  1. Can I add a question? Does the install of a super or turbo charger negate the veh warranty? And who installes them if I can't (and I can't ... I'm no wrench), the Ford dealer or specialty shops? Thanks! Scott
  2. All great comments, thanks everyone - here I've learned something already, I didn't know there was a diff between a super and a turbocharger. Now I'm even more pscyhed!
  3. I love my Bullitt. But after attending the Sturgis Mustang Rally, I've got the itch to do something .... Anyone have experience with putting a blower on a Mustang? I see Ford has one, and there are other mfg'rs. It looks like an auto 85 hp increase right off the bat, am I right? Info would be appreciated. Scott/Minneapolis
  4. The 'search' function is down, so forgive me if this topic's been discussed, but I didn't see that anyone discussed or attended last week's 2nd Annual Sturgis Mustang Rally, which I hadn't heard of until I saw it advertised during the bike rally, so went back out 2 weeks later with my son for the car rally. I understand they had about 150 cars last year, and close to 300 registrants this year. They have some way to go as far as organizing, but after all, it was only the 2nd year. I'd hoped for some vendors to look at wheels and tires, etc, but either they've not heard of it yet or don't think it's worth their while for these numbers ... yet. I'm used to the 500,000+ bikers for bike week, so the few people for the car rally was delightful, as was the weather. Not crowded, great site seeing, and even nicer because SD schools were in session so nothing was crowded. Old school, new school, customs, they were there. I'll see if I can add some photos, not sure I know how, though. But a good trip next year if anyone's interested, worth Googling for their web page. (sorry, couldn't upload pix, but will gladly send some if you email me at harrlaw@comcast.net )
  5. Good idea, thanks. Am curious what other Bullitt owners have done, too.
  6. I did search the archives but if there were suggestions, I missed them, sorry . . . My 2008 Bullitt came w/o a traditional spare tire (instead an inflation kit). I'd feel better if I had an actual tire back there, just in case. I'm not rich ($800+) or OCD enough to need a spare that matches the other four tires & wheels, so would even be happy with a scrawny temporary spare or a basic tire on steel rim (if they even make them anymore :-) I'm working from an assumption a Mustang wheel pattern is the same for all Mustangs, so wouldn't any wheel fitting an '08 Mustang work for my Bullitt too? Curious if anyone has a lower-cost suggestion for a spare? Thanks, Scott
  7. JT, all things considered, I'd say those are pretty fair price increases. Compared to gas, food and most everything else, those increases almost qualify as rebates! Thx for info. Scott/Minneapolis
  8. Nick, first kudos on, did I read that right, 12,500 posts?! Wow! Your point on resale is very well taken, and frankly, I'm not sure any of these cars we're buying, at least I'll speak for myself, are necessarily "investment vehicles." My friend's Ford GT, maybe. My Bullitt, probably not, at least not in the foreseeable future. What's been hard when I was looking more seriously at the GT-H, and I guess I still would consider an 07, is ... what is the actual value of these? Obviously they aren't worth the $250,000 #1 brought, but both the 06's & 07's started by bringing over $50K and within 6 mos were down in the 30's. Pretty crazy for a true limited production run of 500 cars. Does it matter it's been a rental? Some would say that makes it worth less, some would say, in true GT-H tradition, that's what makes it a GT-H. How much does it matter it's a Shelby? Does that add to the value ... or has Ford & Shelby about run the "special edition" thing into the ground? I don't know the answers, and one of the reasons I opted for the Bullitt was the price was pretty absolute, at least within a pretty limited range + or - of MSRP, rather than the obvious gouging (sorry, perjorative term) that has occurred with some Shelbys. I was uncomfortable not being able to put my finger on what a GT-H was "really" worth. I guess whatever someone will pay, but that makes it hard if one's not got $ to throw away. Time will tell. It appears the few 06's that are still available for purchase have about hit their low end. Thanks for the reply. Scott
  9. Jeff, I can't disagree. And there are some awful YouTube videos showing people beating the daylights out of their rental GT-H's. Some have said "but they're built to take a lickin'," but you'd hate to get one that had the tar beat out of it. What does intrigue me is the very low mileage on some of these cars - one was on E-bay with 7,000 miles and I've seen & heard of ones for sale with even fewer miles, but I suppose that doesn't mean they haven't been beat. Thx for the reply. Scott
  10. I'm not sure what it means I'm replying to my own post, but maybe no one else is interested in the GT-H. I still think it's a very cool car, especially the convert. I'm fairly amazed they are stalling out at about 35K on Ebay, if they are even getting that high. Pretty amazing for a 500 production limit Shelby I think.
  11. Just my imagination or has there been a very marked decrease in discussion as of late?
  12. Although my Mustang quest ended with a 2008 Bullitt I couldn't be happier with, it was the convertible 07 GT-H I rented that got me started. A reason I opted for the Bullitt was it's such a bargain, and the 07 GT-H's were predictably high when they were released. From what little I've been watching on E-bay it looks like they're taking the path of the 06's and really going down in price. Anyone tracking them more closely as to availability & price? Scott/Minneapolis
  13. Glad to hear you're enjoying your 08, I sure am too - best fun investment I've made! Have been too busy to really keep track of things in the forum, but intend to. Interesting question you raised. Although I intend to leave mine pretty much stock, I have toyed with the idea of putting on a set of Cragar S/S mags and red line tires. Also, as much as I love the exhaust (and the fact they tuned it to match the orig movie tone), I've wondered what putting on a set of good old throaty glass-pacs or a modern equiv would do to the performance and what I'd have to do? Scott/Minneapolis
  14. Viper, I know you don't want to be bothered with other than requests, but you were so good with mine that I wanted to give you an "after arrival" update. I'd actually posted this elsewhere in blueoval, but want to share. Your updates made the journey all the more fun. Thanks again, Scott in Minneapolis: After years of nursing a broken heart after selling my 67 GTO, all the while pondering what to replace it with, it was about a year ago I rented a GT-H and decided that was the car for me. The quest to buy an 07 GT-H convert took me down a number of unexpected paths, the final surprising me as much as anyone, but I have about 350 miles on my Bullitt and couldn't be happier. The older we get there are fewer times we get to proclaim, "Wow, that exceeded my expectations!" But the Bullitt has in every way. It's fast, it's unique, it's not so much flash it's overdone, but anyone who knows cars clearly recognizes it. During my quest I bet I talked with at least 35 dealers nationwide, most mediocre at best, a good number just awful, and a couple superb. Among the absolute best is our own ice-capades from this forum. Look him up if you want a standup guy who will do anything for you. I love my Bullitt!
