date (6-18) of our order for a new Taurus. Is it unusual for it to take this long to get to the serialized stage? When we ordered it, the sales manager did call Ford to make sure that we did not order any options that would cause a delay in build. Can you comment on this please? Thanks!
  6. Absolutely not taking away anything... the Fusion is a great car. Perhap I didn't get all of my thought out. For our families needs and price range, nothing came close for us. The Fusion is sportier but didn't have the room we desired. I like the "dual" exhaust too.
  7. That another thing. Once you see all the room inside, nothing else compares.
  8. You mentioned a few other reasons that I wanted one... back seat passengers... our 9 and 12 year old daughters. The visibility is impressive. I sat behind the wheel of a 300, Magnum and Charger and I couldn't see out them! I hear the 3.5 is sweet but not too thirsty. The new Taurus... or should I say my wife's new Taurus (she's been very patient with me since telling her in '05 that I wanted to wait for the '08) and at 45, will be only our second new car so it is a really big deal for us. Our first and only new car was our '94 Taurus GL whose only options were A/C and rear window defroster. This time my wife wants some of the feature she did not have such as power windows and locks. Since there were no Tauruses to be found in western Washington we ordered it and it should make the both of us happy. It is an AWD Limited with power moonroof, 18" chrome wheels, Limited Convenience Package, Advance Trac ESC and Navigation. Maps are far cheaper but I strayed from my usual conservative nature and ordered Nav anyway. I order it without a deposit, rationalizing that I couldn't put $$ down on a car that I've never driven. Before it arrives, we will rent one (yes, Hertz has 'em!) to try before buying one. I aleady post on several Taurus forums and am clearing the garage for it!!!
  9. I couldn't agree more. I have been following the Five Hundred since early 2005. I test drove them and the things that kept me from buying it was the 3.0 motor and I always thought the grille on the FH looked too much like the Focus. I heard in late '05 of the changes coming for the '08 model year so I waited. I was so impressed with the changes that I ordered a Taurus sight unseen. It week 5 and I hope that it won't be much longer to wait for it.
  10. No. I only have a copy of the VOC (Vehicle Order Comfirmation sheet) provided by the sales guy. They are offering no other information.
  11. I put in an order for a 2008 Taurus in late June and my dealer (who checks each Monday) says that it has not shown up to be serialized or built. Is this unusual for it to take that long? It is a priority 10. I am sure that I am annoying the sales guy by calling each week but I sure would like to see it somewhere to track the progress. Any thoughts are appreciated!
  12. Glad to hear that is a nice system. Although it will be my wife's car, I hope to use it once in while.
  13. Those of you that have followed the FH and know the changes to the new Taurus will most likely agree that it is a big improvement. I for one will be glad to have my family riding in the new Taurus. It can't get here soon enough.
  14. Super-D-duper! Do you know how many watts it puts out? Do you have the Navigation unit?
  15. That is good to hear. My Taurus is on order and I had the dealer ad the Navigation option. After thinking about it, too much, I called the dealer and they weren't sure so I figured this would be the place to ask. I wanted to be sure I wasn't losing anything by adding Navigation. I am glad to hear that it is a nice stereo. The one in our '94 Taurus was a mighty weak one. I won't miss the cassette deck one bit!
  16. That is good to hear. I added the Navigation option to my in-process order and I want to be sure that the stereo/6CD/sound system that comes with Nav is not down graded from the Audiophile 6CD with amp and sub.
  17. A sound system question for the new Taurus. The Audiophile stereo has a 6-cd amp and sub-woofer, an upgrade over the single CD stereo. When you order Navigation, it deletes the Audiophile sysem. Just what stereo do you get with Navigation?
  18. Hi, We ordered a 2008 Taurus and I was curious if it has shown up "in the system". Thanks in advance for checking! Dealer code: 74005 Model Year: 2008 Body type: P28(?) AWD Limited Taurus Order Number: 5138 Order Code: 150A On the order sheet, it says "Priority: 10". What does this mean?
  19. Sure it out sold the Five Hundred but does that total include sales to police, taxi, rental agencies and senior centers?
