  1. Hola, I've noticed that Ford has two part numbers for very expensive tail lamp assemblies for the 2008-2010 Escape: 8L8Z-13404-B - R 8L8Z-13405-B - L The standard North American Escape tail lamp assemblies have the same part numbers, but with -A suffixes. Both of these "-B" assemblies cost well over $350, so I was wondering if anyone from Ford knows if these are the part numbers for export (amber-signal) tail lamp assemblies. Thanks!
  2. Here are some updated pictures with my new camera.
  3. I didn't wait for someone else to do something about the Edge's cluster and control lighting. :D
  4. Yes, I'd add Sync for sure. The headrest DVD players are accessories. I'm not sure I'd install them unless I can see exactly what they look like.
  5. I always change oil when it's warm-to-hot as well. Is the top part of the filter easily accessible, as it was on the 2005-2007 models? If it is, I used a cap-type filter wrench to loosen the filter, then I trapped all of the oil that falls out with the lower section of a large Dasani plastic water bottle, cut to about 1" longer than the length of the filter. The bottle traps all of the hot oil, and it's snug enough around the filter to loosen it. No mess, and no burned hands. HTH...
  6. If she's a financial analyst, despite being well-educated, some people just aren't car people, and they go straight to the Accord, CR-V, Camry, or Highlander without even looking at anything else.
  7. Did I see amber rear signals? I just fell off my chair. It's about freaking time. Do I dare hope that they'll make it to production, along with mirror repeater lamps?
  8. I've had my 2007 SEL + for more than a year now. Zero problems, and I have every factory option except for the rear-seat DVD player (which can't be ordered with the BAMR). If I had to order one today, I'd order it the same way, except for Sync, and maybe the Pebble interior. In fact, our Fusion hasn't had a single problem, either.
  9. Same here. No problems.
  10. This is one of many reasons that I chose to buy an Edge last year, instead of an Escape or Escape Hybrid. I wanted a Vista Blue Hybrid, but ordering a moonroof kills the Vista Blue color (something that I still don't understand). If I were Ford's webmaster, I'd track how many pop-up windows that users encounter while "building" cars on the site (such as the one I did, "your selection of the power moonroof requires the following change: Oxford White replaces Vista Blue", or something like that), then get those statistics assembled so that the marketing department can start analyzing what people are trying to order. I gave up with all of the things I couldn't get on an Escape Hybrid, even when much of what I wanted was available on other Escape models (and had nothing to do with the drivetrain). [shrug]
  11. Well, I just found out about step 1, the BAMR switch connector. It's a 14-pin connector that Ford also uses for some audio head units, and it's sold separately as pigtail assembly WPT-287. This is available for about $55. That's a little steep for the two pins I'm going to remove from it and plug into the connector already in the car (so I can run the ground and Accessory Delay leads), so I'm going to see if the pins are available separately. At least I found the correct connector. More later. I may start another thread on this to stay on-topic when I find out more.

  14. Yeah, I'd agree with that. The 3.5 is an awesome engine. Why isn't Ford bragging about it to anyone that sees it? Can it really cost that much to at least emboss the Ford oval? Here's something else I discovered yesterday. My '07 has the BAMR. The wiring diagrams show that the switches for the BAMR are lighted in the MKX, but not in the Edge. Since I've swapped out the dim green LEDs in most of the controls to bright blue ones, I decided to take apart the BAMR switch to see if the LEDs are inside the switch, and they are. The only reason they're not lighted is that there's no wire running from the Accessory Delay feed running up the A-pillar to the switch assembly...a 3-foot piece of wire, and missing only on the Edge. The ground is already there. That extra wire will be there when I'm done with it, but I have to wonder why a top-of-the-line Edge (or any Edge with the BAMR, for that matter), wouldn't have lighted controls when 1) it's so easy to add, and 2) they're on the MKX (actually, on the MKX, they're tied to instrument panel lighting, but I think they should be tied to accessory delay, just like the window controls). Here's the circuit board inside the BAMR switch. The LEDs are the small white squares, and they do work (pins 1 and 2 on the switch connector). /rant
  15. Check out what's below "Cars to avoid". This made my day. Now I have to clean up the coffee that I was trying to drink when I saw it.
