I serve on the board of directors of an organization that provides homes at cost, for people in need. (Not saying the name but I think most will get it).

It's been a while, but I used to be proud to be able to provide my talent and "swing a hammer" for that organization, until I realized they were more interested in a financial contribution than a physical one.

Serious question (and I don’t know the answer) - did Tacoma sales fall when Ranger came back?  Did Wrangler sales fall when Bronco came back?  Maybe Ranger and Bronco are the answer for buyers who don’t want a Tacoma or Wrangler as opposed to them being in direct competition for buyers?

On the contrary, Tacoma sales INCREASED when Ranger was re-introduced for the 2019 MY.

That was me wearing my moderator cap.  We aren’t going to turn this into a back and forth debate that devolves into personal attacks.

For our travels between CHI and DFW, we had a 12V TV/VCR combination that was strapped down on the center console/armrest. We'll be there in 2 more movies,,,,,,

issue is you wages too much it effects the bottom line just as cost of materials has, so to counter, prices get raised AGAIN....where does it end..? The ultimate loser is the consumer...who is kind of an important piece of the puzzle....I would speculate this may just lead to encouraging more and more automation and potential streamlining and layoffs....

As well as moving more production out of the country,,,,,

    What is 1,000,000 x $0?  Volume doesn’t mean profit.

Agreed, but where's the proof that Lincoln is profitable?  Platform sharing is one thing, but consider all the bespoke tooling for exterior panels, interior components (seats, dash, door panels), unique powertrain offerings, at these volumes?  It's tough to imagine they make the profit some would like to believe they do.

The actual term “badge engineering” literally means slapping a different badge on the same product.  Fusion/Milan/MKZ are perfect examples as were the early Navigators.  Lincoln stopped badge engineering a decade ago.

With all due respect, that's YOUR definition.  Not every agrees with you, but you are entitled to your opinion. As are the rest of us.

Tesla wins permit approval for Diner and Drive-in Movie Supercharger in LA (teslarati.com)

    Highlights.

    • Tesla has been teasing the possibility for several years of a drive-in movie theater and diner Supercharger site that would host 32 stalls, two screens to show famous movie clips, and a restaurant with rooftop seating.
    • The plan was approved by the City of Los Angeles, and the permit was issued on July 18, 2023
    • On August 9, the initial grading inspection was completed and approved, so Tesla essentially has the green light to finally move forward with the project.

But that’s exactly where they should be.  Neither one survives without the other.  It’s a partnership.  Good leaders understand that and work within the boundaries of what the company is able to do financially and get other benefits.  Being adversarial and making outrageous demands helps nobody.

Just ask 30K Yellow Trucking employees,,,,,,

The way I understand the situation is that would be legally considered part time work so the company would be under no legal obligation to continue to provide benefits which opens up a whole different can of worms.

Either way I want no part of a 32 hour work week, I would go stir crazy with that much time off. These 16 hour weeks I’m on now are bad enough.

FWIW, for the last 6 months before I retired, I worked (3) 10's, as 30 hours/week was enough to keep me & my wife on the company health insurance program.

    What trade you heading into?

Of course it makes sense for a buyer who wants the absolute cheapest vehicle with zero options.  But it doesn’t make sense for Ford when the base version of the next model up is almost the same price.

Take Explorer - XLT is only $1800 more than a base model and includes the following upgrades.

Agreed. For those of us that don't need to impress the neighbors, that 200A Explorer can be a good deal.
