The basics of the very involved story are this.....
Brand new factory-ordered truck, came through with orange peel on a rear quarter panel. The dealer repainted the quarter panel, then scratched the clearcoat after painting. Since then, they have buffed and waxed the scratches twice, and they are still very visible. Since they obviously can't just buff and wax the damage out, they've offered to "strip and repaint" the entire quarter panel. From their explanation, it would mean stripping the paint and repainting it fresh. There is no damage to the underlying metal.
After the failed attempts to repair the damage they caused, our confidence in the dealership's ability to fix this problem isn't too great. As a result, I'm trying to find out exactly what they should be doing during the repair. Unfortunately, they claim not to have any documents from Ford as to how to conduct the repair.
Thanks!
