I don’t think they have very much influence at all.  Nor do the other blogs or websites or magazines.

I dismissed all of them years ago and put zero weight on what any of them report.  If I followed their advice I would've missed out on a bunch of satisfying Ford ownership experiences over the years.  I look past all of their petty personal opinions, do my own research, trust my gut feelings, then order exactly what I want sight unseen.  Don't even bother to test drive them first and have never been disappointed.   But I would have been disappointed many times had I listened to the self proclaimed experts.  I had eight months of doom and gloom reporting to cancel our Aviator GT... sure glad I didn't listen, again!!!

More evidence Ford is making the right decision, regardless of how I personally feel about it.

Personally, I hope to see the Fusion name continue... at least in a more versatile/desirable form like the AWD Fusion Active wagon.  It would be a nice replacement for both Fusion and Flex.  They could even offer a sedan version like Subaru did with the Legacy.

  3. Was talking to a GM at our large metro area Ford dealer yesterday and he seems fine with losing the sedans.  He said "the lot is always packed and each parking space used to move one sedan can now be used to move 10 or more SUVs in the same timeframe."  He summed up the changing demographics by saying "Nobody wants the third box anymore and if you remove it you have a wagon or SUV... but wagons never did well and SUVs are far more versatile."  Everyone there was also extremely exited about the Bronco reveal... it was a party-like atmosphere!!!

1988 460 was only rated at a little over 200hp and I guaran-fricking-tee it will out haul a 2.3 any day of the week.

Quoting 4000rpm HP numbers as an end-all, be-all is really naive and shows an unfamiliarity with trucks.

I thought the exact same way for a long time too.  But as I recall the 460 made 200 hp at 4500 rpm while the Ranger 2.3 with Ford's new performance kit makes 315 hp at the same 4500 rpm.  In the past I would have argued that the big block V8 was still a superior truck engine because its huge low end torque couldn't possibly be trumped by a little 4 banger.  Pretty sure the 460 I had made 200 ft-lb at 3000 rpm and maxed out at 280 ft-lb at 3500 rpm.  But surprisingly (at least to me) the 2.3 with performance kit is already making it's max torque of 370 ft-lb at just 2500 rpm!  I've had numeous Ford V8 trucks and SUVs over the years, but I had to totally reprogram my big block vs turbo banger way of thinking when I purchased my F150 Ecoboost... which easily trounces my 5.4 3V Expedition at any rpm.

What does Lincoln need to do now?

I think they need to keep the new Lincoln "look", but enhance it a little here and there. The next released/updated vehicle should update the current grille to keep it fresh.

There should also be unique design features for top end models. Not just a bit of chrome or darked out bits here and there.

Ahhh... you mean they should do something like this:

I know you’re one of those V8 or nothing guys, but if you don't like what’s in store then I can't help you.

Possible solution: buy 2.7L Bronco of your choice;  purchase 7.3L Godzilla crate engine along with cutting torch, welder and heavy duty front springs;  swap engines;  sell 2.7L "crate" engine on EBay as new car take-off;  enjoy monster V8 Bronco!

From all the leaks and rumors so far, it appears they hit many different people's wants in the Bronco so far. I'm very pleased with so many of the features.

I'm not pleased at all... we just got the Aviator GT so a Bronco isn't in the cards for awhile.?  Sure glad the new Mach 1 isn't more retro, at least I can scratch it off the must have list!

There's a difference between perception and reality but there's a parallel with another company... Apple.

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/272307/market-share-forecast-for-smartphone-operating-systems/

This is actually an excellent analogy.  Apple was first in smart phones and quality mobil devices.  Through inovative design and clever marketing they quickly created a loyal following that still thinks to this day that nothing else could possibly come close to competing with them... sound familiar?  Many diehard Apple loyalists also believe their devices still have world dominance because they don't feel the need to look around and check out what the competition has accomplished slowly and steadily over the years.  But... the world market share of Android devices produced by many companies to Apple devices produced by one company is now 87% Android to 13% Apple.  The exact same thing will happen to Tesla but their loyalists will never know.  Our first smart devices were all Apple too, but we decided to switch when Samsung got their act together and we're not going back anytime soon.  My wife was issued a new Apple for her work phone and after having a Galaxy she hates using the iPhone.  The Mach-E will take off when it's actually available and the virus thing is behind us... and soon after the floodgates will start opening with more BEV models from Ford and everyone else.  Tesla will still thrive and rightly so, but some day their world market share will be closer to 13%... just like Apple.

I'm not an Apple or Tesla hater and I really admire what Elon Musk has accomplished with all of his companies... he's just like Steve Jobs!

If a dealer refused to honor X-Plan after negotiating, I could just travel to one of the other dealers in the area

Do you have to tie your reservation to a certain dealer when you submit it or are you free to shop around and change dealers before placing the final order?  Will there be any complicated dealer allocation limits for the Mach-E?

Accidents are unavoidable, crashes have faults because someone did something

I'm the youngest of my siblings by quite a few years and dad always said I was an accident... guess he should have said I was a crash.  I'm thinking it was avoidable, lol.

I'm intrigued by the manual option but not enough to go 4 cyl over V6, and I have to think I'm not alone?

You are deffinelty not alone!  According to this article it appears the manual tranny should easily handle the torque of any engine that will fit in the new Bronco:

Wait, they don't? I just saw one in a parking lot a few days ago and I don't think it had M-plates on it. I don't remember seeing a sticker in a window like a preproduction test car would.

As far as I can tell GT production didn't start until the first week of December of last year, including mine.  But they didn't start shipping until sometime in January.
