http://www.autosavant.net/2008/01/new-taur...-next-year.html
not sure exactly, but definitely not EUCD
There is a good chance we will see this car in Chicago in three weeks !!
Igor
Sounds good, I'm really excited to see this new Taurus, especially if we will get to see it so soon.
In your article there, you mentioned a full 3.5L Hybrid powertrain. I hadn't heard of this before. Aren't the current Ford hybrids based of the 2.5 or thereabout? What type of mileage would you expect from a 3.5 Hybrid, if Taurus already gets 28 mpgs with the normal 3.5? I'd expect it'd be either at or over 30 mpgs.

Kind of a Mark VII inspired MK, with a bit of every other generation thrown in LOL
I like it. Not sure about (what I assume is) the tire hump thing on the trunk lid, but other than that, I like it.
Great work as usual!
I'm curious, were you trying to have it be named "Mark Eleven" MKXI would be the proper roman numerical name, I believe.

Remember when the 61 Continental was called "Compact Luxury?"
I redid my earlier chop with some MKR/T cues. On the last one I literally chopped in a 41 Continental grill, thinner and more elegant IMHO.
Looks nice.
I see you used the VCC (or whichever Volvo station wagon concept it was from a few years ago) as the base.

Ford made the anticipated engine announcement for the Escape and Mariner yesterday...
So is this the new 2.5 that the CD3 twins will get next year then?
-
Wow, the 2.5 liter increased Gas mileage in the escape by 1 mpg..... wow thats alot. GOOD JOB FORD.
Yes, but it also has increased horsepower by 11% to 170-hp. (don't know the old hp figures, so I don't know the hp difference, only percentage from the article)

I am thinking about buying a new Mountaineer to replace my 2003 Mountaineer. I currently have the V8 that gets...surprise surprise....13MPG around town and 19 on the road, exactly what the new "real world" sticker rating estimates on new Mountaineers. I noticed that the 6 cylinder doesn't get any better mileage. Why is that? Why buy one? Why does Ford even MAKE one if it can't offer better fuel economy with the reduced power?
I've been wondering the same thing and it's been debated here quite a bit, IIRC. I'd think it'd be a smart move to throw the 3.5 in the Explorer until the new model comes. I think a more fuel efficient option would help to slightly spur sales.
So to answer your question, why make one? Right now it seems the only advantage to having a V6 model is price.

About 4 years behind the Curve.
In these vehicles, maybe. I believe Ford have FFV Taurus' and F-150(?) running around years ago before anybody bothered to advertise them.
-
Do you think it will be backwards compatible with the 07/08 radios? Could you just do a head unit swap?
You mean the SYNC system? I doubt it. I'd assume the SYNC system has tons of wires and stuff that may run all over the place behind the dash. I'm just guessing here, so it could be possible, but my guess is it wouldn't be possible to simply switch head units.

That 09' Mark LT link was a photoshop- I think with a little modification that would have been a good looking truck...
Yes, you're correct, it was....I did it.

D32 based
Igor
So will this just be a stop-gap until the RWD model comes or will there even be a RWD model now?
-
From what I hear, the roof line stays. Minor, non sheetmetal tweaks are all it gets.
Well I for one hope they change that roofline.
-
Sounds like there are several very good improvements to the Escape and Mariner.

The Magnum got MUCH better looking for 2008 compared with the previous years:
2008:
OTHER:
Actually in that last shot...it looks like a XF.
Those pictures make it look better than it does in person. Have you seen one in person, it looks very plain.
I don't know where you're seen XF because I don't think it looks like the XF at all.
-
Also odd that PATS ain't standard on the SD. Especially an SD with leather, etc. With PATS, the only way you can steal the truck is if you've got one of the keys. PCM won't fire without a signal from the key.
They're supposedly standard as of 2008.

All are a bit:
I like them all (well, the Econoline is not that great looking, but it doesn't need to be, either).
-
I'm sorry, you probably haven't heard of them. It's difficult to hear in with your head like it is.
-
And I must say, I believe they screwed up the styling. This is my opinion, but the new truck had less traffic than the current one. The model they had was the blue FX4. The doors were locked and the hood shut. I personally was disappointed. The little drop piece on the headlights looks cheesy as well as the taillights. The interior (looking through the window) looks impressive, but it doesnt match the style of the exterior. The FX4 wheels are ugly and not a bit off roadish looking. I am a long time blue oval lover. I drag race a 91 GT and have owned at least 8 F-series ranging from a 78 F150, 88 f150, 03 F250 gas, 03 F250 diesel (7.3), and currently an 03 F150 Screw. I just think the styling leads a lot to be desired and I reserved judgement until I seen one in person. Curious as to what the other styles look like.
I'm surprised it's at other auto shows so quickly after NAIAS.

I sold 5 of them in 2007, every owner is completely happy with them, all paid over sticker. How many have you sold? How many have you owned? How many have you driven? If the answer is <1, what do you know about it again??? If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Here's 3 of them I had handy,
Sold this well over sticker, year later in for a checkup a couple months ago, yup, still happy:
I think the GT500s are good looking vehicles. I like the KR's looks even better.
I think the GT, while it looks good in any way, looks strange without the stripes. I'll take mine in white w/ blue stripes please!

From what I've read, as happens with the Fusion, only the top model Edge will be available in Brazil, have yet to confirm which one will be, the SEL or the Limited.
Interesting....I don't know the Brazilian market very well, but I'd think the SEL model would have the best chance of having the highest sales possible (as opposed to Limited, because of price, of course).

Agreed, FOE's hand was needed to make an impact.
 Typical pscario....
-
SUV is correct. The current Ram uses a 5 speed not a 4.
EDIT: Upon further inspection on the Dodge web site, a 4 speed is available as an option (which I find rather strange).
Why would you offer a 4 speed? Is it cheaper or something?
-
thank you
You're quite welcome.
-
Exactly.
The TRUTH that your posts are often exaggerated caricatures of reality hurts, doesn't it?
But that's okay. If the truth hurts, you can always pretend you didn't see it, right?
Yet another derailed topic.

One other point from the article: The Ford stolen vehicle rate is way higher than Chevy or Dodge. No mention of Toyota.....
Maybe that's because there's more of them around to steal?

But then you can say you're helping to lower our dependance on foreign oil. LOL
I think, like anything, if able to be produced in larger quantities, it'd be cheaper.
