I've mostly seen pretty good engineers and designers. The problem is that they're frequently force to change their ideas/designs by the bean counters to save a few cents per part. Most salaried are not in decision making roles. Most (like me) are in support roles.

Don't know what he/she is talking about, but you have to assume he/she is salaried, as the salaried employee cuts are supposed to be done by Aug. 1.

The guys who are working on them said it's closer to 98mpg. Don't know the driving mix (hwy/city) they used. So it's probably all speculation at this point.

I know there are a few PHEV Escapes around the Dearborn R&E Center rumored to get that kind of mpg, but I thought they were hand-built prototypes. Didn't think they were ready for prod.

Wrong. Ford Dearborn campus is shut down from Friday night 6/27 until Monday 7/7. Very few (mostly IT) people will be able to get past the guard shack that week.

The salaried that were offed this week were all agency people. Rumor has it that the Ford employee layoffs will be the week of July 15th.

Do you have a Ford CDSID? If you can get on the Ford intranet from work, that same password should work for the employees network. Not sure how dealer's network works though.

Hmmm, You're making the same wild-ass generalizations that davdog did. Just a different target. What makes you think that "salaried = rich"? I know many folks who put in extra hrs. without pay (there is no OT pay for salaried). Work from home, to cover the gaps left by Way Forward cuts. Yes there wer many cuts to salaried personell. It just didn't get as much air time. So while you say "Don't lable everyone in this plant.......", you're perfectly willing to label every salaried Ford worker.

Talked to a guy today who saw it in person. He's a big-wig in the R&E center (an LL2). He said that the real impressive part of the car is the interior. That was really good to hear.

It very well may be real. Some websites have been asked by Ford legal to take it down, but some haven't. I kinda think it's a pretty good intentional leak, although who'll by the 2009 knowing that this is coming. It obviously came from the design studio since there's a clay model behind it. ps. Rumor has it that it will in fact have the 3.5 ecoboost as an option.
