  1. I'd be thrilled if Ford made more coupe models!

Ford only offers the Mustang and Focus. Neither of which I'm interested in. I don't want to drive a Mustang because A: I'm not having a mid-life crisis yet, and B: I don't want every 19 year old Ricer wanting to race me at every stop light. OTOH - The Focus is a car for college kids or first time new car buyers, I'm way past that.

I'd like to see at LEAST a Fusion coupe, or better yet use the Mercury line up as the coupe department. I think a Miata rebadged as a Mercury is a great idea. Conceptually, I didn't like the grille on the new Lincoln MKR? (the coupe concept). I do like the new Lincoln sedan and think a coupe version would be OUTSTANDING.

    HELLO Ford is anybody listening?

In the Fusion marketplace it seems everyone else does have a coupe version. I havn't heard that the Solara is going away, but I have seen spy shots of the next Accord coupe.

I'm pretty sure 07 (or 08) was the last year for the Solara (at least that's what I thought I heard somewhere).

  2. Blah. No. Bad. Make the Pentastar go away!

    Soooo not moving forward.

I agree. I thought the 'redesign' was supposed to 'bring it into the 21st century'/bring it up to date. I didn't know that filling in the gaps and making it brushed aluminum made it modern. I dont think it looks good at all IMO.

I like this one anyways though...

  3. I believe GM has decided to get rid of the corporate logo on their vehicles in 2008. I thought it was kind of pointless anyway.

I think it was a stupid idea also. I also think it takes away from the looks of some (if not all) cars, like Corvette, to have a stupid tiny little chromed GM box tacked on in the middle of the body paneling. Most people probably don't even notice it though.

  4. Ford had an Edge body shell on display at the Eden Corn Festival this past weekend, since the Edge and MKX body panels are stamped at the Woodlawn Stamping Plant just south of Buffalo.

Unless this is an MKX liftgate, the Edge liftgate has definitely changed. Note the rectangular opening on the lower part of the liftgate:

    edgebody.jpg

does the new liftgate handle design mean that the liscense plate will be moved to the bumper like the MKX also?

  5. I actually like it. However, I do think some work needs to be done to grill. The narrow upper opening and gaping lower opening looks a bit awkward to me. Some minor tweaking is all it really needs.

I agree. It doesn't look too bad. I think that face works better on the S-Max/Galaxy though. We need aa different front end for the US, IMO

  6. I think it would sell well just like that. People wanting to buy an econobox, buy it for mileage and price. It sure beats the other offerings out there at the moment.

Yes, people may buy an econobox for mileage/price, but IMO if Ford made a good looking econobox, it could motivate people to buy it because of not only its mileage/price but also its design/looks

  7. Looks proportionately inaccurate, the lower valance on the Fusion has a opening smaller than the grille cut out. The grille orientation is something that should be considered for future updates though!

Do you mean the lower valance on the regular (S,SE,SEL) Fusions? If so, this SVT model has a front fascia that is lower than the standard Fusion, allowing for a larger lower air intake, to help the Twin Force 3.5 or 3.7 breathe.

  8. DEAR GOD MAN! WHY WASN'T I NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS EARLIER!

WOW, that is a pretty machine! I have never heard of it before! Do the baby boomers know about it?

Or has Ford-Lincoln managed to keep it secret? That thing is beautiful! Gosh darnit why won't they build it?!

I found this neat little article on the Lincoln Mark X (that's Mark Ten): Serious Wheels Lincoln Mark X article with fabo pics

    I love that car!

    XLR competitor anyone?

  9.

Anything is possible using LED lamps. I would cetainly be sure the next Tbird had LED lamps in the front and for sidemarker lights too. It's just a modern element that looks high tech.

Anyway with the programable LED taillamps you could make a message board out of them lke some of those new roadside billoards... LOL! Imagine the sheer ricer tackiness of the words FORD THUNDERBIRD scrolling up and then fading away or trasitioning into a giant Tbird emblem across the back.

Okay, we will leave it to just sequential turn signals.... Howeve I am not sure the blue dots would pass federal regulations being a factory option since blue lighting is typically reserved for law enforcement vehicles. I never got the whole blue dot thing anyway even when people had them on classic vehicles...

