  1. Are you sure? I thought I voted for the SGT at Arms, I must be thinking of something else. I maintain that many of the positions at the hall aren't needed. The union needs to be streamlined. Every paid position needs to be looked at. As NoMoreVisteon stated, the membership has to stand up and be counted.
  2. I'm a college educated liberal, paid for by the benefits I received. There are a lot of us out here.
  3. The Sgt at Arms, etc are positions I think the UAW could cut. I do agree with your post and the union hall won't be making changes any time soon.
  4. Kansas City has very reasonable housing, however, we are split with several counties so the tax rate is higher in some than others. Houses near the plant range from 100K to 1 million- all within 10 miles. KC is actually a great place to live.
  5. Could someone please explain why the UAW hasn't cut some of their own jobs at the union hall? Seriously, we do not need all of those people over there, some of them can go right back to the line. Streamlining the UAW is an effective way to save money. IF I saw the Union Hall make a few cuts, they'd get my support and my husband's. Problem is, people are so hard core into keeping the status quo that they can't see the forest through the trees. My grandfather was a UAW original. He passed away in 1993 and the chapel was overflowing with union members. He was always effective in finding ways to cut costs at the union hall so he could pass those savings on to the members. Why did the union stop cutting costs?
  6. Thank you for posting this article.
  7. :hyper: Rock on, way to support your company!! Woo hoo! :shades: I buy American whenever I can because I support my country. I buy Ford products because Ford provides food, clothing and shelter for my family. If you take issue with this, go
  8. Have you studied the plans or policies that are laid out? These are LOANS and will be paid back- our debt is NOT going to spiral out of control. That is a fear tactic that people spit out who are opposed to Obama taking back our country. And I'm throwing this out here. My own Dad, who is retired and a staunch Democrat. He didn't vote for Obama because he is half black. My Dad's generation, or so the people I've seen with him, seem to be racist. So, for the first time in his LIFE, he voted Republican because of race. It's sickening. He finally admits that Obama is doing much better than he'd ever thought possible i s first 100 days. .
  9. If anyone thinks the Democrats or Republicans either one care a crap about any single one of us, you are just kidding yourselves. We have to have our voices heard and make it clear that they aren't going to be re-elected if they keep up the same crap. I'm a Democrat, straight line and proudly so. However, my own party has ideas and concepts I'm not happy with. Rush Limbaugh does not argue fairly. He referred to Chelsea Clinton as the "ugliest first daughter" (paraphrased) and he needs to just keep popping his forged prescriptions and shut the he!! up.
  10. Have you asked him why he chose a Jeep instead of a Ford? I'd like to hear his answer. We asked a foreman once about why he bought a foreign car and he said it wasn't our business. We then asked the big dog and he was pissed. End of the story is the foreign car trader said he didn't feel "comfortable" working for a place where he was questioned on the type of vehicle he purchased and he quit. Good riddance Harry O.
  11. I am saddened by all of the UAW members who are losing their jobs in this deal.
  12. Have you been to the Ford website in your area dealership? Most have an option to build your vehicle, it's really cool and easy to use. I didn't want to wait for the 6 weeks, so I looked at every Escape they had at ALL the dealerships in Kansas City. I found the one I really like and am very happy with it, it would have been the same vehicle if I'd have walked it down the line, so I bought it. The ambien lighting is the best feature they've ever had. I love that.
  13. My husband did that and I should have listened to him.
  14. Uh, hello? I'm a Christian and I voted for Obama, I'm not for abortion or any of the crap that my Democratic party wants to triumph. It's the lesser of 2 evils. Lcjdad is always polite in responding, I respect that. There is no "win or lose" in posting. You can't "HEAR" what I'm posting, you only see words and sometimes, they are taken in a manner they aren't meant.
  15. Like how the Japanese bow to each other? That makes sense.
  16. The credit crunch is not helping the suppliers, either. Great post, btw. All UAW members have to pull together.
  17. I just took TESPHE and bought Ford Stock with it. I believe in the company I work for~ let the flames begin.
  18. Excuse me, freak. I posted that to state that skilled trades aren't the only ones who work outside. So, you Shut the F@ck up. So? What's your point? Who freakin' cares what plant I work at?
  19. I'm not dogging you, I don't know you. I will tell you this- the skilled trades in my department read the newspaper and can't fix anything without the engineers standing on top of them. I pray to God that none of us have to lose our jobs or have our homes foreclosed on. I pray everyday that the economy gets better and that every plant can stay open. My husband works outside a LOT at the plant. He's not skilled trades, he freezes in the winter, gets sunburned in the summer and stands in the rain. you aren't exclusive in what you do.
  20. Bush ran our country into the dirt. Obama is sweeping up the mess. The word "socialism" is thrown around by republicans to scare people into not supporting anything Obama is doing. The deal is that GM wants billions of dollars from the government in low interest loans- I'm GLAD Obama is making them restructure. That is the only chance the GM workers have to save their jobs. That said, Bush isn't responsible for GM in a direct manner. However, he is responsible for all of the downturn in the economy by dragging us into 2 wars with no conclusions, allowing "free trade" with China and India(Already set in place, he just expanded it) and I could go on and on. Let's not forget he is great friends with the Saudi Royal family~ who control oil prices through OPEC. It truly bothers me that people bag on Obama when he's not even been in office more than a few months. he didn't make this mess, he's not for big business- he's for us.
  21. CAP is no safer than any of the other plants. With Gettlefinger out the door soon, even Kentucky could close.
  22. No offense, but Wikipedia can be edited by anyone at any time. It's not a real source of information.
  23. Wake up, None of us think the government works for us. Picking the lesser of 2 evils is the only chance we had. Keep up the negative thinking, that's really going to get us far. For starters, McCain is against reworking NAFTA to protect the USA. Obama wants to see NAFTA reshaped. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/elec...19-McCain_N.htm And here's more: http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/200...obalized-trade/ Senator McCain hews closely to the traditional “free trade” doctrine that the US wins, despite any upheavals, when it leads the way toward more global commerce. That may sound like four more years of President Bush, but it’s also a view championed at other times by the likes of Bill Clinton and Franklin Roosevelt. Senator Obama has aligned himself with the goal of “fair trade” espoused by many labor unions and others worried about globalization’s impact. He urges tougher enforcement of existing trade laws. He’s skeptical of new trade-promotion treaties unless they contain labor and environmental standards on imported goods – provisions intended partly to level the playing field for US workers against rivals in Asia and elsewhere. Obama also voices support for renegotiating NAFTA with those same goals in mind. To critics, Obama’s trade philosophy would undercut America’s leadership role at a time when global trade talks have already been floundering.
