The only reason the Edge is selling so well is because it’s on its way out and we will be done building them soon. Maybe dealers are just stocking up on them knowing they will be obselete soon. We all know Edge Nautilus would’ve done just fine if they had made them Hybrid and redesigned them here. EV is the future, right?
I'm adding another one to the fleet on Saturday, passing my wife's '19 to our daughter, trading-in the '18 Escape she uses now. My wife has so enjoyed hers, I couldn't let the inventory evaporate without getting a fresh one. And honestly, the incentives in my area are no big deal.

From what I'm reading on R6G, 50 or so 2024's shipped last week, with a confirmed delivery to a customer thru Brighton Ford in MI. It appears as though the OKTB might have been lifted.

Still far too many dealer stock combinations.
I don't think that list is dealer stock only, at least not by the language in the 1st paragraph.

Damn them, no Maverick version (other than the stick-on).

The original sport Trac worked because it offered a full rear seat and a V8 neither of which Ranger offered at the time. With today’s Ranger crew cab 2.7L it would be redundant.Plus, it was stupidly expensive if all you wanted was a 4(full)-door Ranger.

So don't sell it as the next edge. The edge was never iconic anyways, but the explorer is. Expand the explorer sub-brand, take the third row out, all of a sudden, you have a two row crossover with class leading rear cargo capacity.
And keep the OAL the same? No thanks, that extra 10" makes a difference in how it fits in my garage.

A 24' Edge SEL is $39,665. A 25' Explorer Active is $39,625. A 24' Edge Titanium is $43,820. A 25' Explorer with the Active Comfort package is $42,705.
Except a 2024 Edge SEL is AWD, so a 2025 Explorer Active with AWD and Active Comfort is $47,695. Let's compare apples to apples.

I watched a video about the comparison of a 25' Active and a 24' Edge SEL. Adding the Active Comfort Package make it a close match to a Titanium. I like how Ford has bridged the gap and offered customers a very close alternative to a "25' Edge".
Huh? I've been trying to convince my wife to get a '24 Edge before they're gone, when I build a similar '25 Explorer Active it's $6K more at MSRP.
Maybe share the video link that show's me what I'm missing?

I for one will not worry about the 900 dollars added to the cost of a new vehicle.
The irony is that the UAW got their members a $1500 Member Discount, on top of the A-Plan employee purchase plan an employee can use, so they don't have to pay the up-charge as a result of their new contract.

but if I could buy a similar truck today for the same $21,000, I’d choose it over $30,000 hybrid XLT Maverick. Just a reminder that vehicle affordability is relative, and not improving.
The truck you are looking for is available, just over the border,,,,,

Tried to tell you guys the Maverick owners are passionate and do a lot more customizing than sedan owners. And buyers like that don’t need discounts or rebates.
Heck, mine is at the dealer as we speak getting a new set of glossy black rims,,,,,,

I need to measure mine, but I have storage cabinets, rolling workbench/tool cabinet and some woodworking tools plus a fridge in mine and I fit my Bronco and Escape in it without an issue. Its a little tight in places (aka Passenger can't get into the Bronco) but it fits. Snowblower and other crap goes into the shed and gets wedged in between the Bronco and Escape when it threatens to snow out.
But an Expedition is a bus vs an Edge too..its something like 210+ inches long. IMO I don't want to go any longer than 190~ inches on my cars...otherwise they feel too big to me.
Agreed, width can be a problem too. Here is my current garage, 19' 7" wide, 19' 5" from the door to the stub wall next to the stairs. My HOA mandates no sheds or outside storage of trash cans, so EVERYTHING has to be inside. My Maverick fits fine on the left side (backed-in), my wife's Edge is on the right.

In the grand scheme of things is 10 inches or so (OL) between an say an Explorer vs an Edge going to make that much of a difference?
My house is about 30 years old and I fit all my cars I had from a 2013 SHO to a 2006 Mustang. The SHO was 202 inches long and the Mustang was about 189 or roughly the same length as an Edge.
Standard size is 20x20, so even with a bigger car like an Explorer, you'd still have about 24 inches front to back.
Agreed, but what about shelving, workbenches, garbage cans, lawn mowers/snow blowers? I don't know of anyone with a "naked" garage.

Any updates on this? My 2017 escape 2.0 has this same issue. I’m still under 60k miles but over the 5 year on the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty. Dealer is telling me my extended warranty wont cover the engine replacement which is $8k. Are there any other actions I can take?
This is now two ford’s in a row that have had major issues before or around 70k miles.
After the engine on my 2018 Escape was replaced under warranty, due to coolant intrusion, I purchased a Ford extended warranty, just for additional peace of mind. Below is the exact language of what is covered under the PremiumCare version that I bought.
What does your paperwork say?

My electrical panel is in attached garage, and I was able to add 50A circuit (not for EV) with very little cost. Didn’t even take that long. I also helped family member install a few 50A in his garage for EV charging (one used now and others for future) and that didn’t cost much either. Granted, in many areas DIY electrical of this type is not allowed AFAIK.Aren't these EV's coming with the Nema 14-50 pigtail anymore? While a dedicated charger would be faster, this would certainly suit my needs.

A lot of people just don’t know that it was never ever made in the US. The new one is a great product, I would of preferred it to be built on this side of the world but business is business.
For all the time I've spent in SE Michigan, most people there seem to think that Windsor/Canada is just a suburb of Detroit,,,,,

Looking at costs, I was surprised that cars like new Mazda 3 are so fuel efficient already with 2.5L NA engine and 6-speed auto that incremental fuel savings for me probably would not pay for a hybrid upgrade. I don’t drive that much around town, and if I took a long highway trip, the Mazda was tested by Car and Driver to get over 40 MPG at steady 75 MPH.
Well, there you go. You found yourself a vehicle with a NA engine and a manual transmission, albeit one that cost more than a base Maverick. Good luck bringing that 4x8 sheet home with it though.

The high beams are that way I think. They’re probably halogens not xenons. The xenons have a built in ballast at the base that’s about 1” thick and 2.5” square.
Still, they could have easily made the headlamp assembly removable by using a tab and slot on the bottom instead of a screw. Then just 2 screws on top. Or make a bigger opening.
I noticed similar issues on my Mondeo based 2013 Fusion. It used screws to hold on the cabin air filter cover and was a bit of an ordeal to change the filter whereas the Mazda based cd3 fusions and edge just had a door with plastic tabs.
Have you had to replace the battery yet? That's another head-shaker,,,,,