    How about this?

Maybe Ford has already made the next Thunderbird and they dont know it yet.

  10. Here's an SVT Fusion I came up with, I gave it some nice big wheels and buldged out the fenders, I gave it a nice agressive stance, I'm sure you can tell the changes...

    What do you think?

  11. I like your mid-box door - that is creative. My dogs give you two paws up. You COULD have some space to work with for storage that way too.

Thanks, well, I figured truck customers are always looking for storage areas as well as having the "new thing" on the block for bragging rights, etc.

  12. I still think the F-150 is far better looking than new Silverado in every way. The biggest exterior problem on Silverado in my view is side profile look with those huge rear wheel openings. They are so huge that almost all of chassis shows through. It looks very tacky. The F-150 has fairly large rear wheel openings, but not near as large as Silverado. On the Ford, you barely notice it, but on Silverado it almost glares back at you.

I think it helps hide chassis bits, etc. that the Ford has circular/half circle wheel wells (follows shape of wheel) as opposed to the Chevy's boxy looking wheel wells, I never have liked that squared off look to the wheel wells of the Chevy trucks/suvs

  13. To each his own, the fenders and bed flare out WAY too much, and the stock rims on the pickups just looks so small it's almost silly. Not to mention all the decontenting, lack of chrome and side body moulding in general. Most of all on the Tahoes and Suburbans, considering their price tag.

You're probably referring to the lower end models as well, the higher end models don't look bad IMO. That said, I'd still take an F-150. :D I mean who wouldn't want the most capable (best looking also IMO) half ton pickup available? :flexing:

  14. Not suprising. The new GM pickups looks hideous with cheap interiors. My former employer switched from Silverados to F-150s when the current Silverados debuted because of how ugly and cheap he found them to be upon inspection at the last auto show.

Really? IMO they are MUCH better looking than the models they replaced.

  15. I see it this way, I think there should be a fine balance between both...BUT I would lean more towards critics...Why ? Critics have the forum to persuade buyers, who are buying thousands of cars on a daily basis...A Loyalist buys it every couple of years. Granted, there's many loyalists (specially for Ford, specially in the pick-up segment) that they shouldn't ignore either. Traditionally Ford hasn't listened much to the critics, and it's probably till recently that they have started to. I see the critic as the hook...once they hook someone, the customers purchases a product, then they become a loyalist IF they had a good experience with the vehicle.

I think Ford is already beginning to listen to critics as evidenced by the 08 Edge update. They redesigned the rear hatch because of criticism of the 07's design.

  16. Thanks for the reply. I did forget to mention that I was referring to the 150.

So, other than those two things, there is no major reason to wait for a 08 F-150... grabbing an 07 off the lot now I would not be missing out on any major updates for 08?

Other than those two, I cant really think of any. The only other possibilities I could think of would be: Voice-Activated Nav system (if not offered on 07s already), and maybe Sync? (late availability if even offered on 08s, Ford may just wait until the 09s)

  17. I just purchased a set of take off rims 22's with Toyo tires size 305/40/22 will I have a problem with these rubbing? I will be putting these on my 06 F-150... If they are to big I might just put them on my 07 Expedition EL...

    Thanks

I don't think you'll have a problem. My dad put 22s on his 04 F-150 he had Toyo tires he now has different tires though (dont know what type) They fit fine on the truck. Do you mean rubbing against the wheel well or what?

  18. really?

    - no sliders

    - no fold flat second OR THIRD row of seats

    - no power fold or remote fold seats

    - no power lift gate or doors

    - lack of storage areas

    - tiny third row seats

    - narrow - lack of shoulder room

    - low - lack of head room

    - ride too firm

    - engine not up to par (thirsty and not as powerful)

yeah totally it is HEAD AND SHOULDERS above the competition ... Ford would steal the market from the Dodge/Chrysler minivans with they awful stow-n-go and swivel-n-go seats, three different entertainment systems, etc or from the Japanese with their refined V6, cubbies everywhere and legendary reliability... they have no chance ..

    Igor

it hasn't been Americanized yet, if it were to come here it would need to be tweaked to better sustain the American market
