  1. How much of this is or will effect Skilled Trades? Preferably Tin Smiths, but any information will help. I will be transferring to KTP and I am trying to find out if I will be laid off or what? Planning on buying a house and it would be nice to know anything at this point. Thanks in advance to all who respond.
  2. Since we are on this topic, I will be coming to KTP as Sheet Metal. Chuck Browning was suppose to call our local this past Friday giving us our transfer dates, But......Never did. Have any of you heard when Sheet Metal is suppose to be coming in? Also, What is the senority for sheet metal there?, What shifts are you all working?, and are you all working any overtime? I am looking at a house in Jeffersonville, IN, Any of you know about this area(Crime, Cost of Living vs. Louisville, High School)? Any and All information would and is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance to all my brothers and sisters
  3. Did you take a buyout or stay with Zeledyne? LOL..No I don't live on this site. This is the 1st time I've been on in about 2 weeks. Was just looking through to see if anything was new. Was on Vacation all week this week, just went back to work last night. Have you heard anything about skilled Trades reporting dates?
  4. ngp roots...what did you decide to do? If you are transferring, did you get your transfer date yet?
  5. I think I've made my point. But, If he does decide to stay with Zeledyne (which is his option), I don't think he will still be making 11.00 per hour when he has a wife and 2 kids (lol). There are wage increases each year and also, I have faith in the Union to negotiate higher wages when the new contract comes around. And he definately wont be living off (with) me. He is more responsible than that. You guys are just getting silly now.
  6. How is it union breaking? If it wasn't for the Union, Zeledyne would not be offering the Benefits that it is. And for someone just starting out, that is a pretty good deal. There is no work for Son's and Daughters just starting out. The only jobs out there are jobs with NO benefits what so ever. My son and Nephew are newbies to the society and have been looking. My Nephew is working for 7.00 per hour with No benefits, No vacation, No education, No nothing. Kroger pay 5.65, McDonalds pay 6.00, and Sonic pays 6.50 - 7.00 also with NO Benefits. So, You should Thank the Union for being there. Because believe me Zeledyne dont want the Union because if it wasnt there they would be paying less with alot less benefits (just like McDonalds). Look around, people would work it, you get served at McDonalds dont you?
  7. People who can't speak english.
  8. Well, the education is in writing. Its in the contract. I'm not forcing my kid to work there, if he don't like it or don't want to work there, he don't have to. And AS I SAID, it is not a good wage for experienced people, that is why FORD offered Flowbacks. This is not a FORD contract. This is a new contract with a new company. Maybe this isn't the job for you, because it's not for me (I'm taking a Flowback). Stop complaning and FLOWBACK if you don't like it.
  9. By the way....If there were so many people in there that couldn't speak english, well then, Tulsa must be filled with them, because apps were only given by referral only.
  10. If he don't get into Zeledyne, or if he doesn't like the work, I WILL Pony Up. I have a college fund for my kids. But the point is, If someone else is going to pay for it why not let them. Besides that, I am making a point as to it's not just 11.00 per hour. It is 11.00 per hour plus Heath, dental, disability, vacation, Education, and far more EXPERIENCE. I don't see how you all want to raise your kids off the silver spoon. I grew up very poor and yes I have given my kids just about everything, But they also need to know what the real world is like. Like I said 11.00 per hour is NOT a good wage for an experienced person, But it IS a good starting point for our sons and daughters.
  11. My son lives at home. It is a good wage for someone just starting out. He has been out there looking for work and someone just out of high school can't find anything over 10.00 per hr with NO benefits. Have you looked at the economy lately? Have you seen the unemployment rates? I don't know about you, but I didn't start out making 120K a year. When I started with Ford, I made 11.99 per hour. It will give my son the experience to find a job making more money in the future. And, also give him the opportunity to go to college and have Zeledyne pay for it. Zeledyne is giving our kids opportunities, you just need to look at the big picture.
  12. My son went to the testing here in Nashville, and all 3 testing times were filled will tons of people. He passed the test and is just waiting to be called.
  13. NGP ROOTS.....That is NOT ME! I am TN_TINMAN.....NOT TINMAN, I do not know who TINMAN is.
  14. I have been on vacation for the past 10 days. Don't know a thing about what's going on except for what I've read. Can Someone enlighten me on to what's been happening over the past week and a half? Has any skilled trades received Transfer Dates yet from Nashville or Tulsa? Also, from what I read, Zeledyne took over Today? So, now what happens to the employees that are transferring? Are we still working? Have any changes been made to any schedules? Someone Fill me in please.
