A USCG turbine liscense won't cut it, I would bet he is qualified to test for a stationary engineers liscense, he could call city of detroit building and safty engineering dept, they will send him an app. remind the guy that stationary and shipboard powerplants are different in that stationary plants have more safety devices, example, low water cutouts, I spent 4 yrs on and old ocean going vessel as a boiler tech., USS Pyro. most people in this field for Fords went through the app program, When I was hired a First class stationary engineers license was required, I got lucky cause no app was ready when one was needed. A first class liscense isn't something you just go test for, The max your friend will be able to test for is a 3rd class, you need to hold the third for a yr, then go for second, hold that for 2 yrs, then try for the first class license.   6. I went out back to check out the C Max yesterday, love it, I want one bad now by got about a yr and half on truck loan, then im getting one for sure.

I got a friend who works the line, he has mouth cancer, has been off on medical a couple times, anyway he has lost so much weight and hasn't got the energy to work the 10hr shifts, he went from 230lbs down to 145 lbs, well he just went back on medical this past monday, it's not looking good for him to come back any time soon, last time he came back he was 180 lbs but keeps loosing weight so fast he only last a few months before he's back down in the 140's. anyway the question is do you know of any options, he only has 12 yrs in and is 45 yrs old, is medical retirement an option, maybe looking into ss disibility, any advise. Thanks.

  10. LOL, What a fool you are, If ford had the intention of giving you cash, ( enough to cover a policy ) Why would they not just pay for the policy, Simple answer to that, What ever they offer cash wise won't cover half what your policy will cost. Democrats are so stupid.

I plan to live a real long time, so I doubt they will offer enough, my neibor is 92 yrs old, he put in 38yrs at Fords, he has been collecting his pension for 32 yrs, i bet if his pension was bought out back then he would be eating dog food by now. I know thats not the average but I want a garenteed income when I retire, should I die just a few yrs after retirement im sure I'll be leaveing some bucks on the table, course i doubt i'll care much then.
  12. wonder how much thier offering, either way I don't trust my investment skills and would probaly go broke before I kicked the bucket, just feel more comfortable with a pension, that is unless it's a couple million. LOL.

I've seen these old timers so screwed up they had to use a garbage can as a walker, so afraid to retire, never had a life, only had work, then died, funny how they think thier doing thier family a service by working till they drop when in reailty in most cases the family would much more enjoy what years remain with you. 8 more yrs and im gone, that will give me my 30, don't need no more than that.
  14. Im an active employee, my wife keeps getting dropped cause NESC says medicare says she recieves medicare part A & part B. Medicare says they never told them that, each yr medicare has to send me a letter stateing she recieves part A only, then I mail it in to NESC, After a month or so of fighting with them they reinstste her, Right now we are fighting to get her reinstated again, NESC have been down right rude as all hell, My wife has had 2 brain surguries, skin cancer, and is now fighting lung cancer. Talk about stress, good luck to ya.

Actually I found a labor relations bulletin hanging near our vacation schedule, it say"s the sign up period is April 19th to may 1. so if you haven't signed up when your suppose to,then it would be first come first serve. plus I talked to union rep to get a clearer understanding, he said don't sweat it, they will just need to work those not on vacation 12 hr shifts, no one here ever complains about that cause it's pretty rare and we want what ever O.T. that might get us.   18. just signed up for deer season. 11/13 thru 11/18. anyhow, noticed 3 others in my dept also signing up for same date, there are only 8 of us in the dept and 6 are needed to run the place, how is it decided who get's the time off. Thanks, remember. this is 8 months away.

  20. We had a couple guys get into a fight in our dept yrs ago. one was forced to retire, the other fired, the fired guy was offered his job back about a yr later, he wanted back pay for time off, so he refused and got a lawyer, never did get his job back, dummy.

  22. thats ok with me cause the wk of deer season i got 2 cks due to screw up, both had truck payment taken out, so i was 1 up anywho. Then again, watch them take 2 next pay.
