  1. KCAP has the highest Quality on high end trucks all the way to regular cabs, if you work for Ford, you can see the stats. If KCAP closes, we will follow our product as the contract states and I will bump someone off their job and put them on the street. High quality people at KCAP in the shiny new plant at DTP- of course Ford is thinking of moving us there. Basically, I don't understand what the deal is over people being happy that KCAP could close. That's my plant. If it closes, I'm bumping, as the contract states. Where's the joy in me taking someone else's job?
  2. Captain, I think it is great that you advocate for the UAW. I have no problems with you voicing your support. However, I am troubled by the fact that you are in an absolute refusal to admit that the UAW has problems. The union is a business and has good and bad parts, just like anything else.
  3. Why can't you just scroll past the posts that you don't agree? I'd like to see you contribute something positive to any discussion regarding Ford. I'm sure you work as hard as all of us, but come on. If we don't agree, we don't agree. Why don't you attack the subject matter and not the poster?
  4. I could not agree more! Ford is for the company, the union is supposed to be for us. There is no excuse for trying to sell us down the river.
  5. Did I say there was a huge chance of this happening? No. Is there a chance of Ford moving seniority people to DTP from KCAP to use the best people and the best equipment to Ace quality and control? YES. Yes, My uncle is in maintenance at the glass house- not. They outsourced those jobs and have a private cleaning company for the offices. Check it out for yourself.
  6. First off, I am female as most people here know. Secondly, you have no clue of who I am, other than I work at KCAP. Therefore, please refrain from making judgments on subjects you know nothing about.
  7. As I pay union dues every month, I want to know what is going on throughout the membership. I may work at KCAP, but what happens at other plants impacts me. How come this Chris guy hasn't come back to answer questions?
  8. Here's the deal- aren't you all sick of the fighting between the plants? All I see here is "DTP won't ever close because we are the chosen ones." Bull crap- if Ford sees fit, they will close DTP. KCAP, LAP and whoever they can to save a buck. No one is safe. My uncle works at the glass house in Detroit and he said, "if DTP has the best plant with the best equipment, let's bring the veteran workers from KCAP." In other words, he hopes to keep DTP open with KCAP workforce. That is a screwed up deal and NO ONE WINS. Move forward people and stop the bullshit.
  9. I hope the funds are used to pay for displaced workers! As a democrat (socialist actually) I have a problem with our leadership supporting one candidate over another in the democratic party- without input from the membership. I don't like having a flyer tossed at me that outlines who I am supposed to vote for.
  10. What gives the UAW leadership the right that belongs to ALL UAW members? Did we vote on this? Who gets the profit from the sale? Is this going to be split between all members? I'm all for selling Black Lake, but let's keep it fair. Where does the money go? Which one of our leaders pockets these profits?
  11. My Grandfather retired from the UAW with great benefits and lived a fantastic life. He looked forward to retirement and lived life to the fullest. He'd roll over in his grave if he new te reduction of benefits to retirees. All I can say is that I"m sorry the company you all worked at, for years and years, gave you the fork. My son wanted to work for Ford when he graduated from high school, several years ago. Thankfully, he didn't hire on. Anyone want their kids working for this company? Three generations of Ford are in my family and yet, I'd never want it to be a fourth generation working for the greedy bastards.
  12. I have a real problem trusting this guy, considering he and Gettlefinger tried to ram that last contract up our ass. After looking at his educational background- I'd say he looks good on paper. That's about all I can say that looks good for him.
  13. I'm confident the strike vote will pass. I don't think we are going to strike, but something needs to change- like the load on jobs and the DLO bs.
  14. You make a good point, other countries don't build the quality we do or have the safety standards.
  15. Serious question- this 'the general' really work the line at Ford? It's odd that he and that Candy Cane person both post the same BS over and over. Isn't there a chance it's the same person and neither one work at Ford? KCAP is sticking our necks out to protect our jobs and do them safely. As for the rumor of the F150 leaving KCAP- fat chance. FYI- no one is safe, KTP and DTP can claim they are both in the green zone with no worries. Wrong.
  16. No joke! My grandfather would roll over in his grave if I spewed that crap out of my mouth. Retirees worked HARDER than we ever did (we still work hard, just with the newer technology) and they earned to have a Christmas bonus during their retirement years.
  17. Look, KCAP and DTP work for the same team, right? Let's stop the between the plant bullshit. Edit: Also, you have NO clue about how bad the mgmt is at KCAP now. They have 60 fork drivers on DLO because Ford changed the policy of how to stack stock.
  18. Firedmotorcompany- thank you for your insightful posts.
  19. We "Sell" products, not contracts. It offends me that Gettelfinger wants to "Sell" my job to me. I've got something to "Sell" Gettlefinger as well- a job as a Walmart greeter.
  20. Toyota is blaming the floor mats. Finally, the truth gets out- American made vehicles are safer.
  21. Anytime I see her screen name, I know she's going to post something stupid. It's cheap entertainment~ NOT. Candy Cane doesn't work for Ford, gimme a break. She's a housewife who is hoping her Ford husband keeps his job so she doesn't have to actually get off her ass.
  22. You do make good points. I don't know crap about these funds and I'm one who will admit I stood by for years and bitched and moaned and did nothing. No longer. When we voted NO, we all stood together and no longer complained- we acted. I'm just trying to roll ideas in my head. What I'd add to your post is that the UAW sat quietly when Clinton gave Red China the Most favored trading rights- I do like Clinton but his policies were flawed more than once.
  23. Which is why Ford thought we'd all sign away our jobs in the last contract. Henry Ford designed the company with "One tool, one man per job on the assembly line." (okay, I'm female, times change) His kids took over and the arrogant asses they are, along with their coparts, have never worked hard in their lives.
  24. LOL- I don't know better than that. I don't understand how the strike fund works, it just seems like a solution to distribute it and then I'd vote not to strike- which they want to take away anyway. I thought GM and Chrysler can't strike while they are under whatever government control they have since the bailout? Seriously, can this 600 million dollars be redistributed if we vote not to strike? I'm trying to find a perspective that is viable, because I don't want to have another bullshit contract thrown at me with a 1000 dollar extortation payment to insult my intelligence. If I take the right to strike from my contract, I want to be compensated for it. REALLY compensated, like through the strike fund which won't be needed if we don't strike.
  25. They set the mantra for importing cheap products- there's a link. We need a new "Buy American" campaign, I don't shop at Walmart unless I have to- which is rare/
