Our great union told us that we were closing and that there was nothing we could do. They said our plant chairperson Scott Smith even mentioned going with 2 tier wages, and the company said it didnt matter because they had no new product for us, the Crown Vic was done in 2011 along with the Town Car and Grand marquis. They said that by the end of this current contract that Oakville would have a third shift coming and that was what would be available to us. Then they said that we could not go home from the meeting, we had vote then and there and we could not discuss it with our loved ones. We got screwed.

I heard that our guys and gals from STAP have all been given their indefinite layoff notices...is this true? Guess i will never get a shot to go to Oakville, sucks cuz i was really hoping for a chance. Guess i will have to cut my ties with Ford and take my severance.

Not sure, i hope so, but i think they are refferring to future products at oakville, like the MKT i believe. Im crossing my fingers for anything positive.

Hey guys, i've got an 08 Sport Trac limited 2wd V8 with 28000 k on it. When i've got the windows down i hear a metal hitting metal sound over certain bumps, can't seem to figure it out. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem. Thought i'd ask before i take it in to get it looked at. its not the roll cage so im not sure on what it could be. I dont wanna take it to the dealership cuz it will be there all day and i'll miss it too much lol. btw...if you can, throw a Magnaflow mufler on there and take the silencer muffler off, sounds amazing!

Wow, Ford is set on closing 1520 no matter what. Guess theres nothing we can do about it. Guess its time to get out of st.thomas while i still can get some money for my house.

^^^^Hope that happens, maybe we'll get another escape when our lease is up next year in october.

I would love for Ford to put a nice turbodiesel into the focus, not sure why they haven't yet, Volkswagen has the golf, jetta and beatle in diesel and they sell well. I have an 07 focus in 5 speed and its not bad on gas, 8.5 l/100 km, but i would love a diesel that could get even better mileage. In europe, the focus has quite a few diesel options, it would seem like an easy transition to bring one over here. They brought the crappy Contour and Mystique over, so why not just bring over Focus diesel engine. I would buy one in a heart beat, and i know of a few at work that drive far every day would be interested, instead of them driving a beatle or jetta to work at a Ford Plant. Just my 2 cents.

That does look better than the current grille we have now on them, but i think with the Town Car being the main priority right now, they won't want to change anything on the CVs or GMs for that matter.

My wife has an 06 escape xlt V6 and its great, no complaints at all on power, but i would like to see a 6 speed tranny in their to replace the existing one. But i guess to compete with other companies in the small suv market, they will need at least a 3.5 V6 in there producing no less than 260-270 hp.

Not sure who your sources are, but i have a member in my family who is assistant plant manager at Prestran in st. thomas, and he's heard nothing of that at all. Wish that were true though.
