  1. Folks, just a warning related to the 30,000 mile service based on an experience this week. Service was done (including replacing coolant) and everything was fine until I drove away. Then the temperature started to rise rapidly, only staying at the edge of operating zone due to my frequent use of the battery. Took it back in, and service advisor said it was the second time it had happened to him in two days, both times a Fusion Hybrid. Seems that the engines are very difficult to flush properly and both cars had big air bubbles left in the cooling system. Supposedly the fact that the engines turn themselves off once reaching temp has something to do with it, but I couldn't vouch for that. Anyway, my dealer said he would be disseminating the info, but those of you approaching that service may need to pay extra attention to this issue when scheduling your service. Happy (high mileage) Motoring!
  2. I dread the coming of winter and the lowering of my mileage! I have to remind myself to keep everything in context - getting 38 mpg on my way to work isn't bad, all things considered! As long as I can do 42 on the way home!
  3. 21K on mine and currently running 42.3 since my last computer reset in December of last year. Had it up to 42.7 in the summer....
  4. It has happened twice to me - I've started keeping track of the numbers so i can reconstruct my lifetime mileage.
  5. I have noticed some of these same issues - resetting of the computer (although it kept the odometer total, it wiped my avg mileage, bummer). The vents I definitely noticed, as well as the trunk floor material/ tire cover. I am however very happy with the steering and overall handling. No problems with the visors - actually i like the way they pull out. The one thing I would add to the list is that the seat could be a bit more comfortable for long distance driving, but I am comparing to my old 300M which has amazingly comfortable seats.
  6. 2010 FFH (ice blue) I was up to 42.5 cumulative at 6K miles, but a spell of cold wet weather tanked my mileage - down to 42.2. Amazing how the need to heat it up in the morning cuts into efficiency... Of course it's the same for all cars, just never had the data in my old models...
  7. Thanks to you both. To be more precise, I am wondering how hard I can brake before I saturate the regen and employ the pads - obviously I'd like to avoid that.
  8. Quick question for the cognoscenti - is there some indicator as to when I have maxxed out on regen when braking? I often have flexibility to brake longer and lighter if it would maximize regen, but obviously would rather not. Any info?
  9. FFH ice blue, 4200 miles so far. Cumulative is 41.8 mpg, going up slowly, steady state will prob be about 43 or so. Mostly suburban Northern Virginia driving, makes great use of EV mode between 40 and 45 mph. Always have the A/C on - sweating is just not cool.... :shades:
  10. IN my experience so far, I've had to work at not getting absorbed by the display while trying to stay in EV mode all the time. I think I am now able to drive "by the seat of my pants" more than before (like learning to fly without being cockpit-fixated). I also find myself begrudging the little trips I know will result in a lower mpg. Most of them are unavoidable, but that after all is the point... to improve our overall efficiency. I haven't used Sync much - my BB doesn't want to connect but it's not important enough to spend time on. The voice control is cool for Nav, but I know where I'm going!
  11. Great thread - I was just thinking we should do this! I have just under 900 miles so far and am at 39.6, most suburban driving with a few spurts of freeway and stop-and-go. I haven't reset the numbers, but my dominant commute trip (about 12 miles) has been showing 42-44 pretty consistently so i expect the avg to continue to (slowly) increase. One problem I've noticed - I try to maintain electric mode as much as possible, but we have a lot of wildlife where I live and have narrowly escaped quite a bit of carnage because the animals are obviously listening for normal auto sounds. One squirrel wasn't quite so lucky, but the foxes ate the carcass by the time I came back so the circle of life continues! Thanks again for starting the thread
  12. When my FFH was in transit, I googled the locations it stopped at and looked at the vehicle distribution points - one outside of Toledo and one near Baltimore. Amazing to see the transporters and rail sidings from orbit! [And desperate, I know] Good luck and enjoy your car when it arrives!
  13. Well, I've added almost 200 miles to the new FFH so far. Only down to 3/4 of a tank, and the computer says I am doing over 37 mpg so far and rising. So far everything is as promised (except for continuing difficulty pairing my BB up with Sync). The last car I had that got this kind of mileage was a 1978 Ford Fiesta (1.6L Kent engine actually built in Kent!) which although a great car was practically a horse and buggy compared to this. As my commute route has a few hills/grades on it, I am seeing a consistent pattern of when the battery is more highly charged and when it is not - working on a strategy to take advantage of that. I do find myself being less stressed out about having to slow/stop for traffic on the road since I know I'm not losing all the energy to brake friction. (As for the idiots who don't know how to drive, well, not so much) As nelsonlu and others have said, BLIS is a welcome surprise, as is the quiet especially when running electrically. I sort of feel the urge to floor it and see what full throttle feels like except I hate to lose my leaves! Needless to say the teenagers in the house love the colored interior lights. I hope that I can take the time this weekend to hook up an iPod and try that out.
  14. Picked my FFH up today - very attractive in ice blue. Drives nicely, although I was getting a bit distracted getting in and out of EV mode, etc. Sync is very nice. I like the brakes very much, and the steering is fine. I am going to have to get used to the suspension, a bit softer than what I am used to (although total grip is quite good). Seems to have sufficient power (although I am going to have to get a lot better if I am to get up to 47 mph in EV mode). Interior is really nice and it will be a while before I am totally conversant with all the tech. Paired up my BB and made a call, although I couldn't get it to voice dial. Very quiet, just as others have said. My route has lots of ups and down, and boy does this car have low drag - I put it into neutral to compare with my 300M (which coasts really well) and it is even better, as one would expect. Tomorrow I will get a chance to take it on the freeway and see how it does at speed. Dealer said they have ordered 5 - one for their stock which they had received and sold previously, mine is the first customer order and first to be delivered.