  15. Has anyone else received their report date yet?
  16. Funny though, they'ed rather have you sit on your butt for 8 hrs. rather than going out and fixing problems they know that will have to be done sooner or later because the "Paper work does not reflect" the job. LOL , what a joke. Its like having your comode backed up and saying, well the paper work dos'nt reflect that job yet!! There is plenty of work to do out here and I am certain we all could be working 7/12s if the powers to be would let us go out and do these jobs. but it's clear to me they don't want to spend the time - money - or effort on the tinsmith craft. Hell, we can't even get sheetmetal ordered. My personal favorite is when they do want a job done and u tell em' - we have no metal, can u order some? They say - well, don't u have any scrap laying around. It's like , O'yea, wait here, I'll go pull some out of my ass !! LOL ! So this is the mold that has become for the past 7-8 yrs. The bad part is - you get used to it. So your right - The co. has the right to run the bussiness the way they see fit - The way I see it is, The co. would like to run the sheetmetal craft out of bussiness and into the street.!! Just my thoughts. It is better to live standing than to die on your knees. Hang tuff brother.......
  17. Just a general question : Are any of the ACH's out there that are taking a flowback to other plants being offered the 45,000.00$ incentive to go, on top of the moving allowance ? Tks.
  18. Hey Joe ! When I came into the trade in 93 I worked at the Dearborn assembly ( when the mustangs were there ) the work was always there. we fabed, installed duct work, made lockers, hung siding, put in drop ceilings, guards, + plenty of goverment jobs LOL ! there were about 60 of us then ( through out the rouge complex ) when I left in 97 and came to nashville there were about 45 still there. In nashville now there are only 7 of us here, spread out between four shifts and three of us are taking flowbacks. There is still plenty of work here ( although the millwrongs and carpenters do about 40% of our work here ) but now of course , its harder to get it done. 1 - our man power is spread to thin. 2- The "BRAINS" of the operation changed the way we do things here. Now ah days we get these work orders at the start of the shift and "Thats the only thing u work on" ! Hell, every plant I have worked at we would go out and find work to do in addition to the work we had going on. this way we would always have something to do. I was "CAUGHT" one time working on different company job that was not "ASSIGNED" to me a few years ago and was told "You only work on what we tell you to work on"!! LOL - can ya believe that crap !! So now ah days I do just that. Even our own Super had told us we are not needed there !( Millrights are the GODS of the plant ) Hows that for a kick in the ass!! LOL I like the trade also and hope things turn around for us, but , who knows - only time will tell !! good luck out there !! Just a story
  19. Pack n save ! LOL thats' funny! We are just sitting here too waiting on some sort of word ! Suposidly our buyer ( Zelydine ) is supposed to have there paper work done by april 15th. but who knows, this has been going on for some time now.
  20. Hey Milan Chick - who is the buyer for your plant?
  21. Are you at KPT rc38 ? How long is lap losing a shift for - is it just for re-tooling or permanent? I'm just trying to see if any other tinners out there possibly are going to the KTP. Tks, any info would be great.
  22. Well - tit for tat - Just messin' with u also - If ya know me - I take alot of shit at work and usually just smile and pass it off as such. Tks 4 the good luck, I think we all just might need it. I got a good idea who ya are anyways, If it was u that wrote "BITE MY ASS TINMAN" on my toolbox - that was some funny shit !! that's why I kept it there. ( I know the handwriting ) By-the-way - I dont think anyone can live up to trog's expectations, not even me !! LOL >>Peace<<
  23. Once again, You have proven to everyone on this site just how dumb you are ! " CONGRADULATIONS " :party2: I Made it very clear several weeks ago that "YOU" didn't know what U were talking about - not everyone in nashville. If you were to actually read the question I posted it asked - How many openings and how many people signed up for kentucky? No one else seemed to have a problem reading it. Your right - I did talk to Frank Keatts personally and I am going to Kentucky !! Worst case scenario for me will be to go back to Dearborn. Which is not a worst case for me. Sy. - no Zeledyne or JSP in my future.!! I know you think you know me and call me by my name but if U can't come and talk to me personally then u know nothing about me. In the future please don't waste space on these threads about me. Just be Happy God gave you the opportunity to buy shoes and a computer. See ya at work.
  24. So What about Sheet Metal? Did they have anything posted for Sheet Metal? (or Kentucky Truck for that matter)? We at Nashville were offered Kentucky Truck, do you have those numbers by any chance?
